Abortion and George Mason University - What's That About the Fourth Trimester?

To add context to this story, George Mason University is offering a course in "Race and Politics, Trayvon Martin" this Fall. Dan Joseph for MRCTV (Media Research Center) asks students on the campus to sign a petition making fourth trimester abortions legal. Understanding that students, and even a teacher do not have the critical thinking skills to know the fourth trimester of the pregnancy is after a child is born, we still must assume they at least consider the baby is very close to birth. Joseph uses words like "post pregnancy," "40 weeks," "a woman shouldn't suffer because of an unwanted post-pregnancy," "we believe in a child and a choice," "that would be after the 9th month of pregnancy."

After one hour, he had 14 signatures on a mostly vacant summer campus. As a woman signs the petition, she says, "yeah I just had a baby three months ago."

 At about 3:46-in, a student asks Joseph if he would be interested in a Bible "discussion" that afternoon.

“Currently fourth trimester abortions are illegal in all 50 states,” he told students before asking them to sign his petition. Most student responses varied from “okay” to “cool.” 

One concerned student asked if the procedure would “cause harm to the child.” “Well the child wouldn’t be there anymore,” responded Joseph. “It’s abortion.”
