"Darn it! Where's the toilet plunger when I need it?"
Benjamin Franklin would be rolling in his grave if he knew what his fabled university has degenerated into. This weekend, the University of Pennsylvania is hosting another one of those (yawn) annoying anti-Israel confabs masquerading as education and intellectual discourse. This one is actually the big bash for the Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions movement against Israel. The below letter was written by Elizabeth Berney.
Hat tip to Campus Watch
Judging from the lineup, I'd say Penn has a ways to go before they catch up with our University of California campuses. When it comes to dragging in misfits, malcontents, cast-offs, kapos, and anti-Semites, we're the champs.
Here is the "exciting" program:
I see young Anna Baltzer will be speaking. She's been to UC Irvine a couple of times. Her presentation is pathetic. She even features a slide presentation, you know, like when your annoying cousin goes to Europe an insists on showing everybody the slides she took. At UCI a couple of years back, I asked her who paid for her to travel all over the world giving her talks. Her answer was her publishers, who was so thrilled with her book sales they decided to finance her travels here, there and everywhere condemning Israel.
And did you see who is there in spirit?
"Yeh, I did."
Why, none other than that famous Canadian feminist Naomi Klein...
....and that Israeli university professor and patriot, Ilan Pappe. He's also on the lecture circuit helping push his own country into the abyss. And no one-sided university propaganda-fest would be complete without a major statement from that boob, Cornell West of Princeton University. He's a big expert on the Middle East, you know.
Speaking of Princeton, I'm surprised that the great Norman Finkelstein, the "independent scholar with a PhD from Princeton", won't be appearing. Maybe, he'll make a surprise appearance.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, Israel's neighbor and enemy, Syria, has slaughtered another 200 of its own people. You won't hear a word about that this weekend in Philadelphia. You talk about hypocrisy.
"Ya talk about chickensh--!"
Update: (Hat tip to Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers) The BDS organizers have now banned a Jewish newspaper from attending the conference.
