Today is the last night/day of The Festival of Lights. The holiday that celebrates an Israeli military victory over the Syrian/Greeks. Without the Maccabees revolt Judaism would have died. The implications of that is the historical loss of the world's conscience, and that the world would never have seen the rise of Christianity. At least in the form we have today.
