Police In California Are Now Treating Burned Qur'an Case As A Hate Crime

Cross Posted by Holger Awakens

Give me a damn break. This story came out a few days ago but it's now been updated in the police eyes as a "hate crime." Burning a Qur'an is now a hate crime?!!! WTF?

From CBS2:

Police say they are investigating a burnt Quran found outside an Orange County mosque as a hate crime.

The Orange County Register reported Friday that Costa Mesa police Sgt. Phil Meyers said elements of the incident have led authorities to believe it was a crime of hate. A congregant of the Islamic Educational Center of Orange County found the torched Quran in the parking lot on New Year's Day. The incident upset congregants who gasped when they saw the burned book.
Okay, before I blow a gasket here, let me just say that this whole incident, in my view, is bogus as hell. This member of this mosque just happens upon a burned Qur'an in the mosque parking lot ...while everyone else is inside, of course...so he runs into the mosque and delivers the scorched word of the moongod to the imam in front of the whole "congregation" and of course, they all groan and moan and scream in anguish. I'd say that Haji pretty much burned the damn thing himself and decided to get the whole place all riled up, don't you?

But, looking past that...what does this all mean? If burning a Qur'an is a hate crime, then what does it mean to place a Crucifix in a vile of human urine? Oh, I forgot, that's "art." So let me ask the question...can I go into a bookstore, buy a Qur'an, sit on my front porch and burn said Qur'an or will the police come arrest me? Let me ask another question - if an islamist in Dearborn, Michigan joined a protest in the middle of main street and proceeded to burn a Holy Bible for all to see, do you think he'd be arrested for a hate crime?

I, personally, detest the very invention of "hate crime." I'm of belief that crime is crime - it is a violation of laws on the books. If I burn a Qur'an, how can you possibly prove that I did it out of "hate" ? If I'm a white man and walk into a convenience store and shoot dead the Hispanic clerk and don't take a thing from the store, did I kill out of hate? Who gives a shit. I broke the law of murdering or manslaughtering a human being. That's my crime and I face the punishment.

Part of the freedoms in this country are not to be criminalized for expression - if I want to burn a U.S. flag, I can do that. If I want to burn a Qur'an, I can do that. If I want to paint a swastika, I can do that. If I burn a cross on another man's property, I've committed a crime of endangerment and trespassing. If I paint a swastika on a community center wall, I'm guilty of vandalism and trespassing. But the islamists will push this hate crime issue to the limit...it is, after all, part of the soft jihad in America which is hellbent on altering the freedoms of Americans in regards to the treatment of muslims.

What's next? If I draw a cartoon of Mohammed fucking a goat in my notebook at college, I'll be arrested for a hate crime?

Police Probe Burned Quran At Mosque As Hate Crime

COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) Police say they are investigating a burnt Quran found outside an Orange County mosque as a hate crime.

That same day, the Muslim component of a holiday display was defaced in the Orange County city of Mission Viejo. Authorities do not believe the two incidents are linked.

Counterterrorism Calendar 2010 - Interactive Four Color

 by Maggie @ Maggie's Notebook

No wonder Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab's name did not show up on our terrorist watch lists. The folks at the National Counterterrorism Center were scurrying around to meet the deadline for their new 2010 counterterrorism calendar, which is an interactive four-color publication -  under the masterful direction of the National Counterterrorism Chief, Michael Leiter. There is also a 'daily planner' version in a pdf doc. Not sure how we use it for daily planning. It is 160 pages - that's a lot to print out. hmmmm. Maybe we can order it, but...don't see that info anywhere on the website.

Counterterrorism Calendar 2010

The interactive calendar details terrorist groups, methods and tactics, terrorist profiles, and a list of rightwing extremists (nah, just kidding about that last one). There is an interactive map with a guide to the history, areas of operation and the current status of terrorist groups. I launched the map and found al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (Yemen) - the one Janet Napolitano was so amazed to find still yet determined to kill us, or maybe it was news to her the Yemen group even existed.

I launched the interactive historical timeline of terrorism and clicked on December. Abdulmutallab was not profiled. Maybe we're still not certain the Christmas Day underpants bomber was a terrorist.

Under Methods and Tactics, there is a category for "Terrorism Definitions." "Politically motivated violence" is mentioned. Religious violence is not mentioned, but that's fair because Islam is a government, not just a religion. You might remember that we recently officially renamed terrorists as "unprivileged enemy belligerents." "Belligerents are mentioned as "mismatched in their military capabilities...."

We have only four countries listed as state sponsors of terrorism: Cuba, Iran, Sudan and Syria.

The Terrorist Exclusion List Designees (TEL) excludes members of their organization on the list from immigrating. Hamas didn't make the list.

Git yer counterterrorism calender here.

"Shabbat from hell. Everywhere, the acrid smell of bodies hangs in the air. It's just like the stories we are told of the Holocaust - thousands of bodies everywhere."

Are the words ZAKA headquarters in Jerusalem read in the e-mail sent by Mati Goldstein from Haiti.

The large field hospital established by the IDF Medical Corps at 10 a.m. Shabbat local time was already treating dozens of patients four hours later, when its commander, Lt.-Col. Dr. Itzik Reiss, was able to take a breather and speak to Israeli health reporters via a conference call.

Children with severe fractures set only with cardboard arrived at the hospital for treatment. Some young patients had been freed from rubble but had to have limbs amputated due to severe gangrene, he said. Within a few hours, operations were performed.

The hospital has an emergency room, pediatric, orthopedic, internal medicine, obstetrics and surgery departments, clinics and other facilities. The delivery room and premature baby unit are prepared to function but have not yet received any women or infants.

The patients started arriving after a local hospital, unable to function normally, announced the IDF facility's existence.

The Israeli facility, set up in very hot and humid weather, has enough equipment to function for about two weeks. The 121-member team has 40 doctors, including a psychiatrist, 20 nurses, 20 paramedics and medics, 20 lab and X-ray technicians and administrators.

Among the staff are Orthodox Jews who went to Haiti even though it was Shabbat. Reiss said they avoided performing unnecessarily tasks like shaving, but did everything needed to save lives. The military personnel are both regular army and reserve soldiers.

Meanwhile, the ZAKA rescue and recovery contingent pulled eight students alive from the collapsed university building, after a 38 operation.

"You have to understand that the situation is true madness, and the more time passes, there are more and more bodies, in numbers that cannot be grasped. It is beyond comprehension," said Mati Goldstein, the head of the delegation.

The six-man team - four from Israel and two from Mexico - arrived in Haiti aboard a Mexican Air Force Hercules cargo plane, immediately after completing their work in recovery and identification in the Mexico City helicopter crash that killed philanthropist Moshe Saba and four others.

On arrival, the delegation was dispatched to the collapsed eight-story university building, from which cries could be heard.

After hours of work with rescue equipment provided by the Mexican military, the ZAKA volunteers succeeded in pulling the eight students out alive.

In a disturbing e-mail that Goldstein managed to send to ZAKA headquarters in Jerusalem, he writes of the "Shabbat from hell. Everywhere, the acrid smell of bodies hangs in the air. It's just like the stories we are told of the Holocaust - thousands of bodies everywhere."

Amid the stench and chaos, the ZAKA delegation took time out to recite Shabbat prayers - a surreal sight of haredi men wrapped in prayer shawls standing on the collapsed buildings. Many locals sat quietly in the rubble, staring at the men as they prayed facing Jerusalem.

At the end of the prayers, they crowded around the delegation and kissed the prayer shawls.

Due to the breakdown in communications in Haiti, the ZAKA delegation was unable to make contact before Shabbat with the IDF Home Front Command contingent that is now in the country.

Test Your Palestine IQ

Just a short quiz kiddies.  Nothing to it.  Relax, take your time, enjoy.

This will count towards your grade.
If, like many people, you have clear views on the Arab-Israel conflict, and/or you are convinced that you know how to bring peace to the Middle East--or you just want to see how much you know, you are invited to try the following quiz.

Answer the questions but don't check them until you are finished. Check your score at the bottom.

1. As is well known, Palestine is the Holy Land for Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Palestine’s sanctity in Islam is expressed in the fact that the Koran mentions Palestine:
a) 1,034 times;
b) 837 times;
c) 408 times;
d) 1 time;
e) never.

2. Jerusalem is the third holiest city for Islam (after Mecca and Medina). In honour of this status, the Koran refers to Jerusalem as:
a) Al-Kuds (“The Holy”);
b) Al-Medina al-Kuds (“The Holy City”);
c) Urusalim (“Jerusalem”);
d) Al-Kibla al-Awalani (“The First Direction [of prayer]”);
e) By no name, because Jerusalem is never mentioned in the Koran.

3. The Dome of the Rock, on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, is one of Islam’s holiest
shrines. In accordance with this sanctity, Moslems pray on the Temple Mount:
a) facing the Dome of the Rock;
b) in the north-west section, to face the Dome and Mecca simultaneously;
c) standing facing the Dome of the Rock, kneeling facing Mecca;
d) facing the Dome of the Rock for certain prayers, Mecca for others;
e) kneeling facing Mecca, their backsides towards the Dome of the Rock.

4. The Jewish claim to the Holy Land is that God promised it to them. Moses – the Jewish national leader – is quoted as saying: “O my people! Remember the bounty of God upon you…and gave you that which had not been given to anyone before you amongst the nations. O my people! Enter the Holy Land which God has decreed for you”. This speech of Moses is recorded in:
a) the Book of Exodus;
b) the Book of Isaiah;
c) the Talmud;
d) the Midrash;
e) the Koran (Sura 5:20-21).

5. In popular literature, historical discussions, political debates, and other forums, the Palestinians’ standard claim is that they are:
a) the descendants of the Biblical Philistines (a European tribe originating in Crete, who invaded the Holy Land in the early Biblical period);
b) the continuation of the Biblical Canaanites (a Hamatic tribe, in perpetual warfare against the Philistines);
c) the descendents of the earliest Christians (i.e. Jews);
d) an integral part of the Arab nation (a Semitic nation originating in Arabia, and entirely unconnected to the Philistines, the Canaanites, and the Jews);
e) all of the above.

6. In the period of history that Palestine was an independent country, its capital city was:
a) Jerusalem;
b) Jaffa;
c) Haifa;
d) Ramallah;
e) meaningless, because there was never in history an independent country called Palestine, so it never had a capital city.

7. The earliest mention of a place called Palestine in history is:
a) in the Hebrew Bible, in the Book of Genesis, when God commanded Abraham to go to
Palestine;
b) in the Hebrew Bible, in the Book of Joshua, when the Israelites conquered Palestine;
c) in a stone plaque dating from about 600 BCE, commemorating the Babylonian conquest of Palestine;
d) in the New Testament;
e) in the year 135 CE, after the European Roman invaders defeated the Jewish revolt in Judea, and re-named the province Palestine.

8. “There is no such country [as Palestine]! ‘Palestine’ is a term the Zionists invented! There is no Palestine in the Bible. ‘Palestine’ is alien to us.”
Who said these words?
a) Golda Meir, Prime Minister of Israel, in a speech to the American Zionist Organisation, 1972;
b) Moshe Dayan, Minister of Defence of Israel and former Chief of Staff of the Israel Defence Forces, addressing the General Staff, 1968;
c) Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, in his election victory speech, 1996;
d) Abba Eban, Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, in a speech in 1981;
e) Auni Bey Abdul-Hadi, a local Arab leader, addressing the British Peel Commission, 1937.

9. “The ‘Palestinian People’ does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the State of Israel.”
Who said this?
a) Egyptian dictator, President Gamal Abdul Nasser, addressing the Egyptian parliament, a month after the Six Day War, July 1967;
b) Jordanian King Hussein, a week before the Six Day War, May 1967;
c) Syrian dictator, President Hafez al-Assad, addressing the Arab League, 1994;
d) Iraqi dictator President Saddam Hussein, addressing the Iraqi nation in a televised speech, 2002;
e) Zahir Muhsein, executive member of the PLO, in an interview with the Dutch newspaper Trouw, March 1977.

10. On the eve of Israel’s independence in May 1948, approximately 600,000 Arabs lived in the areas that would soon become the State of Israel. When the War of Independence was over (March 1949), 150,000 Arabs were still there. This is why the UNRWA (United Nations Relief Works Agency) officially recognized that the number of Arab refugees was:
a) 450,000;
b) 600,000;
c) 850,000;
d) 1,000,000;
e) 1,300,000

11. In June 1982, the Israel Defence Forces entered south Lebanon to fight against the PLO, which had invaded Lebanon in 1975. The total population in southern Lebanon was about 400,000, of whom vast numbers – perhaps as many as 10% – fled northwards to escape the fighting. UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon)officially estimated the the number of refugees as:
a) 40,000;
b) 80,000;
c) 120,000;
d) 250,000;
e) 600,000.

12. The Palestine National Covenant (the constitution of the PLO) states that “Palestine, with the boundaries it had during the British Mandate, is an indivisible territorial unit” (Article 2). 77% of this “indivisible territorial unit” is today:
a) the State of Israel, and the remaining 23% is Judea and Samaria (the “West Bank”) and Gaza;
b) Israel (including Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, i.e. the “occupied territories”), and the remaining 23% are the border areas of various neighbouring Arab states;
c) Judea, Samaria, and Gaza (the “occupied territories”), and the remaining 23% is divided between Israel and Jordan;
d) Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, and the remaining 23% has been annexed to the State of Israel;
e) The Kingdom of Jordan, and the remaining 23% is Israel (including Judea, Samaria, and Gaza).

13. As its name suggests, the raison d’etre of the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organisation) is to liberate Palestine. Accordingly, the PLO has fought to establish its independent state in:
a) the whole of Israel, starting with Judea, Samaria, and Gaza (the “occupied territories”);
b) sovereign Israel alone, rejecting any claim to Judea, Samaria, and Gaza (prior to the Six Day War);
c) Jordan (in the late 1960s and early 1970s)
d) Lebanon (from the mid-1970s until 1982);
e) All of the above.

14. The PLO’s purpose, as they and their supporters make clear, is to liberate the “occupied territories” which Israel captured in the Six Day War (5th-10th June 1967). This claim is proven by the historical fact that the PLO was founded:
a) in Ramallah, the biggest city in the West Bank, a month after the Six Day War;
b) in Gaza City, which has traditionally been a centre of Palestinian nationalism, on the first anniversary of the Six Day War;
c) as a response to the establishment of the first Israeli settlement in Hebron in 1969;
d) on the 10th anniversary of the Six Day War, in June 1977, in Hebron;
e) 3½ years before the Six Day War, on 1st January 1964, in Cairo (the capital of Egypt).

15. In the 25-year period 1950-1974, the Arab countries (including Iran) donated a total of $26,476,750 in aid to Palestinian refugees, representing 0.04% (i.e. $1 out of every $2,500) of their combined oil revenue for 1974 alone. The only country in the entire Middle East which gave no aid at all to Palestinian refugees was:
a) Israel;
b) Iran;
c) Libya;
d) Jordan;
e) Algeria.

16. Israel has often been accused of “ethnic cleansing” of the Arabs in the “occupied territories”. The demography bears this out, because the Arab population of Judea, Samaria, and Gaza has:
a) plummeted from 6,500,000 in 1967 to 3,000,000 in 2009;
b) plummeted from an estimated 5,000,000 in 1967 to less than 2,000,000 in 2009;
c) remained steady at 3,000,000, despite huge natural growth in the rest of the world;
d) increased at one tenth of the pace of natural population growth;
e) increased from about 750,000 in 1967 to an estimated 3,700,000 in 2009, a population growth of nearly 500% in barely more than a generation, which is one of the highest rates of increase anywhere in the world.

17. Israel has also been accused of “ethnic cleansing” of Arabs who are citizens of the state, and deliberately enforcing policies designed to keep the Arab population small. This, too, is shown by the demography, in that the Israeli Arab population has:
a) dropped from slightly over 1,000,000 (40% of the overall population) in 1948 to 750,000 (20% of the population) in 2009;
b) remained at a steady 1,000,000 from 1948 to 2009, while the overall population has increased seven-fold;
c) increased from 500,000 in 1948 to 1,000,000 in 2009, representing a drop from 35% of the overall population to just 12% in 58 years;
d) decreased steadily by 2% per year from 1948 onwards;
e) increased from 150,000 (15% of the overall population) in 1948 to about 1,420,000 (22% of the overall population) in 2009.

18. As of 2009, there are five universities (the Islamic University of Hebron; Bir Zeit University; Bethlehem University; Al-Najah University in Shechem [Nablus]; and Al-Ahzar in Gaza), and five religious higher education academies, throughout the “occupied territories”. These institutes are:
a) all that remain of 25 institutes of higher education, the others having been destroyed by the Israeli occupation forces;
b) some of the oldest in the Arab world, with the Islamic University of Hebron having been founded under the original Caliphate in the 8th century;
c) forced to operate secretly, because the Israeli authorities have banned them;
d) barely tolerated by the Israeli authorities;
e) all founded since the Israeli “occupation” of 1967, under Israeli auspices, the oldest one being the Islamic University of Hebron, founded in 1971.

19. Since the Israeli “occupation” of Judea, Samaria, and Gaza in 1967, nine Palestinians have been sentenced to death by the courts and judicially executed, and scores – probably hundreds – more have been executed in extra-judicial killings. All of them, without exception, were executed:
a) by the Israeli military occupation authorities;
b) by the Israeli Army after military courts-martial;
c) by the Israeli civil administration, following criminal trials in civilian courts;
d) by Israeli civilian courts, acting under special emergency regulations;
e) since September 1993 by the Palestinian Authority in the autonomous zones, because Israel, alone in the Middle East, does not use the death penalty.

20. In early October 2005, an estimated 650 people charged the security fence/separation barrier, and an estimated 350 succeeded in crossing it. Security forces responded with bayonets, shotguns, and rubber bullets, killing between ten and fifteen people and injuring dozens more. This incident was given minimal media attention, and has been entirely forgotten, because:
a) the world media is biased in Israel’s favour;
b) a dozen Palestinians killed is so commonplace, it is not even newsworthy;
c) the Israeli authorities imposed a media blackout;
d) Jewish settlers intimidated the journalists and photographers into silence;
e) the incident occurred along the security fence in Morocco, separating sovereign Morocco from the Spanish Sahara, and the security forces in question were Spanish.

Scoring

Every a) is worth 1 point; every b) is worth 2 points; every c) is worth 3 points; every d) is worth 4 points; every e) is worth 5 points.

Now add up your score.

If your score is 20, then you answered a) to every question. This means that you got every single answer wrong, and that you are politically correct and base your ideas of the Middle East on standard anti-Israel and pro-Arab propaganda lies rather than on the truth. Since you are more concerned with Israel-bashing than truth, and since you parrot every canard peddled by pro-Arab propagandists, you are ideally suited to become a European career diplomat accredited to the Middle East, or a BBC or CNN reporter, or a journalist for Haaretz.

If your score is between 21 and 99, then you might have a more open mind than others, and you might know slightly more than the average media report contains. You might be interested in studying more on the subject.

If your score is 100, then you answered e) to every question. This means that you got every answer right. This suggests that you have a good, solid knowledge of the issues involved and are uninfluenced by propaganda. Be careful: people infected by independent and honest thought tend to become targets of Islamic terrorists and their left-wing cohorts. At the very least, they get demonized as “right-wing fanatics”.

If your score is below 20 or above 100, this means that you cannot count properly. Why not consider a career as the Secretary General of the United Nations?

Thank God for Andy Choudary

Prayers For Peace, Rockets, And A New Daycare Center.

This month has been busy for the residents of Sderot (pronounced:  STAY'rot).  Let us start with this bit of optimism.
Sderot, Israel (31.12.09): Hours before the new year, as hundreds of pro-Palestinian and Arab demonstrators gathered at the Erez Crossing chanting "Katyushas on Ma'alot, Qassams on Sderot," while Israeli demonstrators at another Gaza viewpoint a few meters away gathered together to communicate a very different message.

A group of Israelis singing songs of peace versus a group of Arabs calling for the bombing of these people.  And the idiots on the left (especially the ones in the White House, Speaker's Office and the Senate Majority Leader) all have concluded that Israelis don't want peace, only Arabs do.
And black is white, good is bad, up is down.  Nothing to see here folks...just move along.

That was the optimism.  Now for the news:
Worst Rocket Escalation to Strike Israel Since Operation Cast Lead

by Anav Silverman

Since Operation Cast Lead, over 306 rockets have been fired from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. On Sunday, January 10, Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu told cabinet ministers that he regarded the recent escalation of rocket attacks very seriously.

Rocket attack in Sderot. (Photo: Hamutal Ben Shitrit/Sderot Media Center)

"Last week 20 rockets and mortar rounds were fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip. The Government's policy is clear: Any firing at our territory will be responded to strongly and immediately."

Both Netivot and Ashkelon were hit by Grad rockets in the recent rocket escalation. On New Years' eve, two Russian-made Grad artillery rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip and struck Israel, with one hitting the southern town of Netivot, a city of about 26,000.

The Color Red system did not go off at the time of attack, and Netivot residents had no warning of the incoming rocket attack. No damages were reported but one woman suffered shock.

The last Grad rocket to strike Netivot had exploded near a synagogue nine months ago, causing heavy damage to the building.

A week later, on Thursday, January 7, a Grad-type Katyusha rocket fired from the Gaza Strip struck a field south of Ashkelon, causing no damage or injuries. Air sirens, however, did sound, sending Ashkelon residents into panic.

Ashkelon, a coastal city with over 100,000 residents, has been a target of Palestinian-fired Katyusha rockets for nearly four years.

Since the start of 2010, tens of Iranian-supplied mortar rockets have also hit southern Israel. Terrorists also fired an anti-tank missile at IDF troops on the Gaza border.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) claimed responsibility for the recent firing of the rockets.

Hamas boasted on Friday Jan. 8, that it had managed to smuggle new types of weapons into the Gaza Strip. Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, published photographs on its website of the new weapons. The weapons include missiles with a double warhead, 107-mm caliber missiles that are designed to penetrate fortified structures and a new type of armor piercing RPG missile.

Abu Ubeida, the Hamas spokesman stated that the group "has thousands of fighters and good weapons capable of harming Israel."

Former OC Southern Command Maj.-Gen. Yom Tov Samia predicted on Sunday that another war with Hamas was inevitable.

"We are before another round in Gaza," Samia told Army Radio in an interview.

"I am very skeptical about the possibility that Hamas will suddenly surrender or change its ways without being hit much more seriously than it was during Cast Lead."
Will someone please explain the meaning of the word CEASE-FIRE to Hamas!  In a cease-fire both side stop shooting at each other.  If one side starts shooting again, then the cease-fire is over, battle begins anew.

Now for a little good news:
A new rocket-proof daycare center was inaugurated in the southern city of Sderot on December 27. The money for the furniture, equipment, and toys was donated by 13 year-old Thomas Cole of Toronto on the occasion of his Bar Mitzvah.

United Israel Appeal of Canada’s website reported that the dedication ceremony was attended by 35 members of Cole’s family, including his parents and grandparents, as well as by Sderot Mayor David Buskila, who unveiled a plaque of recognition and affixed the mezuzah together with Thomas.

The daycare center was built to withstand rocket attacks and contains three classrooms. It will serve approximately 45 infants ranging in age from three months to four years. The center will specifically serve the Reut community, a group of 150 young families who have made Sderot their home over the last decade.

Eran Shmueli-David, director of UIAC’s Israel Emergency Campaign, said that “this gift was implemented thanks to the tireless efforts of Eddy Azran, UIAC’s local coordinator in Sderot. It was his persistence and determination that pressed the municipality to open the new building as soon as construction was completed.”

Thomas Cole personally chose to dedicate the money to the Sderot Daycare Centre out of several options given to him by the B’nei Tzedek program of UJA Federation.

Read the full story here.
Young Thomas Cole of Toronto not only is on his way in life to becoming a man of good character, but has shown to the world the true meaning of becoming a man.  The unselfish giving unto others.  In Master Cole's case, his generosity will help many children to have a better life.

His parents MUST be busting at the seams with pride.

You can HELP too.  It isn't hard.  Just a few dollars can and does go a long way.  Just click here and follow the instructions.  Your donation to the Sderot Media Center will help the people of Sderot and the Western Negev.  People who have been under rocket attack for the last 9 years.
The Children of Sderot sent out messages of peace and hope.
The Children of Gaza send out rockets to destroy them.
Yet Hamas screams bloody murder whenever the Israelis strike back at them.

Not this time.

The time is coming when the people of Israel will have had enough.  When they will attack in retaliation, and not stop until Hamas is fully destroyed.  This next time nothing will be able to stop the IDF from achieving their directive.  Not the UN, not the EU, and definitely not Barack Hussein Obama.  Let Hamas and their anti-Semitic allies on the left cry all they want.  They will cry, scream, and throw a temper tantrum like they did last year.  But things are different now.  Europe is fed up with their antics.  The US isn't buying their lies.  And there will be elections this year.  Now Hamas will have to contend with that.

And the Children of Sderot truly might have a peaceful childhood.

Your Prayers Are Needed!

For the people of Haiti.

Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. This is surprising considering the natural beauty of the island of Hispaniola it shares with the Dominican Republic.  A series of dictators and 2 centuries of bad government brought this nation to this state of poverty.

Add to that the fact that the island of Hispaniola is directly in the path of Hurricanes entering the Caribbean Sea, yesterday's 7.0 Earthquake was rubbing salt into the wounds.

If you want to help you can donate via the American Red Cross here.  You can text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to American Red Cross relief for Haiti.

It is widely known through out the world that Americans are the most generous people in the world.  This disaster is in our own backyard, not thousands of miles away.  Open up your wallets for these our neighbors.

And keep them in your prayers, the authorities believe that the death toll will climb into the tens of thousands.

The Last Protector Has Gone.

She was the last of a group of Dutch citizens who tried to protect 8 Jews from the Nazis during World War 2.  Although they failed in their task, she did manage to preserve their memory.
Miep Gies, who ensured the diary of Anne Frank did not fall into the hands of Nazis after the teen's arrest, has died. She was 100.

Gies was among a team of Dutch citizens who hid the Frank family of four and four others in a secret annex in Amsterdam, Netherlands, during World War II, according to her official Web site, which announced her death Monday. She worked as a secretary for Anne Frank's father, Otto, in the front side of the same Prinsengracht building.

The family stayed in the secret room from July 1942 until August 4, 1944, when they were arrested by Gestapo and Dutch police after being betrayed by an informant. Two of Gies' team were arrested that day, but she and her friend, Bep Voskuijl, were left behind -- and found 14-year-old Anne's papers.

"And there Bep and I saw Anne's diary papers lying on the floor. I said, 'Pick them up!' Bep stood there staring, frozen. I said, 'Pick them up! Pick them up!' We were afraid, but we did out best to collect all the papers," Gies said in a 1998 interview with The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam.

"Then we went downstairs. And there we stood, Bep and I. I asked, 'What now, Bep?' She answered, 'You're the oldest. You hold on to them. So I did."

The girl had chronicled two years of the emotions and fears that gripped her during hiding, as well as candid thoughts on her family, her feelings for friend-in-hiding Peter van Pels, and dreams of being a professional writer. Mixed into the entries were the names of the Dutch helpers, who risked their lives to keep the family's secret.

"I didn't read Anne's diary papers. ... It's a good thing I didn't because if I had read them I would have had to burn them," she said in the 1998 interview. "Some of the information in them was dangerous."

The diary was sheltered in Gies' desk drawer and later turned over to Otto Frank when he returned after the war as the only surviving resident of the annex. Anne died at northern Germany's Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945.

Her father published her diary, titled "The Secret Annex," in 1947.

True heroes never will admit they have done anything out of the ordinary, anything heroic.  That is why we consider them heroes.  Men and women we look up to, we admire, we want our children to emulate.  Especially those like Miep Gies who risked their own lives to save others.

This Says It All!

RIP Art Clokey

Who was Art Clokey?  If you ever watched Gumby or Davey and Goliath then American Culture
you have watched his work.
Art Clokey, the creator of the greenish clay figure Gumby, died on Friday at his home in Los Osos, Calif. He was 88 years old. Clokey and his wife Ruth were trailblazers in stop motion clay animation.

Animation has made giant leaps forward in terms of special effects since the heyday of Gumby, a figure cut from clay and stiffened with wire. And this year was a particularly thrilling time for animation, with such movies as “Up,” “Ponyo,” “Coraline,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “The Princess and the Frog.”

However, Gumby and his horse companion Pokey remind us that the true power of animation rests not in computers or gadgetry–but in stories and character. Animation is the art of bringing something to life. Gumby had character. Like The Velveteen Rabbit, that’s what made him real. He was a protean figure–springing from clay, and with the ability to change shape, which made him a kind of a superhero, the ultimate toy, and maybe a symbol to kids still firming up the outlines of their own lives. And the fact that he literally fought against squares–the Blockheads–endeared him to children who would grow up to be adult Baby Boomers and Gen Xers.

Gumby was made various ways over the years; at one point Clokey said the eyes were made from ping pong balls and the pupils from black photo paper; later, he made them from white clay discs and red beads.

Read the full story here.
 For many of us Gumby, Pokie, Davie and Goliath were good stories that our parents approved us watching (what ever one's faith).

It is a shame that the message that a show like Davey and Goliath promoted should be rejected by today's Hollywood celebrities and ridiculed by them instead.

I Know That It Is Hard To Find...

...an unbiased jury pool, but this is ridicules!

I know that if this was my kitty, I would have placed her in her carrier, brought her papers and showed up for jury duty demanding that she gets her rights as a citizen.  Now that would be great for a laugh.  And speaking of laughs, how about this ditty I got in my e-mail:
Yesterday, I was at PetsMart buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet, Sugar the Wonder Dog. I was in the checkout line when the woman behind me asked if I had a dog.

What did she think I had, an elephant?
So, since I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her, 'No, I don't have a dog. I am starting the Purina Diet again.'

I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet, and that the way it works is to load your pockets with Purina nuggets. Then you simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well, and I was going to try it again.

I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.

Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me.

I told her, 'No, I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish Setter's ass and a car hit us both.'

I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack, he was laughing so hard. PetsMart won't let me shop there anymore.

Better watch what you ask retired people. They have all the time in the world to think of crazy things to say!
Have A Good Sabbath!

Suicide Bombers Strike!

Hat Tip to Army Rumors
Muslim suicide bombers in Britain are set to begin a three-day strike on Monday in a dispute over the number of virgins they are entitled to in the afterlife. Emergency talks with Al Qaeda management have so far failed to produce an agreement.

The unrest began last Tuesday when Al Qaeda announced that the number of virgins a suicide bomber would receive after his death will be cut by 25% next January from 72 to only 60. The rationale for the cut was the increase in recent years of the number of suicide bombings and a subsequent shortage of virgins in the afterlife.

The suicide bombers' union, the British Organisation of Occupational Martyrs (or B.O.O.M.) responded with a statement that this was unacceptable to its members and immediately balloted for strike action. General secretary Abdullah Amir told the press, "Our members are literally working themselves to death in the cause of jihad. We don't ask for much in return but to be treated like this by management is a kick in the teeth."

Mr Amir accepted the limited availability of virgins but pointed out that the cutbacks were expected to be borne entirely by the workforce and not by management. "Last Christmas Abu Hamza alone was awarded an annual bonus of 250,000 virgins," complains Amir. "And you can be sure they'll all be pretty ones too. How can Al Qaeda afford that for members of the management but not 72 for the people who do the real work?"

Speaking from the shed in the West Midlands where he currently resides, Al Qaeda chief executive Osama bin Laden explained,

"We sympathise with our workers' concerns but Al Qaeda is simply not in a position to meet their demands. They are simply not accepting the realities of modern-day jihad, in a competitive marketplace. Thanks to Western depravity, there is now a chronic shortage of virgins in the afterlife. It's a straight choice between reducing expenditure and laying people off. I don't like cutting wages but I'd hate to have to tell 3,000 of my staff that they won't be able to blow themselves up." He defended management bonuses by claiming these were necessary to attract good fanatical clerics. "How am I supposed to attract the best people if I can't compete with the private sector?" asked Mr. Bin-Laden.

Talks broke down this morning after management's last-ditch proposal of a virgin-sharing scheme was rejected outright after a failure to agree on orifice allocation quotas. One virgin, who refused to be named, was quoted as saying "I'll be buggered if I'm agreeing to anything like that........it's too much of a mouthful to swallow".

Unless some sort of agreement is reached over the weekend, suicide bombers will down explosives at midday on Monday. Most branches are supporting the strike. Only the North London branch, which has a different union, is likely to continue working. However, some members of that branch will only be using waist-down explosives in order to express solidarity with their striking brethren.

It had to happen one day.

Justice Is Served!

On June 10, 2009, shortly before 1 pm, James von Brunn entered the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC and proceeded to open fire upon the patrons inside.  Stephen Tyrone Johns, a humble security guard with a heart of gold, was killed trying to subdue von Brunn.  (A scholarship fund has been set up for his children.  You can contribute to it here.)

It has been nearly 7 months and von Brunn has not been brought to trial.  And he never will be.
At Butner federal prison in North Carolina, spokeswoman Denise Simmons announced that James von Brunn died shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Simmons said von Brunn had "a long history of poor health which included chronic congestive heart failure and sepsis." She said he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Von Brunn's lawyer, A.J. Kramer, called the death "a sad end to a tragic situation," but declined further comment.

Von Brunn had been awaiting trial for the killing of security guard Stephen T. Johns at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum on June 10. Von Brunn had been wounded by return fire.

Read the full story here.
Now some people would question the assumption that Justice has been served for Stephen Johns, but I contend that von Brunn is now in front of the highest court in the Universe, before the greatest Judge that could ever be, and HIS judgement on von Brunn will be swift.  There will be NO APPEAL from this court.

There is one being who is dancing for joy over this.

He is eagerly awaiting his disciple!

Wednesday's Hero: Carlos Gil Orozco

Cpl. Carlos E. Gil Orozco
23 years old from San Jose, California
2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force
September 10, 2007

Carlos Gil Orozco wasn’t a great student, but one goal pushed him to hit the books: becoming a Marine.

"He was kind of a troublemaker, you know, he got bad grades and wouldn't do his homework," said his sister, Myriam Johanna Gil Orozco. "But he wanted to be a Marine. So he studied real hard, especially algebra. He'd stay up all night studying.

Cpl. Orozco's parents moved the family from Colombia to the U.S. when he was 8 years old, hoping to give their children a better education. They became frustrated when their son didn't do well in school and thought the Marines would be good for him.

"My dad was actually happy," Myriam said. "He'd rather have him be a Marine than out on the streets being in gangs or doing drugs."

Cpl. Carlos Orozco was killed while conducting combat operations in Ashraf, Iraq when the tank he was riding in encountered an IED. Also killed in the blast was Lance Cpl. Jon T. Hicks Jr. of Atco, New Jersey.

Cpl. Orozco leaves behind his sister, his parents, his wife and two sons.

Canceled!

Yes the 2009 Weblog Awards have been canceled.  This is the announement from their website:
It is with a great deal of regret that I must inform everyone that The 2009 Weblog Awards are canceled.

Unfortunately the resources required to handle the load of voting (nearly 1,000,000 votes in 2008) could not be adequately provisioned. Even if the servers and bandwidth required appeared today it would be at least a few weeks before everything could be ready for voting.

This has always been a very, very labor intensive process, and in recent years with our success a very expensive competition to run. It's hard to have unlimited resources provisioned for seven days of voting. In the past we've had to provision expensive servers for several months to prepare for the crush of voting.

We really tried to solve the resource problems with new ideas (such as cloud computing) this year, but ultimately we were not able to make things work to our satisfaction. I'm very proud of the voting platform we built for The Weblog Awards over the years, and the quality voting experience we've been able to deliver. The one thing I will not do is compromise that voting experience.

Rather than run a competition that had a high possibility of technically failing, the more prudent choice seemed to be regroup and consider our alternatives for hosting these awards going forward.

Thank you to those who have supported The Weblog Awards over the years, we appreciate your support, and our sorry we couldn't make things work this year.
Will there be a 2010 Weblog Award?  Who knows.  But I would like to thank all of my readers who nominated Monkey in the Middle (Best Up and Coming Blog {Authority between 51 and 100}).  I do believe this old playground could have won.

Maybe next year.  There is always next year!

How Israeli Security Works

Hat tip to Israel Matzav

Every one knows that the Israeli National Airline, El Al (Hebrew for To The Skies) has had a perfect security record for the last 30 years.  With a combination of psychology, racial profiling, and armed guards on every flight,  passengers who board an El Al flight can travel without any fear of violence aboard their flight.  No passenger boarding an El Al flight at Ben Gurion Airport has to remove their shoes or belt, liquids are permitted, as is toothpaste, and hand lotion.

On flights into Israel one can use the bathroom until the pilot prepares to land, or read a book, work on your lap top, snuggle under a blanket, or even put some thing in your carry on bag.  How refreshing to see an airline being proactive not reactive.

In the US most security personal are not hired because they actually have experience in security.  They get hired because they have a good credit score.  Forget about a background check.  Murderers, Rapists, Thieves, Pedophiles, Wife Beaters have all been found to be working as airport security personal.  Many without a High School Diploma, let alone a College Degree in Psychology, many cannot speak English, and most have no military experience. So much for protecting the traveling public.  (Israel only hires people who have a very good knowledge of Psychology, who have a clean criminal record, speak at least 2 languages fluently, and have served in the military {preferable an elite unit}.)

Why is it that the US cannot deliver to the flying public 1 ounce of the security that Israel does?  Why is it that the statistics show that since 1965 90% of airline hijackers were Muslim men between the ages of 18 and 50, we still do not play to the percentages and PROFILE those individuals.  Instead we cower to to the voices of Political Correctness.  It is Political Correctness that will bring down an airplane, not the Muslim terrorist who actually does the deed.

Almost 3,000 people died on 9/11 due to Political Correctness.  How many more have to die before we wise up to the reality of Islamic Terrorism?

A Message from a Spaniard to the U.S.: Get Acquainted with Muslim Demographics

by Maggie at Maggie's Notebook

I recently posted on the Nigerian would-be bomber aboard Northwest Flight 253. In reply to that post was a comment here at  Radarsite on my cross-post. John Doebert is a Spaniard living in Spain and he has a message for America. We will do well to listen. Fitting perfectly with Mr. Doebert's comment is an important video on how Islam will defeat us all. See the video below.

Here is Doebert's first comment and a second follows:

I'm a spaniard who lives in Spain, Europe. Nevertheless, I feel and always felt very close to the US country, regardless of federal government or this or that particular policy.

For those not familiar with the local boundaries, let me tell you that Islam is right at our door, and that the whole Europe is infiltrated from within by the hundred of thousands muslims who, purportedly, want to live here and be like us, and really, want to destroy us.

And as they cannot do it openly by waging war against us, they have elected a much more subtle way: their women's wombs, changing our demography and gaining momentum by the sheer force of bigger population.

Using our legal systems, exploiting loopholes and shortcuts, they are being entitled with civil rights, right to vote, right to social money. That's right: we are paying the very same people who want to change our countries into a third world nasty cesspit. Now, Europe is lost. That much I'm afraid of.

A continent of cowards, losers, laidback old folks, without the guts to stand up and fight for its future against the islamic invasion. But you, USA, you got a future. You are the best experiment in mankind's history. A country founded from the scratch, no more than 250 years ago, with all your problems, you are still every person's hope.

So please wake up. OK, you've already have elected your official moron; but make it only one. In Spain, we have elected ours as well, but we have reoffended; we elected him for a second term, so he can betray us properly and put the final stake through our country's heart, everything in the name of tolerance and political correctness.

Please close your border to anyone not qualyfing in english language, non islamic faith and not capable of making a living on his or her own. You are being invaded in every possible way. You are the first and last hope of western civilization, and as such, you are in the greatest of dangers. Would you give your house's keys to the person who's gonna rat you?. Stand up and defend yourselves, great evil is coming, and is already here in Europe, specially in Spain and the like.
John Doebert's second comment after I asked for permission to post his message:
Regarding your idea of posting my comment in some other place, it's OK for me. I feel very grateful for your kindness. After all, I'm just a foreigner and some local in US could get upset about my speaking.

One final thought: I'm no average spaniard, make no mistake. People here are looking the other way, some trying to live their lives, some posturing as if anything happens, struggling to get food to the table, as economic situation is in shambles and worsening.

One cannot expect a high degree of awareness regarding any other thing than the basics when there's no job, no income, no future. I'm fortunate to have a job and to be able to invest some time in getting acquainted with national and international situation in most scenarios.

And islamic invasion is my main concern, as they are like termites. I think it was two years ago when a Palestinian mother showed in TV yelling and shouting that she was so proud that his son had blown himself up killing infidels. I was shocked to read an Israeli journalist commenting on the bomb blasts something like “as long as their hate for us is bigger than their love for their love ones, there's no solution". There you go: they treat themselves like they were all a mere walking canister for their bombs.

They want to be like us, and as they cannot (their Islamic system forbids it), they chose to destroy us.
BTW, very good job in the blog, keep it up; I’ve reading it for months.
Many of us see the threat and understand it, but are powerless to effectively fight it. Which reminds me of this important video. I'll hope you will take a minute to watch it - listen carefully, and then get busy propagating! Sadly, it isn't a joke.

Mayo Clinic Arizona Drops Medicare! Happy New Year Seniors!

by Maggie at Maggie’s Notebook

Happy New Year Seniors! A little prezzy from the Prez: Medicare patients have been kicked out of the Mayo Clinic’s Glendale, Arizona facility. It’s a happy, happy day for the Obamas. They are soon to hold your health care in their sweaty, greedy, grabby hands and they can't wait.

“No Medicare patients” beginning today, at the Mayo Glendale facility (a suburb of Phoenix). This is a two-year-trial-run. About 3,200 patients are affected. Needless to say, the Glendale area is rife with retirees:
Obama in June cited the nonprofit Rochester, Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio for offering “the highest quality care at costs well below the national norm.” Mayo’s move to drop Medicare patients may be copied by family doctors, some of whom have stopped accepting new patients from the program, said Lori Heim, president of the American Academy of Family Physicians, in a telephone interview yesterday….
Mayo’s hospital and four clinics in Arizona, including the Glendale facility, lost $120 million on Medicare patients last year, Yardley said. The program’s payments cover about 50 percent of the cost of treating elderly primary-care patients at the Glendale clinic, he said.
If you are now on Medicare, but want to continue to be treated at Mayo-Glendale, here is what they have planned for you:
A Medicare patient who chooses to stay at Mayo’s Glendale clinic will pay about $1,500 a year for an annual physical and three other doctor visits, according to an October letter from the facility. Each patient also will be assessed a $250 annual administrative fee, according to the letter. Medicare patients at the Glendale clinic won’t be allowed to switch to a primary care doctor at another Mayo facility.
A few hundred of the clinic’s Medicare patients have decided to pay cash to continue seeing their primary care doctors, Yardley said. Mayo is helping other patients find new physicians who will accept Medicare.
Mayo’s decision may herald similar moves by other Phoenix- area doctors …“We’ve got doctors who are saying we are not going to deal with Medicare patients in the hospital” because they consider the fees too low, Rivers said. “Or they are saying we are not going to take new ones in our practice.
DoctorRX at Naked Capitalism says the following about Medicare patients paying cash and receiving treatment (referring to the same article I have quoted above):
Despite what the article says, It’s not easy under the regs to just charge cash. So I’m not sure what Mayo is referring to. Basically a physician has to drop out of being a Medicare provider in toto in order to then charge freely. Once out, I think you’re out for a whole year (at least). And that includes seeing a patient in hospital who’s a Medicare patient (Medicare “A” covers essentially all Medicare patients). So for a whole year the doctor has to only treat outpatients and have nothing to do with Medicare. Not easy. Especially if Glendale has an elderly population.
Obama’s health care plan is not yet law, but he has his ball rollin’ anyway.

Kill the Protesters!

That is the cry from Ayatollah Mehyaddin Haeri Shirazi on Iran Television recently in a live interview.  (View it here.)
In a live interview broadcast on the Islamic Republic's national television station sometime within the last two weeks, Ayatollah Mehyaddin Haeri Shirazi described a Communist protest movement from the early years of the Islamic Republic, noting how it was effectively crushed by the authorities. The government targeted opposition activists, he said, "arrested them in the afternoon and the same night announced the names of 30 people killed or executed by the government forces."

In reaction to the arrests and killings, Shirazi continued, "nothing happened. Why? Because they killed them."

Expanding on what he sees as the lesson from those events, the ayatollah said,"The more of them [the opposition] are killed, the more beneficial [to the people]. If the armed forces kill some of them, it is to our benefit."

On the other hand, Shirazi continued, "When they are arrested, it is bad [for public opinion], when they are captured [it is bad for public opinion]. Do not make victims out of them."

Killing the opposition protesters, the ayatollah insists, "is sanctioned by obedience to Allah and the prophet and is handed down to the Supreme Leader [Ayatollah Khamenei]. When it is sanctioned by such a power, there is no need to go through the government powers."

Shirazi warned the opposition forces, "Do not look upon the Supreme Leader [simply] as a person with a soft turban on his head, and that you can beat him. His support comes from the Hidden Imam Mahdi, he [Khamenei] is made of iron. It will come back down to break your own heads."

Perhaps in reaction to the increasing levels of violence by government forces, on December 26 a previously unknown anti-regime group calling itself the National Iranian Armed Resistance Forces (NIRU) "declare our readiness to rise to the armed defense of our nation against the forces of the criminal, illegitimate, transgressing and occupying current Government of Iran...." The group "accuses the current government and the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Mr. Sayyed Ali Khamenei of legal transgressions and high treason of nation and homeland."

NIRU claims to be made up of "a number of officers, soldiers and personnel of the armed forces", calling for "support" and "cover... in this moral and nationalist act" from "our brothers and sisters serving with the armed security forces of Iran...."

Iranian pro-democracy activists in contact with Israel National News said they are hesitant to believe in the authenticity of the organization until there is some external evidence of its activities beyond email and Web postings.

The first of two NIRU communiques, headed with praise for the Islamic god Allah, explained: "In accordance with the regulations of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, we are commissioned to protect the lives, properties and honor of our nation, and defend our sacred soil, as well as combat all occupying forces within the borders of the land. Any failure in carrying out this duty is considered a betrayal of nation and oath. According to the constitution, the defense of the rights of the nation of Iran, and avoidance of the collapse of the country takes precedence over protection of the ruling regime."

The group announced "the initiation of Operation Azadi ('Freedom')," which they said will end upon "unconditional surrender of the occupying government and leadership." The operation, the NIRU communique said, will involve taking control of military bases, taking over government buildings, arrest of "government-supporting agents within your units", "seizing... military and public communication facilities, as well as other news media", "combat mission[s] at the regional level, and expanding", and more.

Ayatollah Mehyaddin Haeri Shirazi has a wonderful nickname in Iran:  Land Thief.  For he has stolen thousands of acres of land in Shiraz and became a billionaire doing it.  So he is scared of what will happen to him if Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs are overthrown.

If the National Iranian Armed Resistance Forces (NIAR) is an actual group of resistane and not a front group set up by the Iranian government to destroy the Green Revolution, then it brings a whole new dynami to the Iranian equation.  For then the world will have an Iran in a very bloody civil war. Waged on one side by the Mullahs and the Revolutionary Guard, on the other side by the Protesters and the regular army.

The side that is victorious in this will become stronger than ever, the losers will be executed.  Thus is the way with despots.

Now is the time for the leaders of the Free World to speak up and be heard.  To speak words of encouragement to the people of Iran longing for Freedom, Justice and Liberty.  For the people of Iran who wish to throw off the tyrant who has destroyed their nation (physically and spiritually).  And still, President Obama says nothing.  His silence on this is deafening.

This is not the time to be silent Mr. President.  It is the time for you to stand up and speak to the people of Iran.  Not the Mullahs or Ahmadinejad.  The people who are fighting for the Freedom and Liberty that you take for granted.

The Iranin government has rejected your hand of friendship.  Now is the time for you to end your vacation, and become the Leader of the Free World.  If you fail on this, and the people of Iran are resubjegated into the slavery and despair that they have lived under these last 30 years, the verdict of history will be damning of you.  Your legacy will be one of incompetence and stupidity.  You will have shown the world that you are nothing more than a 2-bit street hustler who made it big!

Corals Devouring Jellyfish?

That is what the picture (above) is showing.  While not Earth-shattering, it does give us a better understanding of the world we live in.
Photographs taken by Israeli researchers have shaken up long-held beliefs regarding the diet of corals. Scientists have long thought that corals subsist solely from single cell algae (Zooxanthella) and tiny plankton sized 0.2 to 0.4 mm. However, photographs taken in Eilat in March 2009 show that corals are capable of devouring much larger food.

Omri Bronstein of the George S. Wise Faculty of Life Sciences in Tel Aviv University explained that the discovery was made in the course of a thorough survey of Fungia corals in the Gulf of Eilat, as part of a long term study of the corals' sexual plasticity, several corals of the type Fungia scruposa were seen and documented as they feasted on medusae of the type Aurelia aurita.

While it is known that many species eat medusae, including fish, sea turtles and birds, corals have never been documented consuming prey if this size.

Fungia, or plate corals, are usually found at depths from one meter to 100 meters. Some can measure dozens of centimeters in diameter as adults. The corals have been found to exhibit sexual plasticity: a coral that began its life as a female can change into a male in another season and back into a female in following seasons.

"These corals' amazing plasticity, both in the ability to change their gender and in their ability to feed off of food which they chance upon like the medusae, give them an advantage in dealing with the changing environment they live in,” Bronstein said.

The photographs have aroused great scientific interest and have been featured, among other places, in National Geographic and Scientific American magazines, as well as the BBC, Discovery channel and hundreds of news websites. The pictures were taken opposite the Inter-University Institute and the Underwater Observatory in Eilat.

Just look at them.  They look so peaceful, so lovely, so angelic.  Who would have known they are just cold-blooded jellyfish killers.  Who would have guessed?  Not me?

Just look at the poor Jellyfish.  Defenseless, homeless (Their homes were stolen from them by the agressive Zionist Corals.), without hope.  They have been made refugees for generations by the apartheid policies of the Corals.

Who will save the Jellyfish?
