On the one hand, we have a president determined to run this country into the ground so he and his Democratic successors can rebuild it in their Utopian fashion. On the other hand, we have John Kerry, one of the biggest fools ever to serve as secretary of state. Together, they are working to join the EU in committing national suicide by flooding our respective societies with more and more Muslims. University of California Regents Conference

This week I attended parts of two days at the University of California Regents meeting held at UC Irvine. My main purpose in going was to participate in the public comments forum (Sept. 17) when the main issue of discussion was intolerance on campus. There had been a move to have the university implement the State Department's definition of anti-Semitism. Pro-Palestinian groups were in opposition. If I am not mistaken, the proposal was initially made  by UC President Janet Napolitano. In response, the UC provost and vice provost wrote up a proposed statement of principles on intolerance, which was very general and did not specifically mention anti-Semitism. The pro-Palestinan forces support this draft and those (like me) who are complaining about campus anti-Semitism are opposed to it.

I also attended yesterday (Sept. 16) when the topic of discussion was a proposed union contract with the university that concerned different university workers including physicians, interns, nurses and others. The reason I attended was not because I was interested in the issue, rather because I wanted to get a feel for how the meeting proceeded. I noted that during the public comment portion, Napolitano paid attention to the speakers (who were limited to one minute). Today, she was distracted about half the time and seemed not to be paying attention to some of the speakers.

Today, I was the first speaker on the list. (Again, we had one minute to speak.) I read from a prepared paper (which was a mistake because about half way through my hands began to shake holding the paper. That's old age for you.) Here is the text of what I said:

 "My name is Gary Fouse,  I am an adjunct teacher in the UC Irvine Extension. I am also the co-author of a  letter to  President Napolitano signed by over 100 UC faculty expressing alarm at campus anti-Semitism, asking that the university confront this problem and adopt the State Department’s definition of anti-Semitism.

 The Israel-Palestinian debate has led to an atmosphere where many Jewish students who support Israel are often spending their college years in a climate of intimidation- not just from pro-Palestinian students, but in many cases from professors in the classroom.

The problem is not neo-Nazis or skin heads; rather it is the  pro-Palestinian lobby such as the Students for Justice in Palestine, BDS promoters, and their faculty allies. Every year, these groups invite speakers to campus, some of whom  cross the line from legitimate criticism of Israel to  attacking Jews as people. Over the years here I have seen and heard it first hand right here on this campus.

I thought that the regents were going to consider adopting the State Department definition of anti-Semitism. Are you instead going to pass some vague resolution opposing intolerance in general?  That would be useless.

 I ask you as a concerned Gentile to treat anti-Semitism with the same seriousness as you treat intolerance against other groups."

There were about 50 people listed to speak, some of whom didn't show up. I would say over half of the speakers were from the Jewish side. Tammi Rossman-Benjamin of the AMCHA Initiative spoke as well as several Jewish students including the president of Anteaters for Israel. I noted that one speaker from the other side was from the National Lawyers Guild in Los Angeles. A couple were from Jewish Voice for Peace including former B actress Estee Chandler (Don't ask me what movies she was in. I had never heard of her.) . Later, while the regents were discussing some inane topic, I was whispering with my friend and she turned around to give us the "shhhh" I told her to shut up. She did it with other people as well.

But I digress.

After the comments from the audience, there were a couple of other issues discussed, one of which was sexual assault. I will deal with that in a separate posting. As for the issue we were all there for, there was a presentation by UC Provost Aimee Dorr and Vice Provost for Diversity and Engagement Yvette Gullatt, who were responsible for drafting the proposed statement of principles. Dorr said they had decided not to identify specific victim groups out of concern over inclusion. (I am paraphrasing.) Gullatt explained that the statement defined intolerance. Their comments were quite forgettable.

What was interesting were the comments by the regents who weighed in after the public comments. Most of them who spoke made it very clear that they felt the draft essentially said nothing and that there was a responsibility to specifically address the issue of anti-Semitism since it was the Jewish students and community who brought the issue forth. Here are some notes as to the regents who weighed in. ( I am paraphrasing.)

Norman Pattiz said that when he read the statement, he asked himself, "What is this? It doesn't say anything." He added that it was necessary to recognize those who brought this (issue) up. He said it was insulting to disregard them and that it was a disservice to them because it was they who brought the issue to their attention.

Bruce Varner said that the statement did not deal with the specific issues.

Bonnie Reiss said that while free speech was important, it was equally important to protect the students. She referred to the reported anti-Jewish incidents and said, "We hear you. We need to tell you we hear you." She added that  the statement did not do that.  Finally, she stated that the  political debate (Israeli-Palestinian)  had led to acts of hate against one group-the Jews.

Next was a student regent, Abraham Oved, a Jew. He opened by referring to the "flawed language". He noted that he had tried to consult with the authors of the statement but was rebuffed. He did not support the statement. It did not do justice to those victimized and he referred to those who ask why the UC campus climate is the way it is. Oved was very eloquent.

Next was the speaker of the California Assembly Toni Atkins. She opened by saying that both the assembly and the senate had asked (the university) to do more. She said that they could do better, hit the right points, and find the right balance.

John Perez, a former assembly speaker, said that the statement basically said nothing, and that he feared a whitewash which would't even mention anti-Semitism. He also added that when he was in the assembly, he met with many student groups (by ethnicity). He said that the only time he was met with resistance from the university was when he asked to meet with Jewish students. He was told he would have to meet the Jewish students together with other groups. He added, however that he did not support the State Department definition being applied to the university.

Deputy Regent Marcela Ramirez essentially said nothing of substance, just the usual politically-correct buzz words. She listed three important points for her-free speech, bigotry and education.

Richard Blum (husband of Senator Dianne Feinstein) said that if they didn't get this right, he was going to get complaints from his wife and added that punishment should be addressed. That was it.

Hadi Makarechian said he agreed with Blum as to punishment. That was it.

Janet Napolitano finished by basically saying nothing . She mentioned diversity and the need "to get it right." She said that not all would agree with the final product. She took no stand.

After all that, it was announced that "this was the beginning of a process", a consultative process to be performed by a working group of students, faculty, chancellors and stakeholders. It will be led by Regent Eddie Island.

That was it. The regents continued on with other business as  most of the audience left, some like me, to be interviewed by the news media. In my case, I was interviewed by the Orange County Register. I would also like to note that as I was leaving the room, the aforementioned speech monitor Estee Chandler was still sitting in the front row-and talking with a couple of her pals.

What does it all mean?

It appears that our efforts might produce some results, but it is too early to tell. I was quite encouraged by the comments of most of the regents who spoke on the issue. Whether the final statement will adopt the State Department's definition of anti-Semitism, I don't know. I suspect that it will contain some reference to anti-Semitism. My fear is that it will simply be a listing of all the -isms including anti-Semitism. That is not enough. Anti-Semitism on UC campuses dwarfs any other form of bias. It is the most serious, and it must be specifically addressed. I should also note that no representative from any other minority group spoke to express grievances.

And what a dressing down for the provost and vice provost. In my view, they deserved it. Their statement is a joke. The University of California is chock full of policy statements expressing opposition to all forms of bias. They have diversity and inclusion officials on every campus. What would this proposed statement add?

And what happened to Napolitano? She initially proposed adopting the State Department definition. Has she changed her mind? If so, why? We will have to wait and see on that.

Hatem Bazian's Latest "ISIS Is Not Islamic" Piece

Hatem Bazian is a professor at UC Berkeley. When he is not agitating and making public speeches against Israel, he is complaining about Islamophobia. That means that part of his job description entails convincing the rest of us that the atrocities being committed by ISIS  have nothing to do with Islam. That leads him to write this latest piece for Lamp Post Productions, a site for American Muslim scholars and activists.

In this piece, Bazian condemns ISIS for their acts especially focusing on their practice of using sexual slavery of Yazidis and others. he criticizes their use of Islamic texts to justify their crimes. At the end, he goes into his predictable references of Western slavery, the invasion of Iraq, the of companies and yes,- those neo-cons like Paul Wolfowitz and Richard Pearle.

First of all, to the casual reader you might want to applaud Bazian for his strong condemnation of ISIS and their horrible acts. Yet, I note that only late in the article does he even mention the Qu'ran, preferring the term "classical sources". I would take that to mean the Ku'ran, the hadith and the sunnah. He also uses the term "Prophetic tradition", which I would take to mean the hadith and sunnah. Nowhere does he use the name Mohammad. Is he trying to avoid the reader thinking about what Mohammad would say or do about such practices? He does admit that the Qu'ran neither explicitly condones or condemns slavery, but conveniently omits those references to "those that your right hand possess", references to a Muslim man having sex with captive/slave women.

Another point that Bazian omits is that Mohammad is considered the ideal man by Muslims. Whatever Mohammad did is the ideal to strive for. The Qu'ran is the word of Allah according to Muslims, transmitted to Mohammad the Messenger through the angel Gabriel (Jibril). And those references to the 55 Islamic countries that outlaw slavery? What Bazian forgets to mention are the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and Northern Sudan, which both still practice slavery-the only two countries in the world to do so. Thus, the following quote from the article is not completely true.

"The sources from the past are still available, with extensive records of cases pertaining to slavery, but the first question that must be asked is, what is the present-day ruling on slavery in the Muslim world? Slavery is prohibited, and only ISIS and its followers are calling for it to be brought back." 

And if Bazian thinks that only ISIS is engaging in rape and atrocities against non-Muslims, he might want to speak to non-Muslims in Egypt, Pakistan, Libya, Iran and many other Islamic countries where non-Muslim minorities are being persecuted-not to the extent of the Islamic State, but persecuted nonetheless. The plain fact is that in the Middle East as a whole, there is a systematic program of genocide against Christians in progress, which seems to have eluded Bazian's notice.

But to Bazian, in the end, it is always the fault of the West and the US in particular that the Islamic world is in flames. To be fair, it is not unreasonable to argue a causal connection between our overthrow of Saddam Hussein and ISIS. But what would have happened had the Iraqis themselves overthrown Saddam?  The Libyans (albeit with Western help) overthrew Qaddafi, and look at the result there. What will follow in Syria if and when Assad falls? If ISIS prevails, will that be solely the fault of the West? 

And as to those references to Wolfowitz, Pearle and the "neo-cons', Bazian knows full well this is code language for-you guessed it- the Jews.  As the Nazis used to say, "der ewige Jude"-the eternal Jew.  Of course this is the same man who reportedly told a college audience a few years ago they should count the Jewish names on the campus buildings. This is the same man who once called for an intifada in the US.

Nobody wants to hold all Muslims accountable for ISIS. Yet we cannot ignore what is happening to Christians, Yazidis, Shia and others who are being butchered like cattle in the Middle East in the very name of Islam. We have every right to discuss this phenomenon and the origins of Islam to figure out why this is happening and why we are all at risk. It is not enough to condemn the savagery of ISIS. Bazian tells us not to blame Islam. Then who are we to blame as more and more Western Muslims answer the call to join this evil movement called ISIS? If you read the "classical texts" and the "Prophetic tradition", you just might conclude that ISIS is following the pure Islam as Mohammad saw it the day he died.

Bazian concedes that Muslims throughout history have practiced slavery and rape,( as have followers of other religions). Yet he contends that their rationalizations for these actions based on religious texts are erroneous. Unfortunately, ISIS can point to specific verses and sayings in the Qu'ran, hadith and sunnah that provide their "justifications" . But in a broader sense, can we not agree that when an ideology demonizes and de-humanizes groups of people (as the Qu'ran, hadith and sunnah do with non-Muslims) then murder and other violations of human rights are only a step away?

Are the Walls Closing in on Hillary Clinton?

It appears that Hillary Clinton may have violated multiple laws during her tenure as secretary of state in relation to her handling of emails.

If we are to believe her protestations that she never sent or received classified material, marked or not, on her private server(s)-which she used exclusively instead of the State Department server- then we are to believe that Clinton was a mere figurehead as secretary of state, occupying a ceremonial position, if you will.

In addition, if everything is present and accounted for, where are the emails pertaining to Benghazi, before during and after the attack? Where are the emails pertaining to countries and private companies seeking favorable decisions from the State Department as they were contributing to the Clinton Foundation and hiring Bill Clinton to give speeches worth hundreds of thousands of dollars?

I am putting my trust in FBI Director James Comey to direct his agents to do a thorough and complete investigation. If they determine that serious laws were breached pertaining to our national security and that Hillary Clinton and her aides engaged in obstruction of justice as well by trying to cover it all up, they will need to get Justice Department approval (the attorney general herself) to bring charges. I would also anticipate that the attorney general will have a sit-down with President Obama before giving such authorization.

It will come down to a question of whether everyone is truly equal in the eyes of the law.

What is news to me is his links to Ali Abunimah of the Electric Intifada web site.  What I find really disturbing is that Obama would have connections to this man and his vile website, which is a hotbed of of anti-Israel propaganda.

Make no mistake. Barack Obama's entire life is marked by an anti-West point of view.  He has been, as Abunimah himself states, "pro-Israel" for political convenience sake. In recent years, that mask has pretty much fallen off. By his actions as President, Obama is not only anti-Israel, but anti-US as well.

Yet another success story involving Somali refugees who our government has brought here since the 1990s as part of their refugee resettlement program. Three Somalis in Portland, Maine, refugees all, are charged with murder.

Anti-Semitism on Campus: Who Is Responsible?

Answer: The Pro-Palestinian Crowd



The world is waking up to a phenomenon that is undeniable. There is a worldwide resurgence in anti-Semitism. In Europe, the problem is played out on city streets, where Jews walk around in Jewish garb at their own risk. Is Europe plagued by a growth in Neo-Nazis sporting swastikas? Not really. The perpetrators of the crimes against Jews, which have included murder in places like France and Belgium, are mostly Muslim immigrants acting out old hatreds.

In the US, the focal point for the rise in anti-Semitism is on our university campuses. From the University of California to the Ivy League, more and more Jewish students are telling stories of being harassed, insulted, and made to feel uncomfortable and unsafe on campus. Swastikas have appeared on bathroom stalls and the walls of campus buildings. I pose a similar question: Do we have neo-Nazis walking around our campuses sporting swastikas and quoting Adolf Hitler? Hardly. The answer is largely (but not exactly) the same as in Europe.

There are two organizations we begin with in order to get at the answer to the question of who is responsible for campus anti-Semitism in the US. Those two organizations are Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and the Muslim Students Association (MSA), the latter of which is a creation of the Muslim Brotherhood. The former organization, founded by a Palestinian who just happens to be a UC Berkeley professor named Hatem Bazian, is a mirror reflection of the MSA chapters. They have many of the same members plus some non-Muslims who share their hatred of Israel. At UC Irvine, an SJP chapter was conveniently established in the wake of the suspension of the Muslim Student Union (for one quarter) after they disrupted a speech by Israeli ambassador to the US, Michael Oren, in 2010.

It is the above two organizations who are fomenting anti-Israel agitation on college campuses across the country. They are aided and abetted by the radical speakers they invite to speak on campus against Israel. These include figures like Amir Abdel Malik Ali, Omar Barghouti, Mohammed al Asi, the aforementioned Hatem Bazian, and fellow travelers like Norman Finkelstein. Many of these speakers are Muslims, but many are not. In fact, some are Jews who hate Israel and do everything they can to hurt the Jewish state and bring about its end.

Which leads me to the question of whether being anti-Israel is being anti-Semitic especially given the fact that some activists are Jews themselves. Certainly not in every case do anti-Israeli word and deed mean anti-Semitism. However, I maintain that much of it is driven by anti-Semitism. When, in 2001 at UC Irvine, Mohammed al Asi, a radical Washington-based imam and supporter of the Iranian regime, said, "You can take the Jew out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the Jew," that was anti-Semitic. When Amir Abdel Malik Ali said at UC Irvine in 2006 that Rupert Murdoch was  a "straight up Zionist Jew", spitting the words out just like the Nazis in Germany used to, that was anti-Semitic. (He has accused many people of being Zionist Jews in the same tone.) In 2010, again at UC Irvine, he told the Jews in the audience that they were "the new Nazis". That was anti-Semitic. When the Muslim Student Union at UC Irvine put a caricature of Ariel Sharon on their mock Apartheid Wall in 2008, drawn in the style of the old Nazi anti-Jewish weekly, Der Stuermer, that was anti-Semitic.




When Rachel Beyda, a Jewish student at UCLA who was campaigning for a position on the student government earlier this year, was grilled as to whether her Jewishness might affect her objectivity on important campus issues (like the Israel-Palestinian question?), that was anti-Semitic. These are not isolated incidents. Ask Molly Horwitz of Stanford. This year, when she was campaigning for student government, she was asked, "Given your Jewish background, how would you vote on divestment?" (against Israel).

In addition to vitriolic speakers, the pro-Palestinian students are aided and abetted by a legion of professors around the country who also share a hatred of Israel. Many of these professors can be found in Middle East studies departments, which are invariably hotbeds of anti-Israel belief as well as anti-Western belief. In addition, there are professors in other departments who lend their voices to the anti-Israel rant on campus. Again, not all are Muslims, and some are misfit Jews. Who are they? I could stay here at the keyboard for a month listing all the names. Our universities are infested with them.

In 2013, there were two ugly incidents at San Francisco State University in which pro-Palestinian students created images advocating the murder of Israeli soldiers. In one, posters were created that read, "My heroes have always killed colonizers". In the other, the President of the General Union of Palestinian Students, a character named  Mohammad G Hammad, created video images of himself with a knife and fantasizing about murdering Israeli soldiers. A few months ago, these students' mentor at SF State, Professor Rabab Abdulhadi, an anti-Israel activist, was supposed to speak at UC Irvine. I showed up with my video camera prepared to ask her some pointed questions about these students. At the last minute, she didn't show and the Muslim Student Union attempted unsuccessfully to stop me from videotaping. (In the end, there was nothing to videotape anyway.)

Then there was a situation at UC Berkeley in 2010 when swastikas started appearing on campus and a group of Jewish students held a peaceful protest on campus-only to be heckled by a professor who then proceeded to give them the finger. The incident was captured on camera and videotape.

Speaking of professors, one of the most recent and notorious examples is Steven Salaita, formerly of Virginia Tech. He was in the process of accepting a position at the University of Illinois last year when certain social media messages from Salaita came to light. In particular, after three Israeli teenagers were abducted in the West Bank (They were later found murdered.) Salaita stated that he wished "all settlers would go missing".  The University of Illinois decided he was not a fit person to teach at their school and rescinded its offer of employment. He is now teaching at the American University of Lebanon.

As to the question of anti-Israel/anti-Semitism, the State Department has a definition that lists several points relative to Israel. They consider it anti-Semitic to deny the Jewish people a homeland free from persecution. Their definition also includes holding Israel to a different standard than its neighbors, virtually all human rights abusers. It also includes equating Israel with Nazis and the Apartheid regime in South Africa. All of those points can be readily found in campus discourse across the nation. The much ballyhooed BDS Movement (Boycot, Divest and Sanctions) against Israel is a thinly-disguised movement begun by Palestinians to discredit and ultimately destroy the Jewish state. It has taken root on college campuses across the nation where student governments waste precious time and energy devoted to an issue that has no impact on campus life.

To reiterate, that discourse is not held by people quoting Mein Kampf and wearing swastika armbands. It is the pro-Palestinian crowd. Still, many of the pro-Palestinians will bring up the old canards about Jews, such as running and controlling the banks as well as the politicians in Washington. Many of them have adapted the complaints used by Nazis and earlier anti-Semites. Yet, they will insist that they are only anti-Zionist-not anti-Jewish. And while all that is going on, certain leftist Jewish professors link arms with those that would drive every last Jew out of the Middle East. As for the Jew hatred exhibited by their pro-Palestinian allies, they ignore it or they deny it altogether. Norman Finkelstein, for one, has denied it twice in my presence in answer to my questions.

All decent Americans must stand up and say No to this resurgence in Jew hatred, which is emanating from our universities. First, they must be aware of it. If you are not paying attention to what is happening on our campuses, you would not be aware because the mainstream media doesn't want to devote a lot of time and space to it. First and foremost, our university presidents and chancellors must be held accountable if they don't take concrete steps to confront anti-Semitism on campus and protect their Jewish students.

Currently, the University of California regents are considering a proposal from UC President Janet Napolitano to adopt the State Department's definition of anti-Semitism. That doesn't kill free speech, as the pro-Palestinian crowd is claiming. It does, however, provide more insight for all students as to how this Israel-Palestinian debate is feeding into hatred against Jews as a people. It would provide administrators with the opportunity, if not the moral duty, to remind their students about the problem of anti-Semitism when hate speech occurs-and to denounce it.  It would be a good start for the regents to adopt the definition.

Germany's Troubling Debate Over Holocaust Education

In the last decades, Germany has done what I consider an admirable job in educating their young generations about the Holocaust. Now because of their restive Muslim immigrants, many of whom harbor anti-Jewish attitudes, the country is now engaged in a debate over whether they should bother Muslim children with visits to concentration camps. The argument goes that as recent immigrants, they are not responsible for the Holocaust.

Either are the young native Germans, but as German citizens, they must understand their country's past. The idea is that it never happens again. It is in that same spirit that we educate our children about slavery and segregation. We don't want it to happen again. New immigrants to America? Sorry, but you also need to understand our past-both good and bad.  As I recall, the wave of Irish and Italians who came here arrived after the Civil War. Their descendants are in the same boat as the rest of us even if their ancestors had no role in slavery.

Those who wish to exempt immigrant children, I suspect, are really concerned about not offending them with expressions of sympathy for Jews. Let's face it: Many of these immigrants come from countries that still think Hitler was a good guy. After all, Mein Kampf (Mein Jihad) is still a best seller in many Middle Eastern countries.

Germany must not abdicate its role in educating their young about their unfortunate past. Those who choose to immigrate to Germany and remain, must also understand their adopted country's history.

I added my own comment on the above reader thread (not yet posted). Ms Kumar, I note, was one of the faculty activists who opposed a speaking appearance by Condi Rice at Rutgers recently. Thus, she appears to be another one of these academics who feel that free speech only applies to them because opposing opinions are just wrong and therefore not fit to be heard and evaluated.

Ms Kumar has the right of free speech to trash her adopted country (She comes from India). Nobody is going to arrest her and nobody is going to fire her.

But folks like little ol' me also have a right to respond to her vile comments and express our own. If anyone has threatened her, as she says, I condemn that. But I will gladly join the ranks of "right-wing blogs" that are criticizing her.

The US Continues to Turn a Blind Eye to Islamic Persecution of Christians (and Other Threats)

As Islamic persecution of Christians continues to rage world-wide, our clueless administration continues to ignore it. Our State Department tries to keep Christians from even visiting the US to testify about what is happening. Meanwhile, the administration is in the process of relocating some 65,000 Syrians to the US. And we just cross-posted that story about a DHS bus full of Somalis being taken from the Mexican border to a detention center.

And speaking of Jeh Johnson, the empty suit head of DHS, this is the guy who just recently was asked by a Congressional Committee if anyone in the administration had reached out to the Steinle family, to which he said, "To who?" He had no idea who the young lady (Kate Steinle) was or at least he didn't know the name of the victim of the murder  in San Francisco at the hands of an illegal alien career criminal who should not have been on the streets to begin with. It was the biggest DHS-related issue on that day, and he didn't even know the name of the victim. After it was explained to him, he said that he didn't know if the family had been contacted. (They hadn't.)

But it gets worse with this boob. This week, he was captured on video explaining why DHS and the administration are not supposed to use the term Islamic terror when talking about ISIS or all the other Islamic terror groups.

It is because (according to Johnson) we need to reach out to the Muslim community and assure them that all this has nothing to do with Islam (hat tip Inquisitr).

If I may ask Mr Johnson a rather convoluted question: If all this terror emanating from ISIS, al Qaeda, al Shabaab, Hamas, Hezbollah, and all the others has nothing to do with Islam, what trust or cooperation is needed? Why do you need to reach out to the Muslim community?

Planned Parenthood Official: " I Want a Lamborghini"

The Center for Medical Progress, a pro-life group, has just released a second undercover video with another top Planned Parenthood official. In this video, Dr. Mary Gatter discusses the sale of fetal tissue. This tape is just as shocking as the first released by CMP. It also contradicts a statement just issued by PP president Cecile Richards that PP does not profit in any way from fetal tissue.

Regardless of where you stand on the abortion issue, these tapes have to make you sick. Where have we come as a society where we have this organization, which receives millions of dollars from the government, can show such crass indifference to the babies they are aborting? These people can sit there over lunch and discuss what parts of a baby to crush and how much certain organs or tissue will cost. This is Nazi-like thinking.

Exaggerating am I? Contrast this with images of Joseph Mengele at Auschwitz taking twins off of box-cars to conduct experiments on them at Auschwitz. Contrast this with the Nazi euthanasia of the mentally disabled and forced abortions on the disabled, feeble-minded, Jews and Gypsies.

And you know what? The main reason the Nazis built the gas chambers at places like Auschwitz was that the psychological stress was becoming too much on the ordinary German soldiers, who were herding Jews en masse into ditches and shooting them by the hundreds. People like Heinrich Himmler recognized that they were producing soldiers who were being destroyed psychologically and turned into alcoholics to drown their guilt. That was also why they used prisoners to do the dirty work of herding the Jews into the gas chambers, cremating the bodies and disposing of the ashes.

Dr Gatter should have asked for a Mercedes Benz instead of a Lamborghini.

This is a classic example of how this nation began to lose its soul when Roe vs Wade was passed. Now we have doctors stuffing their faces with salad and asking for refills of their wine as they casually describe how they "did" a "17-weeker" that very morning.

If you want to argue that abortion is a right and a necessity, be my guest. Then explain to me why Planned Parenthood is deserving of government (tax-payer) funding.

Chattanooga: Just the Latest and More to Come

Chattanooga, Tennessee now is the latest dot on the US terror map. We have four dead Marines killed far from the field of combat by a 24-year-old Kuwaiti-born Tennessee resident named Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez. These are the latest sacrifices on the altar of the religion of peace.

Not all the facts are in, but I have some preliminary thoughts.

Isn't Kuwait the nation we liberated from a horrific occupation by Saddam Hussein's Iraqi army?

I do not regard it as an accident that Tennessee has now seen a terrorist attack. Bill Warner, a Tennessee resident and expert on Islam has long warned that Tennessee is an active battleground state with much Islamist activity including the controversial construction of the Murfreesboro mosque. The thinking is that if Islam can conquer a Bible Belt state like Tennessee, the other 49 will be easy.

I also note the name of William Killian, the US Attorney from Knoxville, who is front and center making public pronouncements on this case. The is the same man who two years ago was making implied threats to local citizens in Manchester, Tennessee that they could be prosecuted for their opposition to Islam.

Liberal Bias in Academia? The AAUW

There have been a lot of reports of surveys in recent years showing the liberal bias and political leanings (Democrat) of university professors. Here is one to add to the list. While waiting for my class to begin yesterday at UC Irvine, I picked up a copy of the American Association of University Women from a campus news rack. The issue was dedicated to the voting record of the 113th Congress, which covers the period January 2013-August 2014. If you go to the first link, you can download (second link) the voting records of each member of the Senate and House of Representatives as to 9 particular issues that the AAUW has interest in. A plus mark indicates that the politician has voted favorably on the issue (according to AAUW), while a minus sign indicates the opposite. In addition, each person is given a score from 0-100, one hundred being highest according to the scale. Obviously, a score above 50 is favorable while a score below 50 is unfavorable.

You will note that in most every case, Republicans scored below 50 while Democrats scored above 50. This pretty much tells you the leanings of the AAUW. At the first link you can also view past ratings.

What ISIS Did in Palmyra

A week or so ago, ISIS captured the Syrian town of Palmyra, a site noted for its antiquities and Roman columns. Of course all that pre-dated the birth of Islam, so according to ISIS, it must be eradicated. Most observers expect the columns to come down soon while other treasures have already been smashed.

Now ISIS has used the Roman structures as a backdrop for their latest massacre, the execution of 25 captured Syrian soldiers. The video produced by ISIS with great pride comes from the French blog, Revoltes en Europe. (Warning: They are graphic.)

The title in French reads, "Muslims of the Islamic State kill 25 Syrian soldiers. Those who are sensitive should refrain (from watching). The video has been hidden from view on orders by the media."

Lois Lerner Saga: IRS and DOJ Violated the Law

Judicial Watch has obtained more documents that show that Lois Lerner, her agency (IRS), and DOJ were working to go after conservative political groups criminally. More specifically, the IRS gave tax-payer income tax returns to the FBI-in violation of the law.

Indictments should follow in this mess. Unfortunately, who is going to indict and prosecute? DOJ?

The Clinton-Blumenthal Connection: What the Media Is Missing

The emergence of e-mails between ex-Clinton administration hatchet man Sidney Blumenthal and Hillary Clinton on her private e-mail server during her tenure as secretary of state is troubling for a variety of reasons. While the media is focusing on the appropriateness (or lack thereof) of Ms. Clinton receiving e-mails on a private server from Blumenthal on the topic of Libya, they are missing another critical point. That is Sidney Blumenhal's son, Max Blumenthal.

Max Blumenthal is a journalist by trade, but in recent years has pretty much discredited himself with his fanatical obsession and activism against the state of Israel. These days, he pretty much makes his living writing and speaking about the "evils" of Israel vis-a-vis the Palestinians, whose cause he supports. Max is also a supporter of the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel, which has gained particular traction on college campuses.

To give an example of just how unhinged this character is, he made a spectacle of himself in Berlin last year when he went on a rampage through the Parliament (Reichstag) building over the fact that a speaking appearance of his was cancelled.

Here is the point that the media seems to be missing: If it is troubling for Ms. Clinton to be getting and passing on e-mails from Sidney Blumenthal providing information about Libya from a friend of his with business interests in that country during a tumultuous point in time, could it be that Sidney was also passing on tidbits about our ally Israel from his son Max-a fanatical enemy of that country?  

Is that not a matter of concern? Shouldn't somebody in the media or Congress be asking Ms Clinton or Sidney Blumenthal about that?

In San Francisco, the Chickens Come Home to Roost-Once Again

Out here in California, San Francisco and Los Angeles both pride themselves as "sanctuary cities". That means they practically welcome illegal aliens, More specifically, they don't cooperate with ICE when it comes to the illegal aliens that go through their respective justice systems. That means that illegal alien who get arrested for crimes often go through the local justice system and when they are released from jail, ICE isn't notified.

This was brought home with great force in recent years when a high school football star, Jamiel Shaw, was shot down and killed on a sidewalk near his home by an illegal alien gang member who had just been released from jail with no notice to ICE.

The same year (2008) , another illegal alien gang member (MS 13) just out of jail in San Francisco shot and killed a man and his two sons in a road rage incident.

You would think these cities would learn, but they don't. Now we have another innocent person shot to death in San Francisco by an illegal alien who, in this case, has been deported five times.

I don't know the details about this latest killer's (Francisco Sanchez) 5 deportations, but the last one was in 2009, and he was recently released from jail even though ICE had requested he be turned over to them. A federal hold means that the locals don't simply release prisoners on the street, but turn them over to the feds when they are finished with them. To be fair, the locals don't want to hold prisoners any longer than their local charges warrant for fear of lawsuits, so it behooves the feds to be there on time when the person is released.

Here is the trick: ICE literally has to determine on their own when a person is going to be released and be there at the jail to grab them as they leave. The way the system should work is that ICE places a hold and coordinates with the locals to know when a release is to be made so they can take custody. It's a simple procedure, but it is clear that the locals are not fully cooperating. As I understand it, only in cases of prisoners convicted of serious felonies will the local notify ICE and inform them when the prisoner will be released. So in LA and San Francisco, we have illegal alien criminals getting out of local jails and nobody tells ICE. Now we see the result.

By the way, one of the public figures involved in this mess is Kamala Harris, former San Francisco DA and current California attorney general. She is now running for the US Senate seat being vacated by Barbara Boxer and is a favorite to win the Democratic nomination. Since California is literally devoid of Republicans that means she will probably be our next US Senator.

Response to a Crybaby Professor

Jonathan Judaken is a professor at Rhodes College in Memphis. In March, he gave a presentation at the University of Rochester, whose message was Muslims are the new Jews a kind of twisted defense of Muslims from the charge that they tend to be anti-Jewish.

Anyway, Judaken's presentation was critiqued by another professor, AJ Caschetta of the Rochester Institute of Technology, who wrote the below piece that appeared in Jihad Watch among other sites.

Now it seems to me that professors who deem to speak out on the issues of the day are entitled to have their say. It's called freedom of speech. On the other hand, since they choose to enter the arena, others also have the freedom of speech to disagree. Professor Caschetta is hardly a policeman or even a US senator like Joe McCarthy was. He is in no position to take away Judaken's freedom of speech, his job, or God forbid, his liberty. I think Professor Caschetta refutes the McCarthyism charge much more eloquently than I ever could.

Of course, on a college campus, charges of McCarthyism and victimhood always carry traction. I know because I work on a college campus myself. But in the real world and in the places I frequent after a hard day at work, Mt Judaken would be laughed out of the joint.

Black Churches Burning?

A couple of nights ago I was watching CNN International from London (much more to the left of their US counterparts). They were reporting the burning of a black church in Greeleyville, South Carolina. I was pretty taken back especially when I heard the next day that 6 black churches have been burned in the South just since the shooting in Charleston. That was reported by the New York Times. I thought to myself, "Are we really getting this bad that we are returning to the bad old days? Is there really that much white hatred for black people in America? What happened to the New South? Have I been wrong about my own perceptions?"

At this point, it appears that the Greeleyville church fire was caused by lightning.

Don't get me wrong; one case of a racist arson against a black church is one too many. However, it appears that some very prominent news organizations have taken a story and run with it before the facts have come in. We have seen it with Treyvon Martin. We have seen it with Michael Brown.

Those CNN news anchors over there in London are sitting there crowing that America is a racist country. They are no better than the clowns that you see on MSNBC. They ought to be paying attention to their own country, which is collapsing all around them.

This is a dangerous business these irresponsible journalists are engaging in. Tensions are high enough in this country and false stories like this only fan the flames. How irresponsible is it to take a church that was apparently struck by lightning and before the embers have died out, talk about white racists burning down black churches before you know that is the case. Again: If some white racist yahoo sets fire to a black church, I want the police to catch the guy and throw him in prison for a few decades.

This is another example of why Sean Hannity talks about the death of American journalism.

Katie Norcross (Findalis) In Memorium



This posting is way overdue, but I have spent a lot of time trying to decide how to deal with the passing of Monkey in the Middle's creator, Katie Norcross, who also used the pen name of Findalis.

Katie passed away in May after a long battle with cancer. As readers have noted, postings slowed noticeably on this site and most of the latest of the posts were by contributing writers such as myself. Katie had reached a point where she simply could not continue.

Katie, who was a military veteran, was a tireless warrior in defending her country, fighting anti-Semitism and informing her readers about the dangers of Islamic extremism. She was also a frequent commenter on my own blog (Fousesquawk). She was gracious enough to allow me and others to post articles on her site. I considered her a partner in a mutual struggle.

I never met Katie personally but spoke to her occasionally on the phone. Last September, while I was visiting Chicago, we tried to arrange a get together, but her medical procedures got in the way.

Presently, I am trying to figure out what to do with Monkey in the Middle. I have consulted fellow contributors, many of whom are currently inactive due to their own health issues. Shall I keep it going in Katie's memory or give it a suitable closing? I feel-and the others echo those sentiments-that Katie would want us to keep it going. I am leaning in that direction though I have not made a final decision.

But the main thing is that Katie rest in peace in the arms of the Lord.

Our Insane Immigration Policy

The below report is not only troubling, it is outrageous. With a clear and present danger of Islamic terrorism in our own country, our government is rushing pell-mell in an insane drive to bring more and more Muslim immigrants into this country. Never mind 9-11. Never mind the Boston Marathon massacre. Never mind the numerous FBI interceptions of would be jihadists. Never mind those who have left the US to join the Jihad with the clear intent to bring it back to our shores.

Our government continues to actively sponsor a flood of Muslim immigrants to this country.

The Media is Demonizing the Targets of the Garland Attack

The dust has barely settled over Garland, Texas, and already the liberal media is going into overdrive to demonize not the two shooters who died trying to barge their way into the center where they would have killed possibly scores of people, but the organizers of the Draw Mohammad cartoon event. The number one target is Pam Geller. The below article by NPR is typical:

We should also note that the media is largely using the Southern Poverty Law Center as a source of attack. The SPLC has done some good work in the past in identifying truly hateful people and organizations. The problem is that they have a liberal bent and have singled out some people and organizations erroneously. I think Geller and her organization is one example.

First of all, there has to be a distinction made between criticizing Islam, sharia law, and the jihadists who seek to do us harm and Muslims as people. Thus, I think it is off the mark to charge the American Freedom Defense Initiative as being, "anti-Muslim".

Furthermore, instead of blaming the targets of the attack because their cartoon contest was offensive to Muslims, these critics should be saying, "It's only a cartoon". In other words, how does drawing cartoons justify deadly violence?

"Because it is blasphemous," say the critics.

Yes, it is, but so is showing an "art" exhibit with Christ on a crucifix dunked in a jar of urine or showing the Virgin Mary encased in elephant dung. Christians are highly insulted by that. Mormons are insulted by a play called, "The Book of Mormon" that insults the Mormon religion. Yet that is all called art, and we were reminded that it falls under freedom of expression. Christians and Mormons were told to get over it. And we did. Nobody got killed, and there were no riots. No museums or theaters were burned down.

But political correctness dictates that Geller, Robert Spencer, Geert Wilders and the other near-victims in Garland be criticized because they mocked the Prophet Mohammad. Yet it must be pointed out that this was a reaction to the fact that Islamic organizations had recently held a "Stand by Our Prophet Day" at the same site in Garland as a reaction to the Charlie Hebdo massacre in Paris.

Maybe that was offensive too.

Let us be honest. Even the liberal left knows there is a fundamental difference between how Christians, Mormons and other religions react to being insulted or mocked and the way Muslims do *(not all Muslims, of course). We know that insulting Islam results in some Muslims becoming very violent-murderously violent. Does that mean that we must all become silent and not discuss what is happening around the world? Must we remain silent when Christians are the object of genocide in the Middle East? Must we remain silent as we witness the beheadings? Can we not freely discuss the problem and the causes, to say nothing about the threats we face? If we decide that cartoons are off-limits, what's next-pointing out that there are violent verses in the Koran?

Here is how I have handled the Mohammad cartoon question on this site: On the one hand, I have not shown Mohammad cartoons, nor have I reproduced Charlie Hebdo's cartoons. What I have done is show cartoons that have come out as a response to the Paris massacres. Below is an example.




That cartoon does not insult anybody but the violent jihadists, and I am perfectly comfortable with it. No apologies are warranted or forthcoming.

Reasonable people can disagree on the wisdom of showing Mohammad cartoons. The right to do so in America is not negotiable. But there can be no tolerance for anyone thinking they can conduct murder and mayhem in this country over the issue. This is America. We have the First Amendment. Once we give that up, America is gone.

It's Not the Police Who Have Failed Baltimore

Whatever the facts of Freddie Gray's death, a few things are becoming clearer by the day. Baltimore's biggest problem is not the police. It is their political leadership.

First of all, it's hard to say black Baltimoreans have been the victims of a racist system when you have a black mayor, a black chief of police, black city council members and 40% black cops. Add to that our African-American president and both of his attorneys general, Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch.

Baltimore is a tough, working-class city and not a place where you go walking around at night. Once you have visited the beautiful Inner Harbor, things get gritty fast. Tonight, I heard reports that there are some 35,000 abandoned buildings in the city. This city is in a sad state of affairs.

First of all, the city's mayor has failed in her responsibilities, both with her order to the police to stand down on the evening of April 27 and not even don their riot helmets. An added disgrace was her public statements about allowing the ones who wanted to destroy things to have their space, She then denied she said it even though it is clearly on videotape. Today, shielded by the ever-ready Al Sharpton, she glumly refused to answer questions from Fox's reporter Leland Vittert glaring at him as Sharpton and her entourage pushed Vittert back. Indeed, Baltimore's politicians-and Elijah Cummings have reacted angrily to the presence of reporters.

What we are seeing in Baltimore is a testament to the political failure of big city Democratic dominance. Look at other cities like Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago and other places-dominated by the Democrat party for decades. They are failed cities, with the arguable exception of Chicago with its combination of glitter mixed with South Side gang murders off the charts, a problem Rahm Emanuel and his predecessors have been unable to stem.  The same statement could be made about Los Angeles. You want to see how a beautiful city like San Francisco can deteriorate under the weight of the thousands of homeless people roaming the streets? Take a walk through downtown San Francisco. When did it become depressing to walk around the City by the Bay? (Of course, you can escape all that by going to Golden Gate Park, where you can stroll down Nancy Pelosi Drive.)

In addition, many of the above cities have had black mayors, black aldermen/ women, black city council members, and black police chiefs. Where has been the improvement in the lives of the inner city residents?  The question I ask is why black voters never hold the Democratic party accountable whether they are white, black, Hispanic politicians or otherwise.

If the Baltimore police were guilty of malfeasance or negligence in the death of Mr Gray, let the facts come out. Letting people riot, burn and injure police officers is unacceptable. In addition, it is hoped that the public will take a second look at how Democrats are running these big cities

At the Daily Tarheel, Free Speech For Me-Not For Thee

In recent days, Mitt Romney has spoken at Duke and David Horowitz at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This has resulted in  an editorial by the Daily Tarheel, the campus paper at UNC. It maintains that campus speakers should be chosen "with discretion".

Really? So Mitt Romney should not speak at Duke because he is partisan. Would the Daily Tarheel object to President Obama or Hillary Clinton speaking at Duke or UNC? Have they objected to Democratic politicians speaking on campus in the past. I doubt it.

And they object to David Horowitz expressing his right of free speech at UNC? The truth hurts, doesn't it? Would the Daily Tarheel object to speakers from the "other side" speaking on campus?

I note that just in February, both schools hosted a Malcolm X event in which Professor Sohail Daulatzai, my "good friend" from UC Irvine, was a panelist. This is man who not only hates Israel, but also considers America to be a racist, imperialistic nation.

Hussam Ayloush (CAIR) Meets Tom Trento (Again)

Here is a nice film clip of Tom Trento of The United West greeting CAIR's LA director, Hussam Ayloush during "Capitol Day"* in Washington DC. Tom asks Ayloush if there is a Muslim Brotherhood in the US and gets the typical lie for an answer.

I wonder if Ayloush recognized Trento from their previous encounter in May 2011 in Anaheim when we were protesting an award being given to Muzammil Siddiqi. That was when Tom told Ayloush that he represented a despicable organization (CAIR). Ayloush had to be "rescued" by his cohort, Shakeel Syed of the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California, who came and grabbed Ayloush by the arm and led him across the street. It was quite comical.

As to the question of whether there is a Muslim Brotherhood in America, the answer is yes though not in a formal sense. Their representatives are organizations like CAIR, MPAC, ISNA, ICNA and the Muslim Students Association. That was brought out in the 2007 Holy Land Foundation trial in Dallas where an "explanatory memorandum" was introduced into evidence, which had been seized by the FBI  That was a 1991 Brotherhood letter addressed to several; of the above organizations (CAIR had not yet been founded) identifying them as the "North American brothers, whose task it was to destroy the American system from within. It was surely this document that Trento was offering to show Ayloush.

It is also the same document I handed to Brotherhood representative Ibrahim El Hudaiby when he came to UC Irvine in 2008  to speak in Professor Mark LeVine's class. Hudaiby told the students a number of lies including that the Brotherhood had no people in the US. He pronounced the document a forgery. (It was not.)

* Capitol Day: An annual event whereby CAIR and other Islamist activists flood the US and many state capitols with representatives lobbying for their causes.

Tufts University Professor Gives Bizarre Speech

Bizarre. That's the only word I can attach to this presentation given March 17 in Washington DC by Tufts University professor Thomas Abowd on the issue of Israel and Jerusalem. Andrew Harrod wrote the below article for Frontpage Magazine.

There's not a lot one can add to Harrod's piece, which leaves one with the impression that Abowd must have been smoking his socks prior to taking the microphone. I would like to add a couple of points though.

First of all, how many times is there word "Jerusalem" found in the Old and New Testaments? Hundreds, I would guess. How about the Koran?

Zero.

That is because, Dear Reader, Jerusalem was the capital of the Jewish land of Israel three thousand years ago long before Islam was born.The Islamic claim to Jerusalem as their third holiest city is based on the belief that the prophet Mohammad flew there on a winged horse one night from where he ascended into the heavens to meet with prior prophets. Even then, it was referred to as "the farthest mosque"-even though there was no mosque there at the time. That's rock solid.

And when did the Arabs in the region begin referring to themselves as "Palestinians"? That would be in the 1960s.

Before closing, let me retract the above crack about Abowd smoking his socks. I just realized that March 17 was St Patrick's Day. That explains the boffo statements. In the future I would hope Abowd will celebrate St Paddies Day after he gives a speech.
