Thousands of Allied troops invaded Fortress Europe. French, British and American came to liberate Europe and bring them FREEDOM. On that first day 10,000 troops died and thousands were wounded. But a beachhead was established and the liberation had begun.

On this day in 1944 the greatest flotilla of invasion vessels traveled the 110 miles (117.027 km) to begin the invasion of France. Thus starting the invasion named D-Day and the liberation of Europe.
It is hard to conceive the epic scope of this decisive battle that
foreshadowed the end of Hitlers dream of Nazi domination. Overlord was
the largest air, land, and sea operation undertaken before or since
June 6, 1944. The landing included over 5,000 ships, 11,000 airplanes,
and over 150,000 service men. After years of meticulous planning
and seemingly endless training, for the Allied Forces, it all came
down to this: The boat ramp goes down, then jump, swim, run, and crawl
to the cliffs. Many of the first young men (most not yet 20 years
old) entered the surf carrying eighty pounds of equipment. They faced
over 200 yards of beach before reaching the first natural feature
offering any protection. Blanketed by small-arms fire and bracketed by
artillery, they found themselves in hell. When it was over, the
Allied Forces had suffered nearly 10,000 casualties; more than 4,000
were dead. Yet somehow, due to planning and preparation, and due to
the valor, fidelity, and sacrifice of the Allied Forces, Fortress
Europe had been breached.

Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! You are about to embark upon a great crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers in arms on other fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.
Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened, he will fight savagely.
But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man to man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our home fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to victory!
I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full victory!

That was a different time, a different war.
Could you imagine what it would have been like if D-Day was reported by CNN or any other Lame Stream Media outlet?
NORMANDY, FRANCE (June 6, 1944) Three hundred French civilians were
killed and thousands more were wounded today in the first hours of
America's invasion of continental Europe. Casualties were heaviest among
women and children. Most of the French casualties were the result of
artillery fire from American ships attempting to knock out German
fortifications prior to the landing of hundreds of thousands of U.S.
troops.
Reports from a makeshift hospital in the French town of St.
Mere Eglise said the carnage was far worse than the French had
anticipated, and that reaction against the American invasion was running
high. "We are dying for no reason, "said a Frenchman speaking on
condition of anonymity. "Americans can't even shoot straight. I never
thought I'd say this, but life was better under Adolph Hitler."
The
invasion also caused severe environmental damage. American troops,
tanks, trucks and machinery destroyed miles of pristine shoreline and
thousands of acres of
ecologically sensitive wetlands. It was believed that the habitat
of the spineless French crab was completely wiped out, thus threatening
the species with extinction. A representative of Green Peace said his
organization, which had tried to stall the invasion for over a year, was
appalled at the destruction, but not surprised. "This is just
another example of how the military destroys the environment without a
second thought," said Christine Moanmore. "And it's all about corporate
greed."
Contacted at his Manhattan condo, a member of the French
government-in-exile who abandoned Paris when Hitler invaded, said the
invasion was based solely on American financial interests. "Everyone
knows that President Roosevelt has ties to 'big beer'," said Pierre
LeWimp. "Once the German beer industry is conquered, Roosevelt's beer
cronies will control the world market and make a fortune."
Administration
supporters said America's aggressive actions were based in
part on the assertions of controversial scientist Albert Einstein, who
sent a letter to Roosevelt speculating that the Germans were developing a
secret weapon -- a so-called "atomic bomb". Such a weapon could produce
casualties on a scale never seen before, and cause environmental damage
that could last for thousands of years. Hitler has denied having
such a weapon and international inspectors were unable to locate such
weapons even after spending two long weekends in Germany. Shortly after
the invasion began, reports surfaced that German prisoners had been
abused by American soldiers. Mistreatment of Jews by Germans at their
so-called "concentration camps" has been rumored, but so far this remains unproven.
Several
thousand Americans died during the first hours of the invasion, and
French officials are concerned that the uncollected corpses will pose a
public-health risk. "The Americans should have planned for this in advance," they said. "It's
their mess, and we don't intend to help clean it up."
It was a good thing that Political Correctness or a leader like Barack Hussein Obama did not exist in the United States or Great Britain in 1944. In fact it was the opposite with men who did not hesitate to name their enemy in unglowing terms. Or to call the Germans by derogatory names. Leaders who rallied their nations, their fighting men with their words. Asking them to do the impossible. To free Europe from tyranny.
It has been 68 years. The nations of Europe have forgotten the sacrifice of American troops for their liberty. American troops and Americans are looked down upon, spat upon, cursed. The blood this nation spilled for their freedom is ignored by the people of Europe. In many cases nothing more than a few feet of soil has all been asked by Americans for this gift they gave the Europeans.
Europeans can forget. They can burn our flag. They can spit on our soldiers, curse our nation, hate the United States and its citizens. They can do this as a free people. A freedom bought and paid for by the blood and lives of American soldiers.
On 27, August 1979 at 1640 (4:40 PM), a 500 pounds (227 kg) fertilizer bomb hidden in a lorry loaded with bales of straw, parked close to Narrow Water Castle, was detonated by remote control as an army convoy of a Land-Rover and two four-ton trucks drove past on the A2 road. The explosion caught the rear truck in the convoy killing six members of 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment.
After the first explosion the British soldiers, believing that they had come under attack from the IRA, began firing across the narrow maritime border with the Republic of Ireland, a distance of only 57 m (187 feet). An uninvolved civilian, Michael Hudson, an Englishman whose father was a coachman at Buckingham Palace was killed by British forces during the shooting, and his cousin Barry Hudson injured. According to RUC researchers, the soldiers may have mistaken the sound of ammunition cooking off from the Land-Rover destroyed in the original explosion for enemy fire from across the border.[11] However the hands of two IRA members arrested by the GardaĆ and suspected of being behind the attack, Brendan Burns and Joe Brennan, showed traces of firearms,[12] while author Peter Taylor asserts that there was sniper fire on the soldiers after the first bomb ripped through the truck.[13]
On hearing the first explosion a Royal Marine unit alerted the British Army of an explosion on the road and reinforcements from the Parachute Regiment were dispatched to the scene by road. A rapid reaction unit consisting of medical staff and a senior commander Lieutenant-Colonel David Blair, the commanding officer of the Queen's Own Highlanders, together with his signaller Lance Corporal Victor MacLeod, were sent by Wessex helicopter. Col. Blair assumed command once at the site.
At 17.12, thirty two minutes after the first explosion, a second device concealed in milk pails exploded against the gate lodge on the opposite side of the road, completely destroying it. The IRA had been studying how the British Army acted after a bombing and correctly assessed that the soldiers would set up an Incident Command Point (ICP) in the nearby gate house.
The second explosion, caused by an 800 pounds (363 kg) fertilizer home-made bomb, killed twelve soldiers - ten from the Parachute Regiment died along with the two Queen's Own Highlanders soldiers. Mike Jackson, then a Major in the Parachute Regiment was at the scene soon after the second explosion and later described seeing pieces of human remains over the area and the face of his friend, Major Peter Fursman, still recognizable after it has been torn by the explosion from his head. Only one of Colonel Blair's epaulets remained to identify him.
Until the 1990's, Ireland and Great Britain was under terrorist attack from the Irish Republican Army.

An organization in Idaho filed for permits for a military flyover, as they have done for 42 years. For 42 years the request was approved. In The Time of Obama, however, the Pentagon denied the God and Country Family Festival their ceremonial flyover.

Nampa, Idaho’s 43rd Annual Treasure Valley God and Country Festival applied for the FAA permit, which was approved. The next step was the Pentagon application, which was denied. The denial came because the event was “Christian in nature,” said the Pentagon, according to Reverend Patrick Mahoney on FOX News this morning, with Gretchen Carlson.
Spokespersons for the God and Country Family Festival say while their organization is definitely “Christian in nature,” but the flyover is a tribute “to the military and the freedoms that they stand for.
…we’re honoring the military when we do that flyover, and that’s why we do it. I think they made a bad decision.
Pam Baldwin, the executive director of The Interfaith Alliance of Idaho weighed in:
Everything is not about whether folks are Jews or Christians or Muslims,” she said. “If people are saying that, they’re probably looking for media attention or looking to disparage other faiths.”Baldwin questioned whether a flyover of the event would have been a prudent use of public resources, especially in light of the deep recession.
You know America, we must deal with this issue. The Constitution guarantees all Americans the freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. Non-believers and believers in other faiths are not free to take Christianity from us, or free to remove or deny the Christian principals that were integral to the founding of the United States and all of the history that brings us to today.
The mountain of evidence cannot be shoved under the rug, or worse yet, be overturned (amended) within our founding documents unless we allow it. This is not the time and place to reiterate such evidence, but perhaps we should define just what being a Christian nation means, since President Obama has denied our Christianity as he has traveled around the world. I’ll quote a Supreme Court justice from the best essay I have found on America’s “Christian nature.” The quote from WallBuilders is just a snippet of the documentation. Contemporary post-modern critics (including President Obama) who assert that America is not a Christian nation always refrain from offering any definition of what the term “Christian nation” means. So what is an accurate definition of that term as demonstrated by the American experience?

So, if being a Christian nation is not based on any of the above criterion, then what makes America a Christian nation? According to Justice Brewer, America was “of all the nations in the world . . . most justly called a Christian nation” because Christianity “has so largely shaped and molded it.” 9
Back to the Treasure Valley God and Country Family Festival, no doubt we will begin hearing that the Pentagon doesn’t have the funds for the flyovers. Since Pentagon flyovers are always intended to salute our military and patriotism, and are usually accompanied by the National Anthem, I suggest we pull all the pork necessary from earmarks out of the budget and the stimulus to fund legitimate flyovers. Or cancel the Obama’s Wednesday night cocktail parties.

It was the start of D-Day. The long planned and awaited invasion of France by the French, British and Americans.
I could write reams of words describing the invasion, the horror of the landings, the causalities (10,000 Allied troops wounded or killed), and the heroism of the men who risked their lives to bring about the destruction of Nazi Germany.
