How many times will the Democrats give in to this man?

In May, the Democratic Party came to a decision regarding the delegates from Florida and Michigan. They sat the delegations and gave each delegate a 1/2 vote at the convention. They also awarded delegates to Barack Hussein Obama who wasn't even on the ballot in these states. It seems that whatever The Anointed One wants, Howard Dean and the party elite will jump through hoops to get it for him.

But what happened and is happening is that many rank and file members of the party are angry. Very angry to be exact. They have given themselves a name PUMA (Party Unity My Ass). And they are dangerous to Obama's chance for the White House.

So instead of trying to court them in the preceding months, instead of addressing their issues, instead of allowing the party to fully seat the delegation when they met in June, Obama held his ground against them. Until today.
Now that Barack Obama has clinched the Democratic nomination for president, he wants convention delegates from Florida and Michigan to have full voting rights at the party’s national convention.

Obama sent a letter Sunday to the party’s credentials committee, asking members to reinstate the delegates’ voting rights when the committee meets at the start of the convention.

The delegates were originally stripped because the two states violated party rules by holding primaries before Feb. 5. The delegates from each state were given half-votes at a contentious party meeting in May, as part of a compromise designed to give two important states some role at the convention.

Obama’s former Democratic rival, Hillary Rodham Clinton, had won both primaries, though Obama’s name was not on the Michigan ballot and neither candidate campaigned in Florida.

“I believe party unity calls for the delegates from Florida and Michigan to be able to participate fully alongside the delegates from the other states and territories,” Obama said in the letter.

The Illinois senator said he supported the party’s efforts to control the primary calendar.

“As we prepare to come together in Denver, however, we must be — and will be — united in our determination to change the course of our nation,” Obama said.

Obama’s endorsement virtually guarantees the delegates will have full voting rights. Clinton, who also has supporters on the credentials committee, had lobbied to reinstate the delegates.

He is scared that the PUMAs will cause a scene. What he doesn't understand is that he could have done this in May and kept his party together. His supports believe that he can do no wrong, and that what he wants he should get.

But he is getting scared. Although the Main Stream Media is backing him, he isn't ahead in the polls by 10-15 points. He is neck and neck with John McCain. He is afraid to debate John McCain knowing that unlike the debates before the primaries, this time he will be asked hard questions and have to actually answer them with ideas and not rhetoric.

He needs the PUMAs on his side. And I don't believe that this stunt on Obama's part will do it. For now the nation is seeing that Barack Hussein Obama is nothing more than an Empty Suit, Flip-Flopping politician with no new ideas and only the rhetoric of Change. And the country will reject him for that.

How long will the Dems give into this man?

Until Denver, when one of two things happen.

One, he gets his rear-end handed to him, and he is not nominated.

Two, he gets nominated, completely fracturing the Democrat Party--which, really, at this point seems a foregone conclusion--and the Dems realize he is so damaged that he will not be elected.

But if two occurs, it'll be too late to undo the damage he will have done to their party or their lust to return to power.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving group.

Are the PUMA's planning an appearance at the convention? Does anyone know what they've got planned for it?

You can add me to the millions of pissed off Democrats with Obama. I will not vote for Obama under any circumstance. The party has thrown us out of the room by the treatment they gave to Hillary Clinton. Yes i am a full supporter of her and will continue to be, and no i will not get over and no i will not vote for Obama EVER. The party has more to loose when i change party affiliation.

A hardy welcome to sioux0707 and Persio to Monkey in the Middle. I hope you will be regular visitors here.

sioux0707 many of the Clinton delegates are PUMAs. They will be at the convention. They are planning something, but can't reveal what it is.

Persio welcome to our ranks. We independents are the fastest growing segment of the population. We are tired of the games that the Parties have been playing.

The timing is more than a little obvious. Now that Obama believes his nomination is safe, he is seeking to appease the former supporters of Hillary Clinton (or thumb his nose at them) by granting his permission for the votes of Florida and Michigan to have their votes counted - just like they would if they lived in America! Those lucky little voters! Isn't he generous?

A hardy welcome to hoofy. I hope you will visit Monkey in the Middle again.

Obama is trying to shore up his "base" of Democrats by this. I don't think it will work.
