Saving a life.

There are many fears in this world. China preparing for Nuclear War, Islamic Jihad, and Obama becoming President of the United States. But there is always the one fear that we all have in the back of our mind. The fear of Cancer.

Although it isn't the leading cause of death in the United States, Cancer is the second leading cause of death. And these deaths are totally preventable. In each and every case of cancer, death could be avoided. A healthier lifestyle will prevent cancer. Eating right, exercising, taking care in the sun, and the cessation of smoking all will prevent cancer in you. It will also prevent heart disease and stroke. Make you feel better and give you a glow of health.

The other thing you can do to is a yearly check-up. A good health screening will catch any cancer before it becomes too late to cure.

I could quote statistics and numerical facts. But we have all read or heard them. There is a couple of facts that need to be told though:

  • Smoking causes lung cancer. If you smoke, stop. I know it's hard, but the rewards are great.
  • Cover up in the sun. A good sunscreen and long sleeves will prevent melanoma. A tan is not a sign of health. It is a sign that your skin is damaged.
  • Eat right and exercise. Colon cancer can be prevented with a good diet and exercise.

And get a yearly check-up. If your doctor does find something, it will be easier to treat than if you put it off.

After all, you are saving a life;
Your own!

Finalis, thanks for the post. As a cancer survivor (28 months and counting) I heartily agree.
