This Land Is Mine!

Talks between the Palestinians Fakistinians and Israel has collapsed.  Israel refuses to released the last group of prisoners murderers and Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen has started procedures to join more UN agencies in direct violation of the agreement to have talks.  Israel has threatened to retaliate economically.

Deputy Education Minister Avi Wortzman has said it best:

THIS IS OUR COUNTRY!!
Avi Wortzman
Deputy Education Minister Avi Wortzman (Jewish Home) sharply criticized the Palestinian Authority (PA) on Friday for making endless demands to continue peace talks.

''They demanded independence, and we gave it to them. They demanded recognition of a Palestinian state, and we gave it to them. They demanded weapons and we gave them to them. They demanded Hevron, and we gave it to them. They demanded Gaza, and we gave it to them. They demanded terrorist releases, and we gave it to them, again and again," Wortzman fired.

"In response: we received attacks, we received wounded and dead, we received damage to our economy," he continued. "Now they're coming back and demanding we withdraw to '67 borders, with eastern Jerusalem as their capital."

Wortzman rejected the PA's demands.

"If we do it, G-d forbid, what will they ask for tomorrow? It's time to demand that we stop giving," he stated. "It's time to put our existential needs and our security before their demands."

"The time has come to say it clearly: this is our country. Ours - period."

On Thursday, the PA imposed seven new conditions on peace with Israel. According to chief PA negotiator Saeb Erekat, these conditions are:
1. A written letter from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in which he gives a commitment that the Palestinian state will be established and that its capital will be eastern Jerusalem.

2. The release of 1,200 terrorists, which the PA says was agreed upon when Ehud Olmert was prime minister. These include multiple-murderer Marwan Barghouti, PFLP leader Ahmed Saadat, and Fuad al-Shubaki, who was responsible for the attempt to smuggle a huge amount of arms into Gaza on board the Karine A.

3. Implementation of the agreement on checkpoints and removal of the siege on Gaza.

4. The return of the Church of Nativity expellees.

The IDF besieged the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem April 2 to May 10, 2002, as part of Operation Defensive Shield, after 39 terrorists had holed up there. The terrorists took shelter in the famous church, and used about 40 priests and nuns as a shield, knowing Israel would not take a chance on inadvertently hurting priests and nuns. The siege was ended through an agreement that involved exiling the terrorists to other countries.

5. The granting of full Israeli citizenship to 15,000 Palestinian Arabs in a process of family reunification.

6. A halt to construction in eastern Jerusalem and the reopening of PA institutions there which have been closed down by Israel.

7. No more entry by IDF forces into areas under PA control, no more arrests and eliminations, and the handing over of Area C to PA control.
Responding to Erekat, Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett wrote on his Facebook page, “You wanted a commitment? Here it is: Eastern Jerusalem will never be your capital.

So much for President Obama's Foreign Policy.  I guess John Kerry won't be getting the Nobel Peace Prize this year.  He and Obama should remember who gave the land to the Jews.  And He is not very happy with either one or their liberal friends.

Another lesson he should remember.  After all each Jew can state proudly:

This Land Is Mine!

First Judea And Samaria, Then The Old City, Now The Kotel.

With each passing day the PA adds a demand to their growing list of demands in order to have a 2-State Solution.  First it was the whole of Judea and Samaria, the old Law of Return, No buffer zone, the Jordan Valley, East Jerusalem, and now:  The Kotel.
A top Palestinian Authority official said that the PA was demanding sovereignty over all areas of Jerusalem Israel liberated in the Six Day War, including the Kotel (Western Wall).

Speaking to Channel Ten, Mahmoud al-Habbash, Minister of Holy Places in the PA, said that “there will be no peace until the end of the Israeli occupation that began in 1967. Every piece of land that Israel conquered then belongs to the Palestinians.” That includes Jerusalem, “the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Western Wall.”

Asked what would happen if Jews wished to pray at the Wall, al-Habbash said “they will be welcome, there will be no problem. There will be no limitations on freedom of religion and worship. Religious ceremonies are one thing, and politics are another.”

Under the Oslo Accords, Israelis are supposed to have access to several religious sites in PA-controlled areas of Judea and Samaria. In actuality, however, Jews are almost completely banned from these sites, including the Tomb of Joseph in Shechem and the Tomb of Joshua in Kifl Hares. Jews are rarely allowed to visit these sites, and then only under very strict security conditions. Several Jews, including Rabbi Hillel Lieberman h”yd, have been killed in area of Joseph's Tomb.

With that, Channel Ten quoted sources in the PA that most of the issues brought up in the negotiations being conducted by US Secretary of State John Kerry, including land swaps, have been resolved. But the Palestinians are insisting that all areas of Jerusalem liberated in the Six Day War, including the Jewish Quarter, the Kotel, and Jewish neighborhoods such as French Hill, Ramat Eshkol, and Har Homa be placed under PA sovereignty. Kerry has spent much time and effort in trying to come to a compromise on Jerusalem, but has so far failed, PA sources said.

Speaking to Channel Ten, the PA's Jerusalem Minister, Abu-Ala, said that the current round of negotiations was one of the most intense ever between Israel and the PA, thanks to the strenuous efforts of Kerry to get the two sides to agree to a negotiation framework.

But he said that effort came with a risk.

“Given the intensity with which the Americans are approaching this, there will probably be undesirable consequences if the talks fail.”

SOURCE
Giving John Kerry's desire for the Nobel Peace Prize I wouldn't put it pass him to add this to the list of demands he will try to push onto Israel.

I do believe it is time for Israel to leave the negotiations permanently.  They are getting nothing but a piece of paper for Obama to wave in the air crying:  "Peace in our lifetime!"  And Israel will get the shaft as the Fakistinians will use their newly formed nation to finish the job Hitler started in 1933.

Christianity Becoming Extict In Its Birthplace.

Hat Tip to Creeping Sharia

MIDDLE EAST historian Tom Holland told a briefing in London last night that the world is watching the effective extinction of Christianity from its birthplace.In an apocalyptic appraisal of the worsening political situation in the region, a panel of experts provided a mass of evidence and statistics for the end of the region’s nation states under the onslaught of militant Islam.‘In terms of the sheer scale of the hatreds and sectarian rivalries, we are witnessing something on the scale of horror of the European Thirty Years War,’ said Holland.‘It is the climax of a process grinding its way through the twentieth century – the effective extinction of Christianity from its birthplace.’The event titled ‘Reporting the Middle East: Why the truth is getting lost’ at the National Liberal Club in Whitehall, sought answers to the ‘anaemic’ coverage of attacks on Egypt’s Christians on 14 August.
Pre-planned destruction of scores of ancient churches, monasteries, schools, orphanages and businesses had gone unreported for days across the West, Nina Shea, Director of the Hudson Institute Religious Freedom Centre in Washington said.

After the Islamists swept multiple elections during the first revolution in 2011, US newspapers asking how it would change Egypt suggested merely that women would be prohibited from wearing skimpy clothes, and Sharm el-Sheikh would close as a tourist destination.

This was ‘utterly trivial’ she said.  Persecution of Copts, who dated their church to Gospel writer St Mark in Alexandria, was at its worst since the fourteenth century, with ‘horrific levels of violence’.
‘It has been the worst persecution in 700 years against the oldest, largest remaining Christian minority in the Middle East.’

The media had failed to ask the most basic questions, she said.  ‘Why were the Copts singled out, what was the significance and purpose of the attacks?’

A fourth-century church dedicated to St Mary – whom Muslims were supposed to revere – and that was a UNESCO World Heritage site, had been destroyed and designated as a Muslim prayer space.
It was 200 years older than the Bamyan Statues in Afghanistan, yet the mainstream media had ignored its demise.

Yet there was enough evidence to show that the violence was part of a plan to ‘drive out the Copts, to terrorize them into leaving’, she added.

Lapido Chief Executive Dr Jenny Taylor who organized the event which was co-hosted with foreign policy think tank Henry Jackson Society, said the media’s job was impeded by ‘secular blinders’.
They tended to report the Middle East’s religions as a ‘variant of a Westminster debate’ with ‘left-wing underdogs versus right-wing overdogs and the Christians getting lumped in with the overdogs if they get mentioned at all.’

Holland said Egypt was not a developing nation, which needed help to emerge as a Western democracy but had been the world’s first state, with a civilization on a level with China and Iran.  In Roman times, it had been the world’s bread basket.

Now it was the single largest importer of wheat anywhere on the planet.

In answer to a question from the floor he agreed there had been what felt like ‘silence’ from Western churches, governments and indeed Western Muslims after the attacks, which belied Islamist propaganda that the West colluded with Christians.

Shea also spoke about Syria.

Christians in Syria were now ‘caught in the middle’, she said.  There was a shadow war against them by rebels, with jihadis and al-Qaeda factions deliberately attacking Christians.

‘When they conquer a town they set up sharia courts and mini sharia states.  The Christians are fleeing.  Given the choice to be killed or to leave, they leave.  If they stay, the jizya tax is imposed, and then raised.  If they cannot pay they are killed.’

She said Christians dared not go to refugee camps run by rebels as they would be recruited to fight.
The so-called Damascus Plan drafted by the Free Syrian Army for after the war ends, included retribution killings against any who did not oppose Assad.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I feel sorry for the Churches of the Middle East.  In every Muslim nation  they are being destroyed.  In Bethlehem, under the Palestinian Authority, Christians have gone from a majority population of 85% to a minority population of 10%.  Pretty soon the only Christians in the city will be the priests, nuns, and tourists.  Already the Palestinian Authority has decided to turn the Church of the Nativity into a mosque.  The Church of the Nativity is one of the holiest sites in the Christian world.  Yet there will be no protests when this happens.
The only place in the Middle East where there is total and free religious liberty is Israel.  Yet the Christian Churches will not praise Israel for this, but condemns the Jewish State instead.
Between 1949 and 1955 every Arab nation forcibly removed most of the Jews from their nations.  They laughed doing so, saying:
First the Saturday people.
Then the Sunday people.
In most of the Arab world there are not enough Jews to satisfy their blood lust.  For instance there are only 9 Jews in Egypt.  (All elderly women.)  So now it is the turn of the Sunday people to leave.  And like with the Jews, the world is remaining silent.
Until Christian and World leaders cry out and demand a stop to the persecution, the murders, the rapes, the torture of their fellow Christians, the Muslims will keep doing what they want and laughing while we just sit back and do nothing.
Why Has Mahmoud Abbas Given The Nod To Lone Wolf Palestinian Terror?
In July 2013, after a 3 year hiatus, Israel and the Palestinian Authority restarted "peace" talks.  And just like the last time, it is now stalled and going no where.  So what does Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen do?  He gives the nod to the killing of Israelis.  Soldiers and civilians.
From Debka
No word of condemnation has come from any Palestinian leader for the murders of two Israeli soldiers two days apart by West Bank Palestinians: Saturday, Sept. 21, Sgt. Tomer Hazan, 20, from Bat Yam, was found murdered in a water hole near the West Bank town of Qalqilya. Sunday, another 20-year old, 1st Sgt. Gal Koby from Tirat Hacarmel, was killed by a single Palestinian sniper’s bullet while on guard at the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron.
The silence from Ramallah is well-orchestrated, a signal that Mahmoud Abbas, chairman of the Palestinian Authority, is in favor of picking off Israeli soldiers every few days, so as to boost his hand in the US-sponsored negotiations with Israel.
Those talks have not advanced an inch, since the parties remain entrenched in their widely separate positions.
Three months into the talks initiated by US Secretary of State John Kerry, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni and Yitzhak Molcho for Israel and the Palestinian Saeb Erekat have not even agreed on an agenda.
On Sept. 8, Livni proposed a working agenda of 17 items. The Palestinians countered with an agenda of six items, all them relating to the most contentious “core issues” of the dispute.
Livni’s list was dictated to her by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. She does not see eye to eye with the prime minister on Palestinian policy or negotiating tactics, but is bound to follow his guidelines or quit.
After presenting their conflicting agendas, the Israeli and Palestinian negotiators fell to an argument about priorities – security first, said the Israelis; borders, said the Palestinians.
The Israeli side explained that agreement on credible security arrangements would determine the location of borders; whereas the Palestinians insisted on reversing the order. They cited Secretary Kerry as having promised them explicitly that the pre-1967 boundaries would be adopted as the borders of the future Palestinian state.
Kerry has avoided putting any US position paper on the table in the absence of an American participant in the talks. This absence was the result of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s objections to former US ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk’s presence in the role of special US envoy. He maintained that the negotiations should be conducted directly and bilaterally between Israel and the Palestinians without US intervention.
Netanyahu in any case never got on with Indyk during his years as ambassador a decade ago.
The row over the rival lists erupted shortly after the prime minister told Livni and Molcho to put on the table what he called “Israel’s last offer” which was to withdraw from 60 percent of the West Bank in favor of a Palestinian state.
This plan would have saved him having to evacuate a single Jewish settler from Judea and Samaria. No one outside Netanyahu’s inner circle expected anything less than a brusque Palestinian refusal to even discuss the offer. His action was widely seen as an inexplicable blunder.
Since it became clear that the negotiations with Israel were going nowhere, tensions have been rising in the Palestinian arena. Until now, Kerry has been able to keep a heavy iron lid on tensions – mainly by forbidding both parties to utter a word on the state of the talks, on pain of US reprisals.
This hush enabled the US Secretary to maintain the appearance of progress in the Middle East talks, and the Israeli and Palestinian leaders to look after their own political affairs.
Netanyahu, by maneuvers for avoiding the surrender of a single settlement, has preserved his government coalition intact. Abbas, acting through his henchmen, has let Palestinian terrorists partially off the leash - although for the time being only for attacking Israeli soldiers.
Like Arafat before him, Abbas does not issue written guidelines. He has used winks and nods from the right quarters to generate a permissive climate for terrorist action. Provided they limit their targets to uniformed Israelis, it is given to understand that they will not be bothered by Palestinian security and intelligence agencies.
Those agencies certainly know the identity of the Palestinian sniper who shot dead the Israel soldier in Hebron Sunday. If ordered by the Palestinian leader, they could quickly lay hands on him and pass him on to the Israeli authorities. The Palestinian Authority’s failure to do so has forced a crack in Kerry’s lid on the bubbling Palestinian stew. It remains to be seen whether or not Abbas continues to let the deadly attacks on Israeli soldiers continue, or even expand them. If he does, Netanyahu will have to turn away from domestic politics and give serious attention to countering the resurgence of Palestinian terror.
I doubt that these "talks" will go any where or come to any agreement.  The Fakistinians don't want an agreement, they want everything.  I am ashamed that Netanyahu hasn't stopped the talks with all the leaks from the Fakistinians, with the US already setting the borders of Israel and cutting Jerusalem in half.
 Each step in this process has been for the benefit of the Fakistinians and the Israelis are just getting shafted.  It is time Israel stop releasing murderers to get a bunch of welfare queens to the table.  They don't want to talk, let them rot.
It is time that Israel leave these "talks" and let Barack Hussein Obama and the Fakistinians have a temper tantrum before another IDF soldier is murdered.
I once made an infographic about what Israel gets back from "goodwill gestures."
 Hebrew list here.
There are apparently 12 Arab victims, presumably Israeli Arabs, listed here. Since no reporter seems to bother asking the families of Jewish victims how they feel knowing that the murderers of their loved ones are being freed for no reason, I wonder whether anyone will ask the Arab families what they think about this deal.
Jews Die When the World Talks "Peace"
Last Friday Secretary of State John Kerry announced to the world that both the Israelis and the Arabs would come to Washington next month to work out a peace agreement.  He has announced that the Israelis would release 100 terrorist prisoners and have agreed to the 1967 Auschwitz borders.  Those are suicidal borders.  Yet Kerry has promised.  Israelis are furious.  They know when the world talks "Peace" they will die.
From Israel National News
If Mr. Netanyahu, Mr. Lapid, Mrs. Livni and Mr. Peres want to buy “peace” at the price of giving away the land and the dreams of the Jewish people for 3,500 years, they should take into account that they may have a struggle with the Jews. In this sense the “peace process” contains the chilling script of a civil war.
And there is hope as long as Jews boycott the betrayal of the land.
But the "peace talks" also denote a condition in which the Jews are prevented from defending themselves, while Arabs are killing them at will. Oslo, Wye Plantation, Road Map and the John Kerry plan are political experiments with Jewish human beings as guinea pigs in a laboratory.
A Palestinian Arab State in Western Eretz Israel will be the termination of the Jewish State. The Arabs only discovered that they were “Palestinians” after the Zionists built a state for the Jews. So why should the Jews be exiled to the Diaspora, in Tel Aviv or in the Philistine plains?
The “best-case” scenario of another withdrawal will see the “settlements” as enclaves surrounded by the Palestinian Authority, as was the wonderful village of Netzarim in Gush Katif.
Connecting Arab villages entails cutting off Jewish communities and enlarging the 'areas of refuge’ for Islamic terrorists. The terrorists also will be closer to the homes and roads of many more Jewish residents. In any case, this kind of “peace” means the end of Jewish life in the historical lands of the Bible. It is the end of post-1967 Israel.
The "settlers’" public committees should distribute millions of pamphlets containing maps of the various withdrawal proposals to homes throughout the country. The Jews must be aware of the treasure they are going to lose if Israel implements this madness. Because the death Israel is preparing for "the settlers" is death by strangulation.
The talks about the two-digit borders is a spectacle reminiscent of the Holocaust. Except for the bloodshed, if you consider the mass expulsion of a Jewish population and the annihilation of an entire Jewish civilization in Judea and Samaria, there is no other name for it. Not only because “peace process” means the expulsion of more than 100.000 Jews, but also because the terrorists during the talks will rev themselves up to kill more Israelis. Jews die when the rest of the world talks “peace”.
The Arabs are much more subtle than the Nazis were. So while the Nazis implemented their “final solution” in secrecy, planning it during the Wansee’ conference in a villa outside of Berlin, the Arabs are tirelessly killing the Jews in front of the CNN, the BBC and the CBS cameras and on the world’s frontpages. They even got a seat in Washington.
After Germany’s defeat, Marshal Keitel, then German chief of Staff, was asked: “Would the Reich have attacked Czechoslovakia in 1938 if the Western Powers had stood by Prague?”. “Certainly not” was his answer.
Repeating what happened to Czechoslovakia in 1938, in 2013 the Western democracies are betraying the tiny State of Israel. And the Palestinian Arabs are no more likely to preserve the peace after Israel’s withdrawal from the territories than Nazi Germany was after the democracies offered it the Sudetenland on a silver platter. The Palestinian Arabs want to create a state west of the Jordan as a springboard from which to eliminate Israel.
The main difference is that while the Germans used gas, the Arabs would probably prefer knives to finish the job.
A fiendish aspect of the Nazi war on the Jewish people was the scheme to dupe the Jews into cooperating in their own destruction. This is the real irony of “Israeli officials” now praising Obama and Kerry’s efforts and opening the door to the Holocaust denier Mahmoud Abbas.
The “peace process” is going to create a nine mile wide concentration camp. Stop it now, or one day the Diaspora Jews will have to create a second Holocaust Museum.
There is no way any Israeli Prime Minister would ever go back to a 9 mile wide nation with enemies on 3 sides and the Mediterranean on the fourth.  Nor would any Prime Minister cut Jerusalem in 2.  That is suicide for him or her.
The world is not satisfied with only 6 million Jews murdered.  It wants the rest of the Jews, 16 million Jews eliminated from the planet.  It is the only way they believe to placate their Muslim masters and ensure peace on the planet.
Please They Will Murder Me!
Is the plea of a Muslim Palestinian from Nablus to the High Court of Justice Thursday.  What was this poor man's crime?  Spying for Israel?  No.  Being a member of Hamas?  No.  Being a member of Fatah?  No.  Being gay?  Yes.  He is a gay Palestinian and Muslim.  A death sentence in the Muslim world.
A homosexual Palestinian man petitioned the High Court of Justice Thursday against Interior Minister Eli Yishai and the public committee reviewing humanitarian cases at the Interior Ministry following their decision to reject his appeal for legal residency status in Israel.
According to the petitioner, his request was denied despite indication of special humanitarian circumstances and therefore violates the Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law. In his petition, the man also requested that the court issue an edict preventing authorities from deporting him until the court rules on his matter.
The petitioner, a Muslim Palestinian from Nablus who grew up in Israel until the age of six, said he is an openly gay man, whose sexual orientation is well known in the West Bank and was even reported in the Palestinian media.
He further noted that he has been living in Tel Aviv with his Israeli partner for many years, and that the two had signed a domestic partnership agreement over a decade ago.
According to the petitioner, if he is deported back to the Palestinian Authority, his life would be in danger.
He claimed that he has been arrested and beaten by the Palestinian police due to his sexual orientation in the past, and that his family has disowned him and warned him against returning to Nablus.
After a long wait, the petitioner was informed last October that the chairman of the committee, Minister Yishai, has decided to deny his request – a decision the petitioner is claiming discriminates against same sex couples.
Source
To Muslims Homosexuality is a sin punishable by death.  Hundreds of Muslims living in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza have fled to Israel in fear for their lives.  In fact every stereotype of being gay is exploited.  For instance it is widely believed that all male hairdressers are gay.  Therefore no man can be a hairdresser.   Or that idiot Ahmadinejad's statement to the world that there are no gays in Iran.  That is somewhat true.  They have killed so many.
Yep.  No gays here.  Just dead gays.
In Israel the LGBT community is open.  They live openly, they serve in the IDF, they can adopt.  Although gay marriage is not performed in Israel, if a couple marries in a nation in which gay marriage is allowed, their marriage is accepted by the State of Israel.  Gay partners have the same rights as non-gay partners.  While the US persecuted gays in the military, then implemented  "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."  The IDF had the policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Don't Give A Damn!"  They serve, and many in combat units too.
Yet the majority of the LGBT side with the Muslims of Judea, Samaria and Gaza and not with Israel.  Hamas and the PA both execute gays and lesbians for the crime of Homosexuality.  But American, Canadian and European Gays work towards the destruction of Israel.  They are leaders in the BDS movement.  They are always in the forefront of Fakistinian parades against Israel.
The next time one of these useful idiots yell at you ask them how many people turned out for the Gay Pride Parade in Gaza?  Answer:  0  They don't have one.  Then ask them how many turned out for the Gay Pride Parade in Jerusalem?  Answer:  More than 5,000.  Then ask why only Turkey has a Gay Pride Parade and no other Muslim nation has one?  Ask them why try to destroy the only Middle East nation that accepts their gay and lesbian children?  They will never answer that question.
I do hope the High Court elects to grant this poor man asylum in Israel.  He has been in Israel for 10 years, in a loving relationship and has committed no crime.  He is what is good in the region and deserves life.
Hatchet Job On Israel By 60 Minutes
ACTION ALERT
From Stand With Us
On Sunday, April 22, CBS` "60 Minutes" ran a shockingly biased episode, "Christians of the Holy Land" by Bob Simon. Even the always diplomatic Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren called the show a "hatchet job" on Israel.  You can watch the program here.
Ambassador Oren was right. Simon only paid lip service to the violent persecution and flight of ancient Christian communities throughout the region which is the real historical tragedy unfolding in the Middle East. Instead, incomprehensibly, he chose to bash Israel, the only Middle Eastern country that protects Christians. The program scapegoated and demonized Israel, distorting reality to blame Israel`s security measures -- the fence and checkpoints -- for the suffering of Palestinian Christians. Simon interviewed biased and sometimes anti-Semitic sources, treating them as legitimate.  He asked leading questions.  He dismissed the real reasons for the plight and flight of Palestinian Christians: persecution by Palestinian Islamists and the Palestinian Authority. His shoddy, irresponsible research produced propaganda, not journalism. This dangerous misinformation stokes anti-Israel prejudice and bigotry, shifting public attention away from the forces that are imperiling the survival of Christian communities in the Palestinian Authority and throughout the region.
Write to CBS executives.  Demand that CBS offer an apology, and give equal time to correct the misinformation and anti-Semitic innuendos.
SAMPLE LETTER:
Dear _______,
We were shocked by the shoddy journalism in your April 22nd "60 Minutes" piece, "Christians of the Holy Land." We urge you to run a corrective piece and publicly apologize for the piece`s irresponsible inaccuracies, misrepresentations, and bias. Bob Simon either unwittingly or intentionally promoted hostility toward Israel and anti-Semitic views. In a pattern that he has repeated in the past, Simon interviewed biased sources and treated them as legitimate. He asked leading questions. More disturbing, he ignored and effectively belittled the real threats to beleaguered Christians, which come from rising Islamist persecution throughout the region and in Gaza and the West Bank. Instead, he focused on the one country in the Middle East that firmly protects the rights of Christians. If allowed to stand uncorrected, this program will have misinformed the public and irreparably damaged the reputation of "60 Minutes," which will no longer be considered a reliable news source.
Sincerely,
Your Name
SELECTED DETAILS ON MISLEADING AND ANTI-SEMITIC INNUENDOS IN "CHRISTIANS OF THE HOLY LAND"
Despite the program`s claims, Israel is the only country in the Middle East where Christians` rights are fully protected and where the Christian population has grown instead of declined in the last 64 years.
  • Israel`s Christian population grew from 34,000 in 1948 to 154,000 in 2012.
  • Israel has fostered a positive environment for Christians, most evidenced by official recognition of 10 Christian denominations and by Israel`s distribution of free Christmas trees every year at Christmas time.
Christians have been emigrating from the Holy Land in a two-century-long trend, not because of Israel and the security policies -- the barrier and checkpoints -- it was forced to implement in just the last 10 years.
  • Major emigration occurred in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In some cases, emigrant Christian Palestinian communities grew larger than their communities of origin in the Holy Land.
  • During Jordanian control (1948-1967), Jerusalem`s Christian population dropped from 29,000 in 1944 to 11,000 in 1961. In Bethlehem, 75 percent of the population was Christian in 1947; in 1967, the percentage had dropped to 46 percent.
The program interviewed one businessman only to deny the real problem facing Christians: rising hostility and persecution by the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Palestinian Islamist groups. Why didn`t the program mention any of the following?
  • The PA declared Islam its official religion, committed to Sharia law, and does not offer civil protection to other religions.  A few weeks ago, the PA declared that the First Baptist Church of Bethlehem is illegitimate.
  • Christians in the West Bank have been victims of repeated persecution, violence, and rape. In 2005, Palestinian Christians, including Fr. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, custodian of the Holy Land, documented 93 incidents of abuse and violence by the "Islamic fundamentalist Mafia" against Christians.
  • Christians face intimidation, brutality, theft of their property and boycotts of their businesses.
  • The PA Ministry of Information reported in 1997 that "any Muslim who [converts to Christianity] or declares becoming an unbeliever is committing a major sin punishable by capital punishment."
  • Christian history is denied by Palestinian Muslims, including Yassir Arafat`s and the recently retired Mufti of Jerusalem who claim that the Jewish Temple never existed in Jerusalem.
  • The Christian population in Gaza has plummeted from 2,500 to under 1,000 because of persecution by Hamas.
Simon implied that Israel`s policies and the fence are harming the West Bank`s economy.
  • In fact, the terrorist war known as the Second Intifada, not Israel, is what harmed the West Bank`s economy.
  • As the PA has tried to control terrorist groups, Israel has been able to relax its counter-terrorism measures, bringing the PA extraordinary economic growth of 8 percent per year in the last three years.
Simon interviewed only biased sources -- and did not bother to investigate whether many Christians were afraid to speak out of fear of endangering themselves and their families.
  • Simon did not interview clergy and ordinary Christians who might have had the courage to speak up, such as Rev. Steve Khourani of the First Baptist Church of Bethlehem; Samir Qumsiyeh of Bethlehem, director of the Catholic radio Station; or the Christian leaders who signed the 2005 document detailing the PA`s persecution of Christians.
Simon asked leading questions to provoke answers that fit his political agenda.
  • Simon asked the woman who lived near the security barrier, "How can you live like this?" The barrier may be unpleasant, but his very question suggested it is unjustifiable and intolerable, and he got the answer he wanted.
  • When the woman said she wouldn`t move but would stay and "fight," he never asked what she meant by "fight" or why she didn`t instead say she wanted to seek peaceful coexistence so the barrier could be removed. Instead, he stoked the sense that the barrier was intolerable and her reaction understandable -- even though her anger betrayed why the barrier is necessary.
Simon interviewed and promoted anti-Semitic sources.
  • Mitri Raheb, the main pastor he interviewed, is well known for promoting replacement theology which Vatican II condemned as a prime source of anti-Semitism and the Holocaust.
  • Raheb delegitimizes Israel and the right of the Jewish state to exist.
  • Simon uncritically promoted the Kairos Document though it has been exposed as using high-minded rhetoric to camouflage the authors` sinister motives -- delegitimization of Israel, opposition to the existence of the Jewish state, and calls for boycott and divestment from Israel.
Simon engaged in anti-Semitic innuendos.
  • Simon claimed that Israel treats Christians well and wants to promote good Christian-Jewish relations because of the money it gets from Christian tourism.
  • In fact, Israel protects Christians, not for tourism dollars -- an anti-Semitic "Shylock" innuendo -- but because those are Israel`s values.
This is just one part of a greater whole to demonize Israel and the Jewish people.  Both Jeffrey Fager and Bill Owens should change their names to Joseph Goebbels.  For they are just continuing the work that he started.
