Is The US Government Using Taxpayer Funds To Build A Mosque At Ground Zero?

I am a firm believer that the US Government has no place in religion.  It must keep its hands off people's practices, our forms of worship,where and how to build our Houses of Worship.  In short, it stays out of our religions.  That is fine with me.  I don't want or desire a State Religion.  A faith that I must support with my taxes (Whether I believe in it or not.), have my taxes build its places of worship, or even force me to pay extra taxes (The Jizya) for the privilege of living in the land.

Yet this is exactly what the planners of the Park 51 Muslim Community Center (Originally called Cordoba House) are proposing.

Park51 has applied for a Lower Manhattan Development Corporation grant which would in part fund social service programs for all the residents of Lower Manhattan such as domestic violence prevention, Arabic and other foreign language classes, programs and services for homeless veterans, two multi-cultural art exhibits and immigration services.

It is important to note that that this community center will provide hundreds of construction jobs over the next few years and when opened will provide 150 permanent jobs. In addition, this community center, which will include a gym, a pool, a day care center, a pre-K, a culinary institute, tech classes, an amphitheater, and a 9/11 Memorial, is desperately needed in Lower Manhattan. This is why community leaders and the residents who live there universally support this project.

This is wrong.  Park 51 is asking the US government to pay for their building.  It would be equally wrong for any religious group of any faith to ask the US government for funds to build their House of Worship, even if they call it a community center.  Park 51 is still a Mosque, masquerading as a community center and must be denied taxpayer funds due to establishment clause issues.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

No taxpayer funds should ever go to the building of a House of Worship for any faith. It is the right thing to do in order to protect the religious freedoms guaranteed under the First Amendment.

Bad Faith At Ground Zero

Once again Pat Condell is speaking out against the Ground Zero Mosque, Mayor Bloomberg, and President Obama.  He holds no bar, speaks his mind and lets the chips fall where they will.

The Truth Behind The Ground Zero Mosque

The ruins of the World Trade Center and the ground that they occupied are considered by many people (myself included) sacred ground.  Thus the proposal for a Mosque to be built at Ground Zero is offensive to us, due to the nature of the attacks that day, the religion of the attackers and the joy the Muslim world had when the news of the destruction and death of that infamous day was broadcast to them.

The members of the left-wing  and their mouthpieces in the media are screaming how the Imam of this Mosque is a moderate, is a bridge-builder, is a true man of peace, a loving man.  Just listen to his views:



Why is it that Muslims cannot or will not accept responsibility for this atrocity?  In fact they are the biggest deniers of the truth behind 9/11.  They claim George Bush, the CIA, the Israelis, MI-5, and or the Mossad all did 9/11 to discredit Islam, attack Afghanistan and Iraq, kill Saddam Hussein and steal the oil of Iraq.

Now those who support this monstrosity have shown their true colors.  Listen to their noise, their hatred, their sense of self-righteousness.  No where do they check their rhetoric or anti-Semitism, even when it is known that they were being filmed.  Keep your eyes open around the 3:55 mark (Hat Tip to Israel Matzav)



For the record:  The majority of those you have just seen where bussed in from other cities.  It seems that the majority of New Yorkers are AGAINST this Mosque being built at Ground Zero!!

Now I ask you.  Who are the real racists?  The ones opposing the proposed Mosque or the supporters who blame 9/11 and now this ground swell of opposition on the Jews?

He Said What?

Very few things Barack Hussein Obama says or does surprise me any more.  Both he and his wife have shown their contempt for manners, decency and the will of the American people.  But this is a new low for Their Majesties Louis XVI and and Marie Antoinette Barack and Michelle Obama.

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama on Friday forcefully endorsed building a mosque near ground zero, saying the country's founding principles demanded no less.

"As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country," Obama said, weighing in for the first time on a controversy that has riven New York City and the nation.

"That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he said. "This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable."

Obama made the comments at an annual dinner in the White House State Dining Room celebrating the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Republicans were quick to pounce on the president's remarks.

"President Obama is wrong," said Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y. "It is insensitive and uncaring for the Muslim community to build a mosque in the shadow of ground zero. While the Muslim community has the right to build the mosque they are abusing that right by needlessly offending so many people who have suffered so much."

The White House had not previously taken a stand on the mosque, which would be part of a $100 million Islamic center to be built two blocks from where nearly 3,000 people perished when hijacked jetliners slammed into the World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11, 2001. Press secretary Robert Gibbs had insisted it was a local matter.

It was already much more than that, sparking debate around the country as top Republicans including Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich announced their opposition. So did the Anti-Defamation League, a Jewish civil rights group.

Obama elevated it to a presidential issue Friday without equivocation.

While insisting that the place where the twin towers once stood was indeed "hallowed ground," Obama said that the proper way to honor it was to apply American values

"Our capacity to show not merely tolerance, but respect to those who are different from us -- a way of life that stands in stark contrast to the nihilism of those who attacked us on that September morning, and who continue to plot against us today," he said.

Entering the highly charged election-year debate, Obama surely knew that his words would not only make headlines but be heard by Muslims worldwide. The president has made it a point to reach out to the global Muslim community, and guests at Friday's dinner included ambassadors and officials from numerous Muslim nations, including Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.

While his pronouncement concerning the mosque might find favor in the Muslim world, Obama's stance runs counter to the opinions of the majority of Americans, according to polls. A CNN/Opinion Research poll released this week found that nearly 70 percent of Americans opposed the mosque plan while just 29 percent approved.

A number of Democratic politicians have shied away from the controversy. New York's mayor, independent Michael Bloomberg, has been a strong supporter of the mosque, which has won approval from local planning boards.

The group behind the $100 million project, the Cordoba Initiative, describes it as a Muslim-themed community center. Early plans call not only for prayer space but for a swimming pool, culinary school, art studios and other features. Developers envision it as a hub for interfaith interaction, as well as a place for Muslims to bridge some of their faith's own schisms.

Opponents, including some Sept. 11 victims' relatives, see the prospect of a mosque so near the destroyed trade center as an insult to the memory of those killed by Islamic terrorists in the 2001 attacks. Some of the Sept. 11 victims' relatives, however, are in favor.

The Anti-Defamation League and the Simon Wiesenthal Center both have condemned the building of any Mosque so close to Ground Zero.  They call it impolite and uncaring on the parts of the planners.  This Mosque will only bring pain to those who lost a loved one, and promote hatred towards Muslims and Islam.  Something that is already happening.

It has been reported that President Obama already sees himself as a One-Term President.  If that is true, then it is time we start treating him as a Lame Duck.
