But I Promise Not To Do Acts Of Terror
That was the cry that was told to Israel and the World when over 1,000 terrorist murders were released in exchanged for Gilad Shalit. It hasn't even been a month, but one of these murders had tried to carry out an act of terror. The IDF shot him. Then the trouble began.
A terrorist released in the Shalit deal is reportedly hospitalized and under IDF guard. It hasn't ended for the Jewish patient. It was just the beginning.
According to the family of a Jewish man hospitalized at Hadassah in Jerusalem, he has recently had to share his room with a terrorist who was apparently shot in the course of IDF counter-terror activity. The terrorist is under constant police and IDF guard.
The relatives told Arutz Sheva that they have been told that the terrorist was freed in the recent Shalit deal, and was recaptured after engaging in terror activity against Israel. This claim is currently uncorroborated.
The family members claim that the Arab man often behaves in a rowdy fashion and shouts in Arabic. They want him removed from the room.
The Jewish man was brought to the room for recovery from an operation for intestinal cancer. A few days later, the terrorist was wheeled in and he has had to suffer his presence ever since.
The Jewish man's grandson said: "I think it is madness to hold this terrorist in the same room as my grandfather. This is a terrorist with the blood of Jews on his hands – the family is having a hard time dealing with the presence of this thing in our room. I don’t understand – where is the hospital's sensitivity?"

The terrorist who was released in the Shalit deal and was recently hospitalized at the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem is still in the hospital, Arutz Sheva has learned.I applaud Israel, the IDF and Hadassah Hospital for the care they are giving this bundle of pig's feces, but it would have been more humane if they had allowed him to die upon the operating table. Just a thought.
The story first came to light a few weeks ago, when the family of a Jewish man hospitalized at Hadassah told Arutz Sheva he had to share his room with a terrorist who was apparently shot in the course of IDF counter-terror activity. The terrorist is under constant police and IDF guard.
The relatives said they had been told that the terrorist was freed in the recent Shalit deal, and was recaptured after engaging in terror activity against Israel.
On Tuesday, Arutz Sheva received a complaint from a second family who said that the terrorist is constantly shouting in the room and disturbing the other patients. According to the family, the terrorist is constantly allowed visitors.
The family members said they demand that the hospital get the terrorist out of the room and be more sensitive towards the other patients.
“No way should the hospital become a fortified terrorist prison,” said one family member. “This is total insensitivity. It’s uncomfortable to be inside such a room. A disgrace.”

Wednesday's Hero: Spc. Joseph A. Graves
Spc. Joseph A. Graves
21 years old from Discovery Bay, California
110th Military Police Company, 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade
July 26, 2006
Spc. Joseph Graves's dream was to work for the FBI and he saw that joining the Military was a way to help me do that. Joseph Graves enlisted in the Army at 17 and surprised his family when he went to jump school soon afterwards. "This was a kid I could hardly get to ski down a ski slope, because it was too intimidating," said his father, Kevin. "And now he's jumping out of airplanes." Spc. Graves was the lone casualty when his convoy was attacked by insurgents near Baghdad on July 26, 2006.
You can read more about Spc. Graves here

The five-year-old Palestinian underwent a kidney transplant at Beilinson Hospital. It is best to show apartheid in its full blossom. The donor? His father. The funder? The Civil Administration of Judea and Samaria, which donated NIS 380,000 to fully cover Ramal’s surgery and medicine.
Ramal’s surgery also reflected a recent trend: Increased security and stability in Judea and Samaria have reinforced coordination between the Civil Administration and Palestinian people. In 2011, the Civil Administration assisted five Palestinian families, donating NIS 2.5 million for organ transplants.

"I Would Fire Upon U.S. Citizens..."
The RESISTER has confirmed that US Navy SEAL platoons, including SEAL Team Six, Marine combat veterans stationed at Twenty-Nine Palms, CA, and Marine basic trainees at Camp Pendelton, CA, have been administered a questionnaire asking, among other things, if they would "...fire upon US citizens who refuse or resist confiscation of firearms banned by the US government."
The questionnaire was first administered to operators by the commanders of SEAL Team Six on 15 September 1993, then subsequently to the remaining SEAL platoons throughout September and October. Rumors began circulating in November that US Army DELTA operators were given the same or similar questionnaire. The SF Underground had been aware of the questionnaire since late September but our observers had been unable to secure a copy or confirm other than its substance consisted of questions pertaining to the subordination of the US Military to the UN and confiscation of the firearms of US citizens. In early January, 1994, we obtained a copy of the questionnaire from one of our DOD sympathizers but lacking corroboration we ran the story in Vol.I, No.1 of The RESISTER as a rumor.
On January 22, 1994, one of our observers copied a chilling message off the Internet from Petty Officer 2nd Class W. Kelly, US Navy Special Warfare Team Six, to D. Hawkins, Re: Gun Confiscation. Kelly began by stating that the questionnaire was "...to find out if we would follow the orders of commanding officers without question." (Kelly omitted the fact that the questionnaire assumes "commanding officers" gives equal authority to UN officers commanding US forces.) Kelly continued; "If you wish to find out how I answered I said yes I would fire and kill all persons attempting to resist...we aren't around to be the good guys." Remember, Kelly is referring to American civilians.
In February, 1994, MODERN GUN magazine ran a story on the elusive questionnaire which was subsequently circulated by various patriotic citizens groups. Then, on 10 May, 1994, the questionnaire was administered to Marine Desert Storm veterans at Twenty-Nine Palms, CA. A Marine smuggled a copy of the questionnaire out of the testing center and mailed it on 15 May, 1994, with a cover letter, to the editor of THE NEW AMERICAN, which ran the story in their July 11, 1994, issue. THE NEW AMERICAN quotes the Marine's impression that the questionnaire "was just research for this (Navy) commander's(sp) degree." The RESISTER obtained a copy of the Marine's letter, which actually states: "A Navy Commander came before us and said he was working on his masters degree and he was writing a paper about giving up our military's soverenty(sp) to the United Nations Secretary General."
The official DOD lie surrounding the questionnaire entitled "Combat Arms Survey," supports that of the Navy Commander. Significantly, the Combat Arms Survey was first given at the time Presidential Decision Directive (PDD) 25 was being prepared. The RESISTER's correspondent in the Pentagon staff of the Joint Chiefs of Staff confirms that PDD 25 surrenders control of the U.S. military to the United Nations. (A cursory survey of articles written by MACOM commanders and staff members in official military journals for the past year reveals a universal acceptance of U.N. control of the American military.)
The RESISTER has been eliciting responses to the questionnaire for the past year. Frighteningly, among service members with less than 10 years of service, 63% agree or strongly agree with question # 46: "I would fire upon U.S. citizens who refuse or resist confiscation of firearms banned by the U.S. government." Among new recruits almost 90% give the response: "If it's the law and they order me to do it I guess it's okay." Our federally controlled public schools have done their job.
Of those with more than 15 years of service, 87% replied "disagree" or "strongly disagree." Responses by members of the Special Forces Underground were unprintable; basically, there will not be many officers who give that order more than once.
The RESISTER has enclosed a copy of the Combat Arms Survey with this issue. As you read it pay particular attention to the qualifiers and their relation to recent articles in the official publications of the Department of Defense, the civilian media, and the policies of the federal government. *
Editorial Note The enclosed Combat Arms Survey is a true and accurate reproduction of the contents of the questionnaire. We altered the format to accommodate the The RESISTER's layout. THE EDITOR

Our civilian readers maybe wondering why the Combat Arms Survey was circulated so heavily within the Department of the Navy. The reason is simple; the Navy is not subject to USC Title 10 Posse Comitatus prohibitions against using federal military forces for domestic law enforcement. This includes the US Marine Corps.Just putting these questions to our military is wrong. Asking them to fire upon their fellow citizens is treasonable. Add the concept of RIFing senior officers and NCOs and we get a military that is extremely young, inexperienced, and loyal to Obama above the Constitution. A recipe not only for disaster but for the destruction of the United States.
Just thought you would like to know.

A Moral Tale For Our Times.
Gentlemen beware! This could happen to you:
A New York man was stunned to find out that his four-year-old twins were not an accidental pregnancy after all -- but that his desperate girlfriend secretly stashed away his sperm and used it for an in-vitro procedure, he charges in a lawsuit. If you don't want kids ever get a vasectomy. Otherwise a good dose of abstinence should be your plan of action.
Joseph Pressil, 36, was not planning on having children with Anetria Burnett, with whom he was in a relationship for six months in 2007, he said.
So she took matters into her own hands, he told the New York Post, in order to remain in his Texas house and make a legal bid for half of his possessions.
"A gold digger is an understatement. She was trying to get community property and alimony. She's ruthless," he said.
Now, Pressil is suing Burnett in Texas for custody of their sons.
"This is more than a nightmare -- it's a horror story," he told the Post.
Pressil, a telecommunications manager, said he hooked up with Burnett, 34, when he lived in Texas -- and was a little surprised when she announced she was pregnant.
"We always used condoms," he said. But when a DNA test proved him to be the father, Pressil said he began paying $800 a month in child support.
"At first, I doubted [the children were mine], but I figured I would wait until the twins were born," he said. "But when the kids were born, they looked just like me."
The real bombshell dropped last February, when Pressil got a strange receipt in the mail for sperm cryopreservation.
Confused, he called the company that had sent him the paperwork, which referred him to the Advanced Fertility Center of Texas, where a manager asked him to sign a release form.
That is when he said he uncovered the bizarre plot.
"She was taking [the semen in condoms] after the fact and running down to the clinic with it," said Jason Gibson, who is representing Pressil in his suit. He now has joint custody.
The fertility clinic's manager simply assumed he and his ex were married when she got the successful in-vitro fertilization procedure that resulted in the birth of the twins, his suit says.
Pressil then said he confronted Burnett, an exotic dancer, who allegedly told him, "Oh you're not stupid. I thought you knew."
"Her reason for doing it was to stay in the home -- because I had told her she had to leave my house when we broke up," he said.
She even filed to have him declared her common-law husband, he said, which would have entitled her to half his property. The filing was denied.

Why is the Brian Terry Murder Case Sealed?
Gary Fouse

Brian Terry
Jerry Seper, writing in the Washington Times brings up an important question in the case of murdered Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. The indictment against one of the Mexicans who killed Terry (he was wounded and captured) has been sealed by the Federal District Court in the Southern District of California in San Diego, which (supposedly) is prosecuting the case. Terry, as we know, was killed by two weapons involved in the ATF's Fast and Furious operation. Prior to sealing, the indictment indicated that the killers were part of an organized group that was seeking to hunt down and kill Border patrol agents. The question is also being asked whether agents were firing bean-bag rounds at the suspects, and if so, why?
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/nov/22/armed-illegals-stalked-border-patrol/?page=1
Several points stick out here aside from the obvious outrages of the Fast and Furious scandal and its on-going cover-up by the Department of Justice and others. Why is this indictment sealed? What are they trying to keep from becoming public knowledge? Is our government trying to conceal from the public just out-of-control our border with Mexico is? Are they trying to cover up the fact that they are sending BP agents into these areas armed with bean-bag firing shotguns instead of the lethal force that they know the traffickers possess? Just what kind of government negligence and malfeasance are we dealing with here?
If all this is true, what he have here is a case of a government that refuses to effectively secure our borders and compounds it by sending in Border Patrol agents to deal with well-armed, organized killers and fight them with beanbags-only to be killed by weapons furnished to the traffickers courtesy of Operation Fast and Furious!
Don't Border Patrol head Alan Bersin and DHS head Janet Napolitano have a duty to explain to the family of Brian Terry how this could happen? Forget about the dishonest and corrupt Eric Holder. He is busy denying his own responsibility and need to apologize to the Terry family.
Where the Hell is the outrage?

George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation
I originally posted this in 2010.
The origin of Thanksgiving Day has been attributed to a thanksgiving festival held by Plymouth colony in December 1621, although such celebrations date from ancient times. The idea of a day set apart to celebrate the completion of the harvest and to render homage to the Spirit who caused the fruits and crops to grow is ancient and universal. The practice of designating a day of thanksgiving for specific spiritual or secular benefits has been followed in many countries. From early colonial times the various American colonies celebrated thanksgiving days in recognition of such happy events as good harvests and victories over the Indians.
One of the first proclamations was made in Charleston, Massachusetts in 1676. President George Washington in 1789 issued the first presidential thanksgiving proclamation in honor of the new constitution. During the 19th century an increasing number of states observed the day annually, each appointing its own day. President Abraham Lincoln, on October 3, 1863, by presidential proclamation appointed the last Thursday of November as Thanksgiving Day, due to the unremitting efforts of Sarah J. Hale, editor of Godey's Lady's Book.
Each succeeding president made similar proclamations until Franklin D. Roosevelt, in 1939 appointed the third Thursday of November, primarily to allow a special holiday weekend for national public holiday. This was changed two years later by both congress and the President to the fourth Thursday of November. Thanksgiving Day remains a day when many express gratitude to God for blessings and celebrate material bounty.
And we should remember the men and women of our Armed Forces, many of whom are far from home, far from family, and serving on the front lines. Our prayers are with them and their families.
May your day be blessed and bright.

By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation.May we always remember the blessings that this nation gives us. The blessings of freedom that the majority of people in this world can only dream of.
Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor-- and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.
Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be-- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks--for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war--for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed--for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted--for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.
and also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions-- to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually--to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed--to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord--To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us--and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.
Go: Washington
And we should remember the men and women of our Armed Forces, many of whom are far from home, far from family, and serving on the front lines. Our prayers are with them and their families.
May your day be blessed and bright.
Thanksgiving Humor
Just a little humor to brighten up your day.
Thanksgiving is a religious holiday, a day of every religion.
Show off! My ancestors came over on Tramp Steamers.
The OWSers are threatening to block the doors of Target, etc... in order not to allow shoppers to enter. That is a bad idea. In fact never get between a woman and her shopping. You could experience this:
At least it will feel that way.
Don't over eat, OK over eat. Enjoy the day. This guy won't:
Or maybe he will.

Wednesday's Hero: Wreaths Across America
This Weeks Post Was Suggested By Kathi
Wreaths Across America has been profiled before and it will probably be profiled again because they are a great organization. For 20 years they have have laid Christmas wreaths on the headstones of our fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery. And this year, for their 20th year, their goal is to lay a wreath on every headstone, all 220,000, and they need our help. Head over to Help Wreaths Across America Cover Arlington and there you can find information on how you can do that. Whether it's via a donation or just getting the word out, anything we can do helps.
These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives just so others may get to enjoy freedom. For that I am proud to call them Hero.

Muslim Women In Maryland Force "Women's Only" Swimming Times At Public Pool
Cross posted from Holger Awakens
Here's the deal - we have a Muslim woman in Columbia, Maryland who didn't want us filthy damn infidels to see her body in a public swimming pool so she got together with all of her Muslim friends from the local mosque and petitioned the operator of the pool to designate a "women only" pool time JUST FOR THEM so no filthy damn infidels will view the chaste flesh of a follower of Mohammed.
So much for assimilating, huh?
Oh, and by the way...what are the odds that when about 20 Christian women show up to swim in their thong bikinis that these Muslim women lodge a complaint?
The story comes from The Baltimore Sun.
(Hat Tip: Vito@RadioJihadNetwork)
Columbia Association to hold woman-only swim times
Need grew from county's Muslim community
When Shehlla Khan's husband became ill, it fell on her to take their three children to the pool. But for Khan, who is Muslim, the task was difficult.
The Columbia resident said she was concerned about people watching her swim in the conservative, cover-all dress required by Islamic dress codes, and thinking: "What's wrong? Why can't you take it off?"
So Khan, 39, brought the issue up with members of her Dar Al-Taqwa mosque in Ellicott City. The mosque, along with members of a faith-based county group, People Acting Together in Howard, met with the Columbia Association to create a twice-weekly, women-only swim time, a trial that is scheduled to be announced Tuesday.
The Columbia Association, which operates 23 pools in Howard, will join other communities that have made similar accommodations to create a more welcoming atmosphere for Muslims and other female swimmers.
New York City's recreation and parks department offers a women-only swim time at the Metropolitan Recreation Center. Pools around Toronto and other cities have also offered similar options, according to news reports. And at a swimming pool in Seattle, Muslim woman have used brown paper to cover glass windows, providing privacy from the lobby.
Several private universities, including Harvard and George Washington, also have provided female-only swim times, with several hours a week set aside. But occasionally, such programs have run into opponents who suggest they unfairly cater to one group. At George Washington some complained, citing concerns over the program infringing on American liberties.
"It's a positive thing," said Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "Not everyone has the same needs. It's just expanding the level of interaction with the local community and recognizing that people are different. You're bringing people into your system who would otherwise be uncomfortable."
Hooper said such programs are beneficial to communities attempting to reach out to an otherwise isolated minority. The reserved times usually are scheduled when facilities might be under-utilized, he said.
He said he's heard of many instances where the issue grows from women in the Muslim community, but turns out to be a need felt by others.
That has been true in Columbia, as well.
For Katlin Lamke, 18, it was not a matter of religion, but of personal comfort.
"During puberty, my body was changing. I was getting made fun of or hit on," she said. "It was very embarrassing." She stopped going.
"She was really uncomfortable," said her mother, Amy Lamke, 46. "We both love the water, but the experience changed. When this came up …, I thought, 'What a great idea.'"
"Just for serenity, to have mother-daughter experience," she said, adding, "a pool isn't a bar. It isn't for singles."
Anne Gould, a 59-year-old Columbia resident who also supports the women-only swimming times, said, "There are times you want to be with just women."
But she added that the new policy will help include her Muslim neighbors. "This is just the right thing to do."
Raghid Shourbaji, president of the Howard County Muslim Council, said the need is growing because the county's Muslim population is growing. He said another indoor pool in Jessup has a similar program, but he hopes the one in Columbia will be more convenient.
His organization, which has been in existence for about 10 years, and the county's only mosque, Dar Al-Taqwa, are the only Muslim outlets in the county. They serve about 1,800 residents, based on mailing lists.
Safiyah Blake, a Columbia resident who is Muslim, has some practical reasons for using the women-only swim times.
"I want to take lessons to learn to put my head in the water," she said. "I never learned how to breathe."
But she agreed the pool experience can often drive Islamic women away.
"You can see people looking at you," Blake said. The women-only pool times will "bridge the gap. My sisters and I can jump in."
She plans to get out her burqini — a bathing suit that covers her arms and legs, and has a hood. The modest, cover-all swimsuit is often worn by Muslim women.
"It dries quicker than any other suit," Blake said.
Jessie Newburn, a spokeswoman with the Columbia Association, said "CA was founded on inclusion," and the organization jumped at the chance to establish the women-only pool times. "We were created for this."
The Columbia Swim Center in the Wilde Lake Village Center was chosen because it was the most-enclosed, with tinted windows to provide added privacy.
The women-only swim times will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the swim center; the trial period will run through the end of January.
Depending on the success at the indoor pools, Cynthia Marshall of PATH said the group might try to extend the program to outdoor pools, which might take some additional consideration.

Muslim Imam Refuses To Preach Terrorism Values! (Umm....He's Shot To Death That Night)
Cross posted from Holger Awakens
Okay, so you are an islamic imam in Pakistan and some jihadis come to you and ask that you start preaching the doctrine of jihad and also let them use your mosque as a terror center. So you say "No!" That's a good thing right? Well, not so good if you are the imam because Obaidullah Ustad did just that in Pakistan and later that night, the jihadis came back and filled him full of bullet holes.
He's now dead.
So much for standing up to the will of allah, huh?

Militants kill mosque cleric for resisting 'terrorist value' preaching
NOWSHERA: A mosque cleric was shot dead by militants in Nowshera District, after resisting their attempts to preach terrorism in his mosque Police said.
Obaidullah Ustad, imam of the Shaidu village mosque in Nowshera had earlier stopped militants from preaching “terrorist values” at the mosque. “It was because of this resistance that the militants returned later in the evening and shot him inside the mosque” District Police Officer (DPO)Muhammad Hussein said while speaking to The Express Tribune.
Obaidullah was severely injured and rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries hospital authorities said. Sources said that the militants wanted to have access to the mosque and use it as a base to find new recruits. The militants reportedly belonged to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Nowshera and its surrounding area have been the hub of militant activities in the recent past. On October 28, a suicide bomber claimed the life of two police officers as he attempted to target Ajmir Shah, the SHO who had started a massive operation against militants in the area.
Tea Party Debt Commission Meeting on Capitol Hill Shut Down by Chuck Schumer
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) shut down a long-planned gathering of Tea Party members on Capitol Hill by claiming a suspicious package was found. As you will see from the video below, the eviction of the fully "occupied" room in the Russell Senate office building had nothing to do with a suspicious package and everything to do with silencing a gathering of constituents designed to discuss U.S. debt.
The meeting, set-up by freshman Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), was moved to a property owned by Hillsdale College, and continued there. Republicans in attendance: Senators Mike Lee (the organizer) and Rand Paul, along with Congressmen Joe Walsh (IL), Steve King (IA), Mike Pence (IN), Mick Mulvaney (SC), and Paul Brown (GA).
Congressional Democrats, extending all the way to the Oval Office, have been very interested in listening to the occupiers on Wall Street and around the country, yet not a single Democrat show up to hear the ideas of Tea Partiers. Unbelievable! Thanks to Gateway Pundit.

The Amazing Saga of Dr Frankenshu and the Solyndra Monster
Gary Fouse
fousesquawk
Once upon a time, there was a renowned physicist in California named Dr Frankenchu. He lived quietly and worked every day in his laboratory experimenting on exciting things like cooling and trapping atoms with laser beams.
He was also a science professor at the famous University of California at Berkeley teaching the next generation of scientists.
Then one day, his life changed forever as he learned that he had inherited a huge castle in Washington DC called the Department of Energy.
Relocating to Washington and taking over the castle, he was even furnished with his own lab, as well as a staff of assistants including a mysterious man named Steve Spinner, nicknamed Igor.
One day, Igor suggested to Dr Frankenchu that they collaborate together in their lab to create a monster. Dr Frankenchu was intrigued. He didn't quite know how to go about it.
But Igor had connections in very high places.....
He knew the emperor.
And the emperor liked the idea. Besides, he owed Igor a favor.
The next thing Dr Frankenchu knew, he had tons of money to finance his monster. Five hundred and thirty five million dollars, in fact. All he had to do was spend it.
When Dr Frankenchu asked Igor where all that money came from, Igor responded, "Don't worry about it."
Yet, there were others in the castle who had grave doubts about this monster. "It is dangerous", they said. "Don't do this", they warned.
Poor Dr Frankenchu didn't know what to do. He was torn. After all, he was just a simple scientist who only wanted to work in his lab. What did he know about running a castle?
But Igor kept up the pressure.
"The emperor wants this done", he insisted. Furthermore, the vice-emperor was willing to come to the lab himself and witness the creation of the monster-even give a speech, according to Igor.
"That's a big fu----' deal."
Meanwhile, preliminary studies were anything but encouraging. It just didn't look like this monster was going to be able to get off the ground.
In the end, however, the generous financial support from the emperor carried the day. The monster was created!
"It's alive!!!
"What shall we call it?" asked Dr Frankenchu.
Igor replied, "Let's call it SOLYNDRA."
acclaim. My name will be in all the newspapers of the land. A Nobel Prize. I will be invited to testify before Congress."
"Surely, you will," replied Igor.
So was born Solyndra, thanks to the work of Dr Frankenchu.
Soon, however, things began to go wrong. The monster known as Solyndra left the laboratory. Soon people began to disappear. In fact, over 1,100 people in all disappeared, as did the monster known as Solyndra. His dead body was eventually discovered in a place called Fremont, California, but the damage was done.
What happened? Soon investigators and a few folks in the media (not that many) began to ask questions of Dr Frankenchu.
Gradually, the townspeople learned of what was going on in that castle known as the Department of Energy, and they became angry.
They wanted answers. How could this happen? They turned to the emperor.
The emperor refused to accept responsibility. The monster was dead. It was time to move on.
It was left to poor Dr Frankenchu to shoulder the blame and be left holding the bag.

Dear Reader,
At this point, all that is left is the epilogue to this scary story. Will the malefactors be brought to justice? For that, you will have to await the sequel. Stay tuned.
Allen West on DownSizing Military and Torture
The recent Republican debate's question about waterboarding has brought the discussion to the fore again. Florida's Congressman Allen West has some clear thoughts on the subject. You may remember that then-Colonel Allen West fired a bullet past the head of an Iraqi man who had information on explosives that put his men at risk. The whizzing bullet happened, and then the man started talking. West was brought before a board to explain why he took the action (that didn't hurt the Iraqi) and his answer was, "I will walk through hell with a gas can to save my men." That's an American hero. So, no surprise that West was asked, this week, to talk about waterboarding once again. First he reminded that actress Demi Moore was waterboarded in the movie GI Jane. As you would expect, West is concerned about the possible funding cuts to the Military if Congress can't get it's act together and drastically slash spending. He discusses the reality of those funding cuts and says we cannot make our Military, their families and Veterans, the bill payers for fiscal irresponsibility.
Fox News:
Congressman Allen West
Fox News:
The President is the benefactor of a lot of information that came from waterboarding and the important thing is, when you look at the precedent, non-state, non-uniformed belligerents captured on the battle field, under the Geneva Convention are not afforded the same type of rights. We can make that determination. As the President, you need to do those things which are necessary to make sure the American people are kept safe. I see that when we continue to read Miranda Rights to such as the Underwear Bomber, we are using the leverage and advantage we have, and in the movie GI Jane, DemiMoore was waterboarded and we do use that in military training and survival escape and evasion training.Congressman West is asked what he feels about the possibility of the Military suffering massive hits to funding if the SuperCommittee does not come with the necessary cuts to spending:
I'm very concerned. What we saw last week was members on the House and Senate side showed that you can get revenues, not by raising taxes, but by simply lowering rates and eliminating loopholes and other savings within the tax code, and they walked away from it.
So it's interesting. I have this little sheet I carry around talking about the impacts of defense. You are talking about an Army that goes from 569,000 down to 426,000. You are talking about going from 288 Navy war vessels down to 238. One hundred Army maneuver battalions down to 60-70. We can't have...the Military, the families of the Military and the Veterans, the bill payers of fiscal irresponsibility.View the video at the Fox News link above.
Betting on Energy Flops Over Energy Successes
Chris Horner is reporting in the right circumstances, clean energy investors can make more money with a flop than with a success. Perhaps Tulsa's George Kaiser used this scheme when he sunk $337 Million into the failed Solyndra, and arranged for first access to liquidation funds in bankruptcy court, ahead of American taxpayers. Perhaps Obama understands this well, and perhaps the huge recent loans to fledgling energy companies (after Solyndra) will provide Obama donors with big tax write-offs, and Obama with funds to slay our nation.
Chris Horner
So it was with great amusement that I caught, on my flight back this weekend, some art imitating life in a spectacularly appropriate way. Accountant Leo Bloom revealed to producer Max Bialystock, “under the right circumstances, a producer could actually make more money with a flop than he can with a hit”. Voila! There you have, in a Broadway second, President Obama’s ‘clean energy’ agenda.
Government Electric – once a bastion of American genius now fallen to being no more than a government front company – and the rest of the ‘renewables’ Music Men (to note another apt vehicle) are the Bialystock and Bloom of policy. They seek to make their fortune by producing flops. But since their ‘markets’ are arranged by pals in government and not due to performance, it works. That’s the beauty of it.
Horner on Obama's investment - a "pledge" to "seal our bankruptcy:"
Obama’s wind and solar boondoggle so far includes – according to his own Council on Economic Advisors – $90 billion in ‘green energy’ stimulus spending for 190,000 inherently temporary jobs (think: census job, as each lasts only so long as the state support, meaning it is yet another state-created bubble). That is $450,000 per job. The pledge to create’ millions of such jobs at your expense is a vow to seal our bankruptcy.
Renewables are the most expensive way for all of its constantly shifting excuses, including a) to produce energy, b) to create jobs and c) to reduce emissions. And pouring money into centuries old technology as state-picked ‘winners’ delays rather than expedites tech development and advancement.
There is much more in Horner's article posted at BigGovernment, including information on Newt Gingrich's fondness for solar and wind.
The Myth of the "Moderate" Islamist
Cross posted from Holger Awakens
This article over at Family Security Matters tackles the myth of the "moderate" Islamist - we've all heard the phrase when we hear about Muslim political parties across the globe - the media always tries to present these "good" and "bad" choices and I've always said...there ARE no good choices.
This article over at Family Security Matters tackles the myth of the "moderate" Islamist - we've all heard the phrase when we hear about Muslim political parties across the globe - the media always tries to present these "good" and "bad" choices and I've always said...there ARE no good choices.
What Does "Moderate" Islamist Mean?
In the run-up to the Tunisian Constituent Assembly elections and the aftermath that saw a plurality of seats won by the al-Nahda (Renaissance) party, you may have noticed frequent references in the media to this political organization as a "moderate Islamist" party. This is of course not the first time such terms have been used to denote Islamist political factions: recall for example how the ruling AKP party in Turkey is often called "mildly Islamist" (to borrow the Economist's phrasing).
Unfortunately, however, such terminology can only be characterized as part of what Hussein Ibish - director of the American Task Force on Palestine - calls an "intellectually and politically indefensible rush" to portray Islamist parties as "more moderate or pluralistic than they actually are."
Take the case of al-Nahda in Tunisia, which outperformed by a factor of two most analysts' expectations that it would win 20% of seats at most. The party's leader- Rashid Ghannouchi- has tried to reassure secularists of his supposedly moderate credentials by pointing to the example of Turkey, which is often viewed as a model for harmonizing secular traditions with Islamism under the allegedly pragmatic AKP.
In fact, the AKP government's record demonstrates how the Islamists in Turkey have gradually been reversing the democratic reform process that was initiated in the first three years after the AKP's rise to power in the 2002 elections. The aim at the time was to win EU membership for Turkey, and given the widespread support among the Turkish population back then for such a goal, as well as the fact that the military had intervened to ban the AKP's ideological predecessor known as the "Welfare Party" in 1998, the AKP pragmatically went along with implementing the reform process.
Yet since 2005, as the EU bid process has stalled, the AKP's authoritarian tendencies have become increasingly apparent, in accordance with a step-by-step implementation of an Islamization program also supported by the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Examples of these worrying trends include wiretaps on the cell phones of political opponents, hefty "tax fines" imposed on the independent media company Dogan, which was recently forced to sell one of its three television channels to reduce the fines, and greater control of the media as a whole by pro-AKP businesses as Turkish authorities have lobbied to reduce Dogan's share of the media market.
Meanwhile, more and more journalists and military figures have been imprisoned on flimsy allegations of coup plots. As the International Press Institute reports, Turkey leads the world in the number of jailed journalists, with 57 currently behind bars, and as analyst Soner Cagaptay points out, around half of all Turkish naval admirals have been imprisoned.
On the wider international stage, the AKP government has pushed for the Muslim Brotherhood to take advantage of the unrest in Syria, while Assad hopes to use the Kurds as proxies against Turkey by granting them autonomy, according to a report in Le Figaro. The AKP's belligerence towards Cyprus and Israel is also worthy of note, as the Turkish prime minister has threatened to send "frigates, gunboats and…air force" against Cyprus should it go ahead with plans to exploit potentially very large oil and gas reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean's international waters.
Coming back to Tunisia, Ghannouchi is also on record in Arabic for pointing to Hamas-led Gaza as the "model for freedom today." The Palestinian areas are a case in point to discuss. It is of course true that Hamas was democratically elected in the Palestinian legislative elections in 2006, but Hamas' term in power expired last year and the group has since blocked all attempts by the Palestinian Authority to hold elections.
The reason for Hamas' behavior here is the blow to its popularity the group has suffered for its poor governance in Gaza, where Fatah was ousted from power completely in 2007 and where Hamas has established the rule of Islamic law.
Thus, one must surely concur with Ibish's point that "it's simply foolish not to recognize that they [the Islamist parties] remain in every meaningful sense radical and retain their totalitarian impulses. That they would like to broadly and severely restrict the rights of individuals, women and minorities in the name of religion is obvious."
Given the significant support base groups like al-Nahda and the Muslim Brotherhood have, does it follow that we are back to the old dichotomy of "secular tyranny or Islamists"? Not necessarily. The general point to be made is that if democracy is going to work in the Middle East and North Africa, strong constitutional checks on government power, enforced by the military, together with a firm, healthy secular opposition are needed to prevent Islamists from attaining unrestrained power.
Hence, secularists can learn much from the Turkish experience with the AKP. First, the military should not be afraid to confront the government if the warning signs of Islamist authoritarianism become apparent. Unfortunately, after hundreds of arrests, the Turkish officer corps is choosing to act too late, if it is planning on any action to counter the AKP's autocratic initiatives. In Tunisia, it is disconcerting to note that the army appears to be largely withdrawing from the political realm, while in Egypt, the army panders to Islamist sentiment, as when it facilitated an attack on the Israeli embassy in Cairo and massacred Coptic Christian protestors in Maspero, Cairo.
In the meantime, secularist parties in Tunisia and other countries need to put aside factionalist squabbling and stand together in the promotion of liberal-democratic values, while making an effort to offer a comprehensive program of policies for voters, rather than just attacking the Islamist parties for their radical records. In Turkey, the opposition has failed to get its act together for ten years, and is behaving too erratically, condemning for the pure sake of being oppositional more sensible AKP policies like the stationing of a NATO radar system.
Ultimately, the solution for reducing the appeal of the Islamist parties and eventually marginalizing them lies in reform within mainstream Islam to bring the religion as a whole in line with modern conceptions of human rights and liberal democracy- above all in separating Shari'a from the public realm- but the suggestions outlined above should stand a reasonable chance of at least keeping the Islamist parties in check and perhaps forcing them to moderate out of political expediency, even as they remain radical at heart.
Update: Secretary-General of Al-Nahda- Hamadi Jbeli, was also recently caught on film footage proclaiming "We are in the sixth Caliphate, God willing." So much for "moderate Islamist," then.
