Boycott Fever!

For many years there has been a campaign by the anti-Semitic left to institute a boycott in the academic world against the facility members of Israeli Universities.
They scream APARTHEID as if by using the word over and over it will prove to be true (Israeli is the only nation in the Middle East that grants full, equal citizenship and rights to its minority populations). Yet the call for a boycott grows stronger each day.

Now the Norwegians will be the first Western nation to boycott Israeli academics:
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), the second largest in the Scandinavian country, is expected to decide next Thursday whether or not to declare an academic boycott against Israel.

The university's board will meet on November 12 to decide on the matter.

In 2007 the British Association of University Teachers considered boycotting Bar-Ilan and Haifa universities.

The decision to ban the two universities, which was eventually reversed, was premised on the claim that Haifa University limits academic freedom when it comes to research that criticizes Israeli policies, while Bar-Ilan was slammed for operating an affiliated college in the West Bank settlement of Ariel.

Merit Ernstad, who chairs the board of directors, told Ynet that despite her opposition to the move, she would not work to cancel the meeting, adding that those who called for the boycott could not be defined as pro-Palestinian or left-wing.
We can define it as anti-Semitism though.

We will now see a rush of organizations to join in the boycott. The neo-Nazis from Britian, and the US will do so gleefully!

What Norway is doing does not surprise me. They welcomed Hitler with open arms on 9 April 1940. Their leader, Vidkun Abraham Lauritz Jonssøn Quisling was not only a supporter of Hitler, but modeled his government after Germany's.

While Quisling's name is synonymous with traitor in English. I guess it is acceptable in Norwegian. For now he and his policies are acceptable to the Norwegian people.

Pretty soon the Norwegians will start to show the true nature of their boycott and recreate scenes like this one:

What a unique way to teach history. Just repeat it!

The UCU Boycott Backfires!

For the past 3 years the University and College Union of Great Britain has tried to impose upon their members a boycott of all Israeli academic professionals. They claim that this will help bring attention to their beleaguered colleagues in the West Bank and Gaza. Colleagues that the Israelis are keeping from discovering new theories and inventions that the Israelis are preventing them from discovering. Or so they say.

But the majority of the membership is against such a move. As is the majority of American Universities who have stated if such a boycott would result in a boycott of British academics by American Universities.

In the face of US opposition and British Law, the UCU stepped down. But not quite. They still want a boycott of Israeli academics. They just can't do it legally.

To counter this, the rank and file just go along with their every day lives.
A new academic initiative entitled “Making Connections” will bring together scientists from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel with their counterparts from top-level research institutions in the UK, including the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London (ICL) and University College London (UCL).

The project’s launch comes amid continuing attempts to impose in England an academic boycott on Israeli institutions. The UK University and College Union has just announced that it is ending its academic boycott of Israel.

Weizmann Institute President Prof. Daniel Zajfman said, “Scientific ideas and discoveries benefit all humankind. Thus it seems only natural that scientists worldwide should focus their efforts collectively in broadening the boundaries of human knowledge." He further stated his vision that the program will develop into a prestigious, bi-national project, akin to existing programs that Israel has developed with the U.S. and Germany.

The Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, is a leading multidisciplinary research institution. Home to 2,600 scientists, students, technicians and supporting staff, the institute research projects include the search for new ways of fighting disease and hunger, examining leading questions in mathematics and computer science, probing the physics of matter and the universe, creating novel materials and developing new strategies for protecting the environment.

Full Story

I find it strange that the Saudis do not fund scientific research on any level. And why is it that with all their money the Arabs of the world do not produce the best scientists, doctors or even have the best medical care in the area. It is the small country of Israel, with limited funds and great talent that invests in the future of science.

The UCU would like all their colleagues to study with Saudi Scientist. Not to bring up the Saudi level of scientific endeavour, but to pay off the Saudi government for all the money that they have invested in British Universities and Colleges building Islamic Study Centers.

And British scientists just might start to believe the JUNK SCIENCE that prevails the whole Arab world.

UCU: Banning a poster, hating the people.

The University and College Union (UCU) of Great Britain is a bastion of left-wing moonbats and communist rejects. Any loony idea that is against the good and decent in this world, they support. Take Israel. In May this organization put forth a motion to boycott all Israeli Universities and colleagues. They tried this tactic in 2007 and was shot down by their rank and file. But do these moonbats ever learn? No. They still try to pass this idiotic idea over and over.

But that isn't the half of it. The members of this organization are active supporters of extreme far-right hate mongers such as David Duke. Messages posted on their message board regularly send people to his website. It took Harry's Place to show this hatred to Great Britain and the world. Given this the UCU finally took down the offending messages.
The University and College Union (UCU) member who posted a link on the union's Web site to an anti-Semitic article on the Web site of former Klu Klux Klan leader, David Duke, has been banned indefinitely from posting on the site.

Jenna Delich, a UCU member from Sheffield, posted a message on the activist list on the UCU Web site in support of a colleague who backs the call to boycott Israeli academia.

Matt Waddup, manager of the UCU activist list, sent an e-mail on Wednesday to all members of the list informing them of her suspension.

"Time for one of my universally popular interventions," Waddup wrote. "I have received complaints from list members about the linking by another member to a Web site which contains highly offensive, racist material.

"I acted to suspend the posting rights of the list member as soon as the union became aware of the link, and having reviewed this and previous conduct; I have now suspended their list membership indefinitely," he wrote.

Waddup warned members to take responsibility and think before sending posts.

"List members should note that my view as moderator is that you are responsible for what you post, including links. Check what you are sharing before you share it. Think about what you are saying before you press send," he wrote.

UCU member Dr. David Hirsh, lecturer at the University of London's Goldsmiths College, said the decision was significant but accused the union of failing to take responsibility for the incident.

Meanwhile, a Web site that published the story about the UCU link to the anti-Semitic article on Duke's Web site has been taken offline after its service provider was threatened with libel.
It is back up again with no problems. Every time the leftist elites try this stunt, it backfires on them.

Free Speech is only to be for the leftist elites it seems. Not for everyone. And the UCU will discover that like the last time they tried this stunt, American Universities will not go along with it. They will ban British Universities and colleagues like they threatened to last time.

The real horror in this is that these people are responsible for teaching the next generation of British leaders.

UPDATE: UCU Boycott of Israel

In late May, Monkey in the Middle reported that the University and College Union (UCU), the largest trade union in the UK for academics and academic related staff decided to try and implement (for the second time) a total boycott of Jewish and Israeli academics. This resolution passed without debate and without any dissent.

Now the rank and file members are grumbling against this boycott.
The University and College Union (UCU) are wavering on whether to implement a motion calling for the boycott of Israeli academia knowing the motion is "illegal" and "discriminatory," according to anti-boycott campaigners.
At the first meeting of the union's National Executive Committee (NEC) on Friday, members failed to make a decision on the motion passed that will in effect reintroduce an academic boycott of Israel.

Instead members referred the motion to the Strategy and Finance Committee (SFC), which will examine new legal advice the UCU is seeking and will then decide if any parts of the motion can be implemented.

Last year this same group tried the same thing and found not only did the rank and file members reject the idea, but it was illegal by their own legal advisors.

"If a boycott were legal, the union would not have hesitated in implementing it," Lorna Fitzsimons, co-chair of the Stop the Boycott (STB) campaign said. "It is clearly playing for time, its actions show that the union knows what we have known for the past four years - that a boycott is illegal and will be challenged in the courts.

"What is perplexing in the extreme is the UCU's decision to continue to pursue this when it knows that it will end the same sticky way as last year," Fitzsimons added.

A bunch of pro-Palestinian, anti-Israeli, anti-Semitic educators wishing to impose a boycott on their rank and file. They will impose their hatred on the British education community and will not worry about the consequences of their actions.

The latest move will undoubtedly come as a disappointment to those who have publicly criticized the motion. People as diverse as the prime minister, the higher education minister, the shadow education minister, the Foreign Office, Israeli and Palestinian Trade Unions as well as the heads of Universities UK [an organization of executive heads of all UK universities] and the Russell Group [an association of leading UK research-intensive universities] have all condemned the union's decision to call for a boycott.
Last year when this was proposed, Universities and Colleges in the US proclaimed that if the UCU implements a boycott of Israelis, they will implement a boycott of all British academicians. The call started with the Ivy Leagues and eventually included almost all of the Universities and Colleges in the US. I'll give you 3 guesses which ones didn't add their voices.

To implement this boycott would be illegal in the UK and immoral. But as things are with the leftists in charge of academia, anti-Semitism is an acceptable. They must not insult or demean their Muslim overlords who pay their expenses. So boycotts of Israelis and Jews will be allowed, criticism of Islam and Shar'ia law isn't.

UCU Boycott of Israel - Take 2

Great Britain the nation that gave the world the Magna Carta, Chancer, Shakespeare, Shelley, and Winston Churchill is now the center the center of Multiculturalism and Political Correctness. The latest round of this craziness has resurfaced its head.

No it is not the recent official harassment of Lionheart. Nor is it the placing the rights of minorities above those of the majority.

It is the second try of the anti-Israeli, anti-Semitic University and College Union.

The University and College Union, the largest trade union for academics and academic-related staff in further education in the UK, voted on a motion at their annual conference in Manchester on Wednesday that will reintroduce an academic boycott of Israel.

The motion passed without debate and by a show of hands and asks members "to consider the moral and political implications of educational links with Israeli institutions, and to discuss the occupation with individuals and institutions concerned, including Israeli colleagues with whom they are collaborating."

Again they will try and get this passed. This time they didn't allow discussion or debate of the issue.

But then one cannot but remember that Great Britain is no longer a free nation. It is a nation where anti-Semitism is an open policy by the government. A nation where Jews are attacked and Synagogues are vandalized with impunity. The police will give lip service to the Jewish community while encouraging the very criminals to repeat the crimes. Civil rights laws apply only to Muslims and to no other people.

The last time this body of bigots got together to do this, the US academic community made it clear that a boycott of this kind would result in a boycott of British academics in kind. And that worked. The rank and file of the UCU voted against a boycott. But they didn't go far enough. They didn't get rid of the ultra-leftist that have hijacked their union. These bigots are still in their positions of power. And it is now time for Take 2.

"This motion in effect gives license to harassment and discrimination within academic institutions - the very thing the UCU is supposed to protect its members from," said Lorna Fitzsimons, co-chair of the campaign group. "As a trade unionist myself, I find it astounding that the union is prepared to contradict its founding principles of protection in the workplace. Ferocious and free debate is of course vital within all aspects of society - but only if there is no threat attached to individuals."

The UCU's own legal advice on the matter says that a boycott would be illegal. But that doesn't matter to bigots. They will push this onto their members whether it is legal or not, whether the members want it or not. The UCU is no longer a viable union. It is a hotbed of Communist, Anti-Semitic, Left-Wing zealots who have an agenda they want to implement.

Before we just blame the UCU, we must look at academia in general. What was once a domain of education and learning has become a stronghold of left-wing indoctrination. The situation with UCU is also here in the US at places like University of California at Irvine. UCI has become a hotbed of anti-Israel, anti-Semitic activity in the tradition of UCU and now it seems British Universities.

If this rally for a boycott succeeds, then any semblance of racial equality in Great Britain will go out the window. And we will see calls for similar boycotts coming out of the Universities and Colleges of America.
