Texas Border: Things Americans Have No Clue About - Burying the Dead Found on Ranches

The responsibility of local counties to bury dead illegals found on ranch properties or public lands is staggering. In one Texas county, by September 2013, the burial costs for the year had reached $800,000.00. The safety of Texans living on our southern borders largely depends on volunteers actively patrolling near the homes and on ranch properties in vulnerable areas, patrolling mostly in the dark of night -- not because border agents won't do the job, but because they cannot do the job. They are undermanned, underfunded and often are not allowed to do what they are trained to do. The volunteers, for the most part, come from northern Texas. What happens on the border, doesn't stay on the border, and all Texans understand that. Illegals spread out. In 2013, the attorney general of Pennsylvania complained that drug cartels were taking over neighborhoods. These Texas volunteers are not paid; they are doing the job the government refuses to do, the job taxpayers pay to be done. They can't sell their property and leave because who will buy these ranches in some of the most dangerous places to live in the U.S.? Illegals invade their properties every night -- that's every night. Do you think Senator Harry Reid would put up with that? How about Senator Chuck Schumer? Nancy Pelosi in her San Francisco office, built green and way over cost, or in her Napa home? How about Barack and Michelle Obama? Even John McCain from Arizona -- his bodyguards in his gated neighborhood won't be bothered much by illegals. Two videos below and two transcripts. Not content with the way the federal government is securing the border or with sitting by and doing nothing about it, a team of volunteers are patrolling private ranches in South Texas looking for people coming into the country illegally. 
“We certainly don’t see ourselves as vigilantes,” said Jeff L., one of more than two dozen border volunteers who took part in a three day watch in Brooks County in August. 
The group, called the Texas Border Volunteers, has members from all over the country but nearly half of the volunteers are from North Texas. 
So far this year, they’ve spotted more than 400 people on private land trying to walk around the U.S. Homeland Security check-point on Highway 281 near Falfurrias.
The group says U.S. Border Patrol agents caught more than half of those they reported. 
“It’s a question of doing something about it as opposed to reading a blog on the Internet and hitting a like on Facebook,” said Jeff L. “It’s getting out and doing something.” 
Jeff L., who is from Fort Worth and who like most volunteers did not want to give his full last name, said he volunteers because he says the government is not doing enough and because it saves lives. 
CBS 11 News went with the border volunteers on their August watch. 
During one of the early morning patrols Jeff L. spotted a woman lying up against a fence post. She said she was traveling with a group of eight from Mexico when she lost them in the dark of the night. 
She had been walking for hours without food and water. “If she makes the wrong turn out her, she’ll be dead by this afternoon,” said Jeff L. “ She wasn’t in any shape to survive the day outside.” 
Jeff L. gave the woman water and then called the U.S. Border Patrol to pick her up. Those found alive are turned over to the federal government, but those found deceased become the county’s responsibility.

Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias serves as a reminder of the cost and danger of trying to cross through the harsh south Texas terrain, but people continue to come.
The border volunteers say they’ve spotted twice as many people during the first nine months of this year compared to last year, and it’s not just Mexican nationals they’re seeing. 
“Probably 60 percent to 70 percent of the groups we encounter are not Mexican,” said Dr. Mike Vickers, who started the group and who owns a ranch in South Texas. “We see a lot of Chinese and people from India and Pakistan.” 
“We see a lot of things that the American public has no clue that is going on.” 
Do you know that illegal alien crime is the majority of crime committed in the U.S.? Texas rancher, Dr. Mike Vickers and his wife, Linda, founded the Texas Border Volunteers, (Facebook page here). He says illegals go around the checkpoint, come through private property, cut fences, destroy water sources, break into ranch houses and hunting camps on the way. He showed his own fence:

...it has electricity on the top, on the inside and the outside -- 220 volts. It won't kill anybody, but it will sure rattle their teeth. It keeps them from climbing over and tearing my fence down. Consequently, what they do, they dig under the fence, and we are constantly repairing these crawl holes...This is an event that happens absolutely every night. I've had my fences cut, and holes dug under as many as seven times in one night. When they cut a big hole or cut the fence, cattle get out on the highway. It's a life threatening situation for anybody going down the highway. 
What they're doing, and I'm referring to the smugglers, the coyotes, the smugglers bringing backpackers and drugs into our country, or illegal aliens into our country -- human smugglers that are bringing people in from 70-odd countries, are getting dropped off south of the checkpoint and the drop-off zone.
A lot of people have quit and have left and gotten out of the cattle business and now they're trying to sell their property, but they can't even sell the property because of the Human Trafficking through the property. 
We need the National Guard on the border. We're fed up with it. You never know going out on your property where, what you're going to run into to, what type of person you're going to run into. 
Most of them they catch on my property, the large percentage of them, have criminal backgrounds, either from the country they come from or from being deported out of our prison system.
Any and everybody in the rancher business in South Texas is exposed and in danger any time they go out onto their property. It's a huge problem.
A lot of these bodies are skeletal. We consider them all homicides, because most of these people are left behind to die out here on this private property. The coyotes will not try to help them if they get tied up. They're duped of their money. They pay their money south of the checkpoint, they're dropped off, and they're told, Houston is 20 minutes that way, go that way and you'll see the buildings. Well, four days later they're still walking around in circles, cramped-up, and where they lay down, that's usually where they die because they're cramped-up.
The border is not secure. It's dangerous. We're in a war zone here and Washington is just a mass of deception. There's absolutely no truth to what they're saying.

Wendy Davis Divorces Husband and Leaves Two Children Behind - That Trailer Park? It Was Her Family's Home

Well, WOW! The latest paragon of feminism, Texan Wendy Davis, a Democrat candidate for Texas governor, has learned that her filibuster supporting abortion after 20 weeks, makes her just a sleazy as she really is. Davis gave up two daughters by different fathers to her last ex-husband in divorce settlements, and that "trailer park" story? She lived with her parents "in the family home."


Dallas Morning News reporter Wayne Slater: in 2005, Davis, apparently eager to advance her career, relinquished custody of not just her child with her second husband, Jeffry Davis, but also her first child from another marriage.

Wendy Davis's first daughter Amber, born during her first marriage to Frank Underwood, was 23 at the time – an adult. Her daughter with Jeffry, Dru, was 17.
The Tarrant County Court granted the divorce on November 15, 2005, giving Jeffry Davis "the exclusive right to designate the primary residence" of Dru.
The blended family had begun on a happier note in May 1987 when Wendy, 24 at the time, and Jeffry, 37 at the time, had married. Amber, who was then 5, lived with the newly married couple, and from the beginning, her step-father raised her as his own. Jeffry Davis “considers Amber his daughter” the Houston Chronicle reported in September 2013,quoting him saying “she's been with me since she was two” – around the time Wendy Davis's first marriage ended.
Jeffry Davis was a successful and established professional. Armed with an undergraduate degree from Princeton and a law degree from Southern Methodist University, he started Republic Title of Texas, a real estate title company that was on its way to becoming the most successful commercial real estate title company in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Wendy Davis, then a brunette, had been working as a pediatrician's assistant and waitressing at night.
One year and four months after they were married in 1987, the couple brought daughter Dru into the world. Amber was 6.
Two years later, Wendy Davis applied and was accepted to Harvard University Law School. She left for Boston while Jeffry stayed in Texas.
The Chronicle reported "[s]he took the girls with her at first, but the balancing act proved difficult, and they came back home to live with Jeff."
Wendy graduated from Harvard Law School in 1993 and returned to Fort Worth, where she clerked for a federal judge, ran unsuccessfully for the Fort Worth City Council in 1996, and worked for a local legal firm. In 1998, she was finally elected to the Fort Worth City Council.
According to Jeffrey Davis, Wendy Davis left him the day after he finished paying for her education. “I made the last payment, and it was the next day she left,” Jeffry Davis said.[Newsbusters reports Mr. Davis "paid for her last two years of college and cashed in his 401k to pay for law school]

RealClearPolitics says Jeffrey Davis sued for divorce and accused his wife of adultry.
It's one thing when a court determines a 17-year-old can decide to live with her father or her mother, but it's another to actually give up custody, which would not allow the 17 year-old to change her mind and move back in with Mom.
Davis painted herself as the single mother, struggling with a child while living in a trailer park and trying to climb her way out of that hell. The trailer park was only a part of her life for about a month or a few months, while living with her parents, nevertheless, she revisited the dreadful place with Maria Shriver:
Maria Shriver: You haven’t been back here since you’ve  lived here.
Wendy  Davis: That’s right.
Maria Shriver: When you look at this place, what are you feeling right now.
Wendy Davis: Um, a homecoming of sorts, definitely. I’ve tried real hard not to put this in the rear view mirror. I try to keep it present. Just in terms of the work that I do, making sure that my perspective is never too far removed from this. … The hardest thing in the world is to be giving something your all, and it is not good enough. That is what I was experiencing when I was here. I was giving it my all, working two jobs and doing the best I could. But this is the place that I came home to with the phone not working from time to time or the lights not working from time to time. Source (see a video of the "trailer park." although there really no good shots. About those "trailer parks" that just a few days ago made Wendy Davis so special:
An estimated 20 million people live in mobile homes, and most of them are employed full time or retired. Mobile homes provide “an important source of affordable housing for low-income households…. [and] serve as an important transitional step for social mobility.”
Some people in trailer parks may be stuck there, but others consider it a viable life option. Why treat trailer park folks the way Bill Clinton did, as trash just waiting for a $100 bill to be dragged through the streets?
An odd thing happened on the way to Wendy Davis’ personal and campaign narratives — while claiming to fight for single moms and folks in trailer parks, she actually perpetuated stereotypes and myths in an incredibly snobby way. Visit Legal Insurrection for more.

Firearms, Size And Movie

Hello once more from the Regional Headquarters Of Conspiratorial Right Wing Jingoistic Conclusion Jumping Constitution Supporting Conceal Carry Believers Of West Texas.

FIREARMS:

Within the past week we have seen the reports of the Muslim Terrorist attacks on one British and one French soldier in their respective countries.Keep in mind that both France and England have been two of the European countries who have welcomed the believers in Islam with open arms. As I understand it, the French soldier was still alive but of course the British soldier was beheaded by two Muslim Terrorist Extremists.

Then on the following day, 5/24/13 I was listening to a morning news report when they played the tape of a 9-1-1 call to the Oregon State Police. In this audio a lady had called her local 9-1-1 responder which was the local Sheriff's Department and found that the Sheriff's Department was closed and no Deputy available at that hour and the call was forwarded to the State Police Operator. The lady told this operator that her ex-boyfriend was breaking in her home and she was alone and was afraid that he was going to harm her. According to the news report this boyfriend had beaten up this caller in the past.

The operator told this lady that she had no one to send and suggested that the lady ask this ex-boyfriend to just leave. WOW! What great advice.

Now, it seems as the reason for the Sheriff's Dept. being closed during certain hours was being blamed on the "Sequester" and lack of funds for this Oregon Sheriff's Department. I personally am surprised that they did not blame George Bush, whom we all know is responsible for Hurricane Katrina and many other mishaps.

BUT, the point of all three of these stories is this. England and France have laws which prohibit firearms ownership by most citizens, much less the citizens being authorized to carry these firearms. And I am surprised that this dispatcher never even asked the lady in Oregon if she had a firearm in her home. I would have to believe that the answer would have been NO.

Now I am not saying that the attacks on those two soldiers could not have happened here in the U.S. BUT, I am saying that attacks such as these would probably incite bystanders to act a bit more aggressively than just filming the murder with their cell phones. I would imagine that an armed attacker in almost any location in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota, Louisiana, Arkansas, Florida, and a number of other states would be met with armed resistance and the likelihood of them beheading anyone would be highly unlikely. BUT their being shot would be HIGHLY PROBABLE.

I just wonder if any of these three people who were victims of attacks would have had a Liberal/Progressive/Democrat/Socialist view of firearms possession by honest people? I will wager that they wouldn't.

BUT, the Obama Administration and the rest of the Socialist jerks in our country have the typical view that since they don't own or carry or desire to own a firearm that NOBODY should be able to do something other than what they approve.

AND, if they get their way, firearms ownership and self protection aren't the only things which will be taken from us.

MOVIE:

A couple of days ago I was passing through one of our rooms and looked at the TV screen and thought that perhaps the Turner Classic Movie Channel or the A&E Channel were showing a repeat of the old Annette Funicello - Frankie Avalon movie, "Beach Blanket Bingo". Then I took a closer look and found that I was watching a news channel showing the new love affair between Barack Obama and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

I don't know how many people still believe that Chris Christie is a Conservative Republican, but I'll bet I could fit them all into a telephone booth.

I wonder just how many people in New Jersey really believe that Barack Hussein Obama really gives a damn about their particular problems?

It is amazing how many people watch this phony operator of the world's largest shell game make a television appearance in Oklahoma and actually believe that this vermin gives a damn about the people in Oklahoma which was maybe the reddest of the red states. I read in one report that not one single county in Oklahoma was carried by the Obama/Biden ticket in the 2012 election.

BUT apparently the voters in New Jersey, who seem to be confused as to what a Conservative Republican really looks like, are totally enamored by the appearance of the world's most articulate and intelligent human who shows up on the Jersey Shore for no other reason than a political one.

And of course in my estimation the love scenes between Barack Hussein Obama and Chris Christie are much more torrid than those between Frankie and Annette.

SIZE:

And no, I am not discussing the weight loss of the aforementioned Chris Christie. I am referring to the SIZE of our FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

We have all watched various politicians and members of the Mainstream Media tell us for several weeks that we can't expect Barack Hussein Obama OR Eric Holder OR the various musical chair directors of the IRS to know what every single person in their departments is doing.

REALLY? Funny, but I DO EXPECT these heads of government and governmental agencies to keep abreast of major investigations and of major policy violations by the people working for them.

Do not in one sentence try to tell me that Barack Hussein Obama and Eric Holder and Janet Napolitano and Hillary Clinton and a myriad of other Obama appointees are the most efficient and knowledgeable people on the planet and in the next breath try to convince me that they are just folks like us who cannot be expected to be aware of everything going on under their supposed leadership.

The truth of the matter is that our federal government and the expanded bureaucracy promoted by the Obama Administration has, in fact gotten way out of hand and needs to be DOWNSIZED.

If you have been watching any of the reports of Benghazi; the IRS; and the Justice Department scandals then you will come to the same conclusion as me. First of all, I do not believe that Barack Hussein Obama has appointed ANYONE who would have the balls to make a major decision without first getting his approval.

Our government has grown way too many arms and legs and while I don't believe for a second that these scandals were put in motion without the knowledge and approval of Barack Hussein Obama there might not be any way to prove that he is culpable in any of them. That, of course depends upon his underlings having the guts to take the blame themselves. We shall see.

One thing that this administration is downsizing is our military. And, in my opinion, that is the one area where we can least afford to be short with the world situation being what it is today.

On May 27th, when all the banks and government offices were off for the Memorial Day Holiday, I was drinking coffee with a friend at a local coffee shop. A young man walked up to place an order and my friend told me to look what it said on this man's shirt. It had the name of a U.S. Military base and when the young man turned, my friend asked him if he had been stationed at that base and the young man answered, "Yes Sir". This was a young Hispanic man who looked to be in perhaps his early thirties. He was very clean cut looking and very articulate.

My friend told him that he had been stationed for awhile at that base during the Korean War. We learned that this young man had just been discharged from the U.S. Military after having served 12 years. We asked him about his reasons for leaving and he told us that he had to have some surgery on a tendon in his leg and that although his surgery had been successful he had been medically discharged, although he actually wanted to continue his career in the military. He said that his branch of service was caught in a move to DOWNSIZE and his position was abolished. Without asking him to commit to any political views we inquired as to his thoughts about the downsizing of the U.S. Military and he was obviously dead set against it. He said that there were many people who did not wish to make the military their career who were still in the service. He was pretty disenchanted with the present situation regarding the leadership in the top levels of the U.S. Military. This young man had served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. It seems to me that there are a bunch of government which could do with a good dose of downsizing or complete elimination BUT NOT OUR MILITARY.

On May 23rd, Obama in one of his public appearances made a statement about respecting STATE SOVEREIGNTY in dealing with foreign countries. Wonder what his views are on the SOVEREIGNTY of the FIFTY STATES which compose our own country? It doesn't seem to me as if he is all that concerned with our individual states having any rights or input in governing the citizens of that state.

I imagine we have all heard the female supposed heckler interrupting Obama's speech and calling for the closure of the prison at Guantanamo. She went on ranting for a good while before she was removed from the room, at which time Obama said that we should all be listening to what that heckler had to say and that he supported what she said. First of all, I don't believe for a second that she was a dyed-in-the-wool, garden variety heckler. I am convinced that she was a PLANT in order to try and convince the American people that the prison in Guantanamo which holds ONLY TERRORISTS is a really important issue with the American people. Forgive me if I have the opinion that the vast majority of Americans don't give a damn about the prison OR its occupants.

I don't know about the rest of you but if I have to listen to another in depth report of John McCain going to Syria to meet with the Syrian Rebel Leadership I will probably do like Michael Jackson in a Pepsi Commercial and burst into flames. The first few reports I heard made it sound like McCain had at great risk to himself gone deep into Syria to meet with the Syrian Rebel leadership to try and determine just what level of assistance the U.S. should give the rebel army.

A little later in the day one reporter said that the meeting location was LESS THAN A KILOMETER inside the Syrian border. Now I am not saying that going anywhere in Syria is not dangerous but I am of the same belief as retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters and believe that we need to keep our asses out of that conflict lest we end up backing the same brand of folks we backed in Libya and Egypt. I guess what I am saying is that in Syria, I am not sure there is a right side. I feel sure that the Rebel leadership will be just as one sided and as hard on the Syrian people as is the turd who is now in power.

Please contact your elected Representatives and Senators and let them know in no uncertain terms that any weakness on their parts in the gun control debate will result in you working against them in their next bid for re-election. Right now, I am pretty darn pleased with Texas Senator Ted Cruz since he is being branded as a bully by Harry Reid. Of course I would imagine that in Harry Reid's eyes, Pee Wee Herman would be a bit of a bully. Reid is pure sissy in my opinion.

I do hope his attorney does his job but I am forming the opinion that the District Judge hearing this case is a liberal squawk which is not good for the Zimmerman team.

Yes according to the State of Texas, Bigfoot is not on the endangered species list.

The statute that you cite (Section 61.021) refers only to game birds, game animals, fish, marine animals or other aquatic life. Generally speaking, other nongame wildlife is listed in Chapter 67 (nongame and threatened species) and Chapter 68 (nongame endangered species). “Nongame” means those species of vertebrate and invertebrate wildlife indigenous to Texas that are not classified as game animals, game birds, game fish, fur-bearing animals, endangered species, alligators, marine penaeid shrimp, or oysters. The Parks and Wildlife Commission may adopt regulations to allow a person to take, possess, buy, sell, transport, import, export or propagate nongame wildlife. If the Commission does not specifically list an indigenous, nongame species, then the species is considered non-protected nongame wildlife, e.g., coyote, bobcat, mountain lion, cotton-tailed rabbit, etc. A non-protected nongame animal may be hunted on private property with landowner consent by any means, at any time and there is no bag limit or possession limit.

An exotic animal is an animal that is non-indigenous to Texas. Unless the exotic is an endangered species then exotics may be hunted on private property with landowner consent. A hunting license is required. This does not include the dangerous wild animals that have been held in captivity and released for the purpose of hunting, which is commonly referred to as a “canned hunt”.

Prohibiting Religion


Will someone please explain to me what President Barack Hussein Obama and the members of his regime have against G-d?  To be exact the mention of G-d.  His Excellency, The President removed The Creator from the Declaration of Independence.  I guess he thought he could do one better than Thomas Jefferson.  And he really made history when he became the first US President to Omit G-d from the traditional Thanksgiving Proclamation.  Who the heck was he being Thankful to on that day?  Himself?  From the way he behaves I do believe that he believes he is G-d, or at least the Messiah.  I am assured that he is neither.

The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree, and his minions are following his Glorious example:
A Texas lawmaker is calling for a congressional investigation of the Houston National Cemetery after he went undercover and determined that cemetery officials are still preventing Christian prayers at the funerals of military veterans.

“The Obama administration continues to try to prevent the word ‘God’ from being used at the funerals of our heroes,” said. Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas).

“It’s unacceptable and I’m going to put a stop to it as fast as humanly possible,” Culberson told Fox News Radio. He attended a burial service at the cemetery undercover on July 8, when he says he witnessed volunteer members of the honor guard from the Veterans of Foreign Wars being prohibited from using any references to God.

“The Obama administration had told the nation and me they were not interfering with the prayer said over the graves of veterans,” he said. “And I went undercover to personally verify that claim.” VA officials have strongly denied they’ve banned any religious speech – and have offered support for Arleen Ocasio, the cemetery’s director.

“The idea that invoking the name of God or Jesus is banned at VA national cemeteries is blatantly false,” said VA Press Secretary Josh Taylor in a written statement to Fox News Radio. “The truth is, VA’s policy protects veterans’ families’ rights to pray however they choose at our national cemeteries.”

Taylor declined to comment on the pending lawsuit or other ongoing legal proceedings, but did say, “No one should make judgments before all the facts are known.” Culberson said the commander of the honor guard was told by cemetery officials to approach a grieving widow to reconfirm that she wanted the word God mentioned at her husband’s graveside service.

“He quite correctly said as a Texan and a man of honor and integrity, ‘I’m not bothering that poor woman at this most terrible time of her life. We’re going to do the ritual,’” Culberson said. “Right in front of me, the VA directly and deliberately attempted to prevent the VFW from doing their magnificent, spiritual ritual over the grave of this fallen hero."

The cemetery is already the focus of a lawsuit filed on behalf of the VFW, an American Legion post and Houston’s National Memorial Ladies. They claim the VA banned members of the organizations from using the words “God” or “Jesus” at burial services.

They also allege they were banned from reciting prayers or using religious language during services unless families approved the text in advance. Culberson, who oversees the sub-committee responsible for funding the cemetery, said that he wants the cemetery director fired – and he’s willing to do whatever possible to make sure that happens.

“The cemetery director has to leave,” he said. “I will zero out her salary. If she attempts to work for the VA anywhere in the state of Texas her salary will be zero.”

“It makes my skin crawl that liberals are attempting to drive prayer out of a funeral ceremony for our heroes,” Culberson said. “We’re going to fix this so that no Obama liberal bureaucrat will interfere with the funeral of a hero.”


But Taylor said the rules set in place at the cemetery are meant to protect the grieving families.

“Put simply, VA policy puts the wishes of the veteran’s family above all else on the day it matters most – the day they pay their final respects to their loved ones,” Taylor said. "Out of respect for the families, VA’s policy exists to prevent anyone from disrespecting or interfering with a veteran’s private committal service.”

Controversy first surfaced nationally at the cemetery during a Memorial Day event when a Houston pastor was ordered by the VA to remove the name of Jesus from his prayer.

Culberson said he hopes to hold hearings on the cemetery in the fall.

“They will bury 10 to 20 American heroes today and the Obama administration is preventing prayers from being said over their gravesites – today, ” Culberson said.
I have been to numerous funerals at Veterans Cemeteries, and not once has the grieving family every asked a person or group not to pray or mention G-d.  It is true that non-Christian families will ask that Jesus not be mentioned.  But never once has a family not received the condolences and prayers of others for their loved one without a bit of gratitude.

There is something obscene about telling people not to pray at a cemetery, a funeral, or to mention G-d when giving a grieving family your condolences.  I wonder if it is only Christians who are being discriminated in this manner or does this ban extend to Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims?  This ban, concocted by a low-level bureaucrat of the lowest order, is just one step of many to eliminate G-d or any mention of the Creator from this country.  If it is not stopped now, if the Godless Progressives can make this ban stick, then the right of those of us who believe and worship will eventually be eliminated and our faiths will be driven underground.

Statement by Commissioner Michael Williams, a Republican candidate for the United States Senate, concerning racism.

Those of us outside of Texas don't know and never heard of Michael Williams. This is from his campaign website:
Michael Williams is a Commissioner on the Railroad Commission of Texas, which regulates the oil and gas industry. It is the state’s oldest regulatory agency. Elected statewide three times, he was elected to complete an unexpired term in November 2000. In November 2002 and 2008, they re-elected him to full six-year terms. He was initially appointed to the Commission by then-Governor George W. Bush in December 1998 to fill a vacant seat. Williams served as Chairman of the Commission from September 1999 to September 2003 and again from July 2007 to February 2009. He is the first African American in Texas history to hold an executive statewide elected post.

Williams serves as the Chairman of the Governor’s Competitiveness Council. He also chairs the Governor’s Clean Coal Technology Council, represents the Governor on the Southern States Energy Board and is a member of both the National Coal Council and the Interstate Compact Commission. Williams also serves as the Railroad Commission’s “point person” for the agency’s regulatory reform and technology modernization efforts.

The son of public school teachers who earned degrees in math and the husband of a mechanical engineer, Michael is the creator and co-sponsor of the “Winnovators,” a summer camp for 6th through 12th graders to inspire the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians.

An advocate of alternative energy, Williams is championing the conversion of Texas public and private fleets, especially school buses, from diesel and gasoline to environmentally cleaner, cheaper and domestically produced natural gas and propane through his “Breathe Easy” initiative.

A devout conservative, Michael helped get out the vote for Republicans as Chairman of Texas Victory 2004 and 2006, has served as Convention Chairman and Platform Committee Chairman at Republican Party of Texas’ State Conventions and was one of the original board members of the Texas Christian Coalition. He is also a life time member of the National Rifle Association.

He also had the pleasure to serve as an adjunct professor at Texas Southern University in the School of Public Affairs and Texas Wesleyan School of Law.

In 1990, President George H. W. Bush appointed Williams to be Assistant Secretary of Education for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education, a position previously held by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Former President Bush previously appointed Williams as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Law Enforcement at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. He had policy oversight responsibility for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, the U.S. Secret Service, the U.S. Customs Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network. Williams also served in the Department of Justice as Special Assistant to Attorney General Richard Thornburgh.

Williams served as a prosecutor in the Department of Justice under President Ronald Reagan. In 1988, he was awarded the Attorney General’s “Special Achievement Award” for the conviction of six Ku Klux Klan members on stolen military weapons charges. Early in his career, he was an assistant district attorney in his hometown of Midland, Texas.

Williams is a proud alumnus of the University of Southern California where he holds a bachelor’s, a master’s and a law degree.

He is a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Arlington, Texas. He and his best friend, Donna, celebrate 24 years of marriage.
Definitely not a man you can pin the term "Racist" on, but there are those who will try. He recently issued a statement condemning Jimmy Carter's use of that term. This is it:
“I have immense respect for President Carter, but I fundamentally disagree with the notion that opponents of President Obama’s immense spending proposals are motivated by race. As a black man from the South, I take exception to the notion that my opposition – or the opposition of millions of Americans to the president’s healthcare proposal – is rooted in racial politics. It is a sad day when genuine disagreement is smeared by such an incendiary characterization. I oppose the president’s plan because it will explode the deficit, allow further government intrusion into the doctor-patient relationship, and continue to insulate healthcare consumers from the true cost of their care.

“America has come a long way on the issue of race, so much so that we elected the first black president in the history of our country. The president’s supporters seem to want to denigrate the motives of the opposition so they don’t have to actually engage in a debate about reforms that will forever change the direction of this country.

“It is no coincidence as the liberals continue to lose public support for a budget-busting healthcare plan that they have begun a seemingly orchestrated effort to change the subject from the content of the reforms to the character of their opposition. From the former president of the United States, to the opinion pages of the New York Times, a new ugliness has permeated our discourse. I say to them that I can disagree with my president based on the politics of ideas rather than the politics of identity.

“Americans who have honest concerns about increasing government control of healthcare, and the overall direction of this nation, deserve answers instead of scorn, respect instead of reviling accusations of racism. If this president is going to change the tone in Washington, he better first change the tactics of his supporters.”
I wish he was running here in Illinois. I would welcome him as MY Senator. Alas, it is the people of Texas who just might have that privilege (lucky them).

I expect the left will start calling him an "Uncle Tom", just their way of stifling dissent in this country.

(Israelnationalnews.com) As this is the third ceasefire in three years between Hamas and Israel - with over 226 rockets being fired in the seven months since Operation Cast Lead - you will be hard pressed to find a person in Sderot who believes in the relative quiet. There is a common joke that it isn't a true ceasefire, but more like we "cease" and they "fire".

One of the most visible developments is the extensive construction of bomb shelters underway throughout Sderot. There is a huge influx of building materials for private one-room bomb shelters attached to people's homes and whole apartment complexes adding bomb shelters to each level of the building. Wherever you look in this small city of 19,500 residents, you can see thousands of shekels being poured into preparation for future rocket attacks.

Besides the various terror attacks on the border that have thankfully been thwarted by the Israel Defense Forces, there remains steady smuggling of terror weapons into the Gaza Strip. According to Israel Security Agency Chief Yuval Diskin, "Hamas is continuing to increase its strength, manufacture longer-range rockets and smuggle rockets of a far superior quality." One of these newer Grad missiles, coming straight from Iran with heightened targeting capabilities and explosive power, hit a school in Ashkelon over the Sabbath back in February. In early June, Hamas terrorists packed horses full of explosives and attempted to attack the IDF on the Gaza border.

The situation in southern Israel is quieter than during Operation Cast Lead; however, as one can see from various small news bites, it is a very delicate silence.

As this delicate silence continues, the more trouble the victims of this once daily reality of rockets have with any sort of treatment. The emergency center that treats victims of the Kassam attacks shut down this June. The two centers that treat the vast psychological damage to the people of the region will shut down in the coming months due to lack of funding. One of the private sponsors of the centers, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, cut their funding due to a restructuring of priorities.

While the medical professionals diagnose people with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as frequently as they do a common cold, there remains the unique Sderot phenomenon that there is no "post-trauma" yet due to the continuation of the rocket fire. Dr. Danny Brom, the founder and director of the Israel Center for Treatment of Psychotrauma, says that, unlike the northern cities of Haifa and Kiryat Shemona following the 2006 war with Hizbullah, Sderot is "not in a post-traumatic reality." Even though the need for trauma treatment is ever present, the centers serving Sderot and the surrounding areas are closing.

After the widely covered Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip this past December and January came the widespread criticisms and condemnations of Israel's actions. The United Nations established a fact-finding mission on the Gaza conflict. Although the Israeli government did not officially participate, private individuals flew to Geneva to testify about the rocket fire in southern Israel. This past July, along with Noam Shalit, Sderot Media Center Director Noam Bedein gave testimony, with the assistance of videos, explaining the human side of the daily reality of rocket fire on civilians.

This is the third "quiet period" Sderot has seen. During the first, over 300 rockets landed in the region and during the second, over 500; now, the number is steadily rising to over 226 rockets. The world may have found new topics in the news, but that has not stopped the rockets. Sderot is continuing to go about its daily life through the eerie quiet, knowing well that the rockets will return in full force in due time.
In a cease-fire, both sides are suppose to stop all attacks. Not just one side.

Following four rocket and mortar attacks in southern Israel this week making it 230 attacks since the ceasefire on January 18th, ranking Republican member of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee Florida Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R) and Texas Governor Rick Perry visited Sderot, Israel and the shut down Sderot Emergency Center accompanied by the Sderot Media Center yesterday. During the visit, Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen noted the still apparent rocket threat, “It is only a ceasefire for Israel. It is never a ceasefire for the terrorists in the Gaza Strip.”

The Congresswoman and Texas Governor visited the city of Sderot, Israel today to see first hand the toll that over eight years of rocket fire has had on the people of Sderot. The Sderot Emergency Center which provides immediate first aid to the victims of the rocket attacks was closed last month due to lack of funding and was specially opened for Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen and Governor Perry.

Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen expressed her concern for the deterioration of the situation in Sderot. “We are very worried about the budget cuts of the trauma clinics. That is going to have such a severe negative impact on the children and the families of this ‘Missile City’.” The Congresswoman continued to highlight the city's psychological crisis and the closing of its trauma centers, “The needs are getting tougher and tougher and yet you see trauma centers getting closed. It just makes no sense.”

After visiting the closed Sderot Emergency Center, the Congresswoman and Texas Governor spoke to Sderot residents and viewed a short clip from Sderot Media Center ’s and American producer Liane Thompson’s upcoming feature-length documentary, Missile City Kids , that aims to create global awareness of the psychological trauma of Sderot’s children.

Texas Governor Rick Perry commented after the clip of Missile City Kids, “I hope most Americans realize that there’s a part of the world where children are still being victimized, and individuals, freedom loving people, who just want to live in freedom and live in peace are being victimized every day by individuals, who for whatever reason, want to attack in the most vicious and thoughtless way to destroy lives. And for what reason? G-d only knows.” The Governor continued conveying his support for Sderot, “Americans and certainly Texans are going to be supporting the citizens of this city.”
Gov. Perry not only paid a visit to Sderot, he is in Israel discussing security, seeing the sites, and received the Defender of Jerusalem Award.

Besides the lone star that sits boldly on both of their flags, Texas and Israel have much in common, and a sturdy relationship that should continue to grow, according to Texas Governor Rick Perry, who is in the country on a visit aimed at strengthening economic ties between the Jewish State and his own.

"I come from a pro-business, pro-prosperity point of view," Gov. Perry told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday, "And the first goal of this trip was to further some of the economic development that already exists between Texas and Israel, and to recruit some of the Israeli businesses we visited here to expand and come to Texas."

Perry also recalled the Texas-Israel Exchange - a body that supports the trade of agricultural know-how between Texan and Israeli scientists - which he established in 1991, while serving as the Texas Agriculture Commissioner.

"We have a connection that goes back many years," he said. "And Israel has a lot that we can learn from, especially in the areas of water conservation and semi-arid land - Israeli technology has helped us a lot in dealing with drought."

"But also," the governor continued, "when I was here for the first time some 18 years ago and I was touring the country, the comparison between Masada and the Alamo was not lost on me. I mean, we're talking about two groups of people who were willing to give up their lives for freedom and liberty." Beyond the comparisons, Gov. Perry said another point of his trip here was to show other people "what was really going on", with regards to the military threats facing the country, and in particular the IDF's recent Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip.

"We went to the border with Gaza and received a briefing from the army there, and we went to Sderot and saw the police station with all the Kassam rockets piled up, we saw playgrounds that had to be covered from rocket fire. It's a powerful place." In that vein, the governor said he was also interested in learning more about security aspects while in the country, as Texas has a large, porous border with Mexico, and the recent violence in that country had unnerved many Texans.

"Israel is a leader in security technology, and another reason for our visit to the Gaza border was to see some of the security measures being used there," said Perry.

UPDATE: Texas children roped into Islamic training

This is an update on the story posted here on 31 May 2008.

You will remember that students at Friendswood Junior High School were subjected to an Islam 101 class presented by member of Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). This program included prayer. In direct violation of Supreme Court rulings such as: Wallace v. Jaffree

The State's endorsement, by enactment of 16-1-20.1, of prayer activities at the beginning of each school day is not consistent with the established principle that the government must pursue a course of complete neutrality toward religion. Pp. 56-61

The law is very simple. There will be no government sponsored prayer in Public Schools! Yet Principal
Robin Lowe chose to violate the law.

Now she has been reassigned to another job. Let us hope that it isn't as a principal of another school.

This whole incident started when a parent complained to the school that his son was physically attacked at the school because he is Muslim. Instead of calling in the students involved, Principal Lowe allowed CAIR (a known terror-supporting group) to indoctrinate the students into Islam.

On Saturday, Friendswood Superintendent Trish Hanks sent a memo to parents and community members saying that she had authorized the presentation for staff only — not for students. She said she had asked her deputy superintendent, Sherry Green, to express that sentiment to Lowe.

"It is obvious now," Hanks wrote, "that a misunderstanding occurred between two very competent and dedicated administrators."

State law allows parents to remove their children from a class or activity that conflicts with their religious or moral beliefs, but schools are not required to send home permission slips before conducting potentially controversial lessons, said Debbie Ratcliffe, a spokeswoman for the Texas Education Agency.

Hanks, in her letter, described Friendswood as "a faith-based community" and apologized to parents.

If the parents don't know of an event that would conflict with a child's religious or moral beliefs was happening at the school, how can they remove the child from the event? Letters should have been sent to parents before hand so they could have had the opportunity to remove their child from the school.

But community members and parents of children at the predominantly Anglo and Christian school complained about the assembly. David Bradley is a member of the State Board of Education whose district includes Friendswood. He says the assembly wasn't an appropriate response to an attack on a student.

No it wasn't. If the child attacked wasn't Muslim, but Jewish would there have been a special assembly on Judaism? No. This matter was handled badly by the school administration. And it gave CAIR a foot in the door to insist on other special privileges.

American Public Schools are not allowed to teach Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism or any other ism that people believe, except they are now allowed to teach Islam.

It seems our friends at CAIR are at it again. Not content to file lawsuit after lawsuit to push their Islamic agenda on the American people, not just content to insist that school boards around the nation pay for Islamic schools, they are now forcing the study of Islam on school children in secular schools.

Public schools students at Friendswood Junior High School in the Houston area have been roped into Islamic training by representatives from the Council on American-Islamic Relations during class time, prompting religious leaders to protest over Principal Robin Lowe's actions.

Pastor Dave Welch, spokesman for the Houston Area Pastor Council, confirmed the indoctrination had taken place and called it "unacceptable."

"The failure of the principal of Friendswood Junior High to respect simple procedures requiring parental notification for such a potentially controversial subject, to not only approve but participate personally in a religious indoctrination session led by representatives of a group with well-known links to terrorist organizations and her cavalier response when confronted, raises serious questions about her fitness to serve in that role," the pastors' organization said.


We all know the links of CAIR to Hamas. CAIR is Hamas in the US. CAIR states that its goal is to make the United States a Fundamental Islamic nation. So when they can get a school to allow them to teach about Islam, they get one step closer to their Fundamental Islamic nation.

According to a parent, whose name was withheld, the children were given the Islamic indoctrination during time that was supposed to be used for a physical education class.

"I am simply trying to get the word out to those whose kids may not have told them about an Islamic presentation that all kids were required to attend," wrote the parent, who was working to assemble protests to the school board.


In the Texas case, a school e-mail to parents provided only a half-hearted acknowledgment that such mandatory religious indoctrination might not have been the best decision.

No. It wasn't a good decision. It was against the law to be exact. It was in violation of US Supreme Court decisions. Cases such as Wallace v. Jaffree in which the court wrote:

(b) One of the well-established criteria for determining the constitutionality of a statute under the Establishment Clause is that the statute must have a secular legislative purpose. Lemon v. Kurtzman, 403 U.S. 602, 612 -613. The First Amendment requires that a statute must be invalidated if it is entirely motivated by a purpose to advance religion. Pp. 55-56.

(c) The record here not only establishes that 16-1-20.1's purpose was to endorse religion, it also reveals that the enactment of the statute was not motivated by any clearly secular purpose. In particular, the statements of 16-1-20.1's sponsor in the legislative record and in his [472 U.S. 38, 39] testimony before the District Court indicate that the legislation was solely an "effort to return voluntary prayer" to the public schools. Moreover, such unrebutted evidence of legislative intent is confirmed by a consideration of the relationship between 16-1-20.1 and two other Alabama statutes - one of which, enacted in 1982 as a sequel to 16-1-20.1, authorized teachers to lead "willing students" in a prescribed prayer, and the other of which, enacted in 1978 as 16-1-20.1's predecessor, authorized a period of silence "for meditation" only. The State's endorsement, by enactment of 16-1-20.1, of prayer activities at the beginning of each schoolday is not consistent with the established principle that the government must pursue a course of complete neutrality toward religion. Pp. 56-61


The First Amendment requires that a statute must be invalidated if it is entirely motivated by a purpose to advance religion. One cannot advance any religion. Not just Christianity, but any faith at all.

What did CAIR teach? Was it a simple definition and understanding of what Islam is? Was it the history of Islam? No. They were taught:

  • Adam, Noah and Jesus are prophets
  • There is one god, his name is Allah
  • The 5 Pillars of Islam
  • How to pray five times a day
  • Islamic religious garb

That is religious indoctrination and evangelical fervor towards these children. And this violated Federal Law. No wonder that these parents are upset. I would be furious if that was my child. It is the responsibility of the parents, not the school to teach religion to the child.

There also was no parental notification, and students were required to attend.

"The kids did not even know they were having an assembly or what topic it pertained to until they entered the gym," the parent wrote. "I send my kids to school for academics. … I teach them religion at home."

But this is a pattern of Islamiczation in the US. Just a long string of incidents. The student teacher threatened by Muslim student, the wrestling coach fired for being a Christian, the news crew assaulted at Public funded Muslim School, the Somali women suing Mission foods because their dress code violates Shar'ia.

To allow organized Muslim prayer in the schools, you also must allow organized Christian prayer. You cannot have prayer in the schools without allowing all religions to organize prayer. Many ministers for get that fact. So in calling for Christian prayers into the schools, they are also calling for Muslim prayers into the schools. Are Christian preachers willing to go that far? I don't think so.

US Law must be applied equally to each person. One cannot put anyone or idea above the law. The school and CAIR both violated the law. And the law must now come into play. It is time to say to CAIR that you have gone too far.
