Republican Senator Ted Cruz makes the case for flat tax.

He speaks of the recent details of the IRS abuses in targeting conservatives and how the "IRS has not honored it's trust with the American people," and that the "Obama administration has demonstrated a willingness to use the machinery of government to target their political enemies."
Cruz also told Fox News "That was true with the IRS, and it’s true with the Department of Justice, in targeting reporters, targeting Fox News, going after reporters that would dare be critical of this administration."

Perhaps now is the time to install a flat tax with very few deductions. A deduction for one's mortgage, children, charity, healthcare costs, etc...
A flat tax at a 15% for everyone. And the abolition of the Internal Revenue Service.
