Day 4 UCI Hate Week (Victims)

On May 10, the Muslim Student Union at UC Irvine held their noon event and featured Osama Shabaik, a former UCI student, member of the Muslim Student Union and one of the so-called “Irvine 11”, arrested  for disrupting Israeli ambassador to the US Michael Oren during his 2010 speech at UCI.  Shabaik spoke about his own personal experiences in the Holy Land region prior to the Oren incident. Then he told the audience of about 50 students and others how he and his fellow MSU members planned the disruption. (Keep in mind that one of the original defenses the defendants claimed after the event was that it was a spontaneous reaction by individuals and not part of an MSU planned event.) Of course, in his view, the prosecutions were not justified and he spoke of the right to speak out in protest.

Shabaik was followed by a graduate student and member of the Students for Justice in Palestine (I am withholding his name because he is a student.) He told the crowd that when he was a student at the University of Minnesota, he and his friends completely and continuously disrupted a speech by Bill Richardson.  He added that the university took absolutely no action against them. This was to draw a comparison between his experience and the prosecution and disciplinary measures by UCI against the Irvine 11.

Comment: Shame on the University of Minnesota.

That was followed by a female MSU member who talked about protesting and read an impassioned poem referring to Palestinian victimhood. (Again, I am withholding her name.)

Then a former Palestinian student named Mustafa (I didn’t get his name) came up and spoke about the situation in Gaza.  More suffering and victimhood, if you will.  He talked about all the children in Gaza who suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome as a result of Operation Cast Lead.  Of course, nobody mentioned that there are no Jews, no Israelis, and no Israeli forces in Gaza, which is ruled by Hamas. During the Q and A, a questioner asked Mustafa about the post-traumatic stress syndrome suffered by Israeli children in Sderot, southern Israel as a result of the thousands of rockets launched by Hamas. He was also asked if he condemned Hamas for doing that.

“No.”

In his explanation, Mustafa basically blew it off as a response to Israel’s aggression (my word-I am paraphrasing.)

 Mustafa was also put off balance by an Iranian student who asked him what he thought about the support Hamas receives from Iran. In responding, he said that he was not so much into politics and then went on a winding answer.

As is typical, I had to struggle to get my question in. You see, the first speaker, Shabaik was back seated in the audience and he was the specific one I wanted address my question to. The moderator said that if anyone had a question for Shabaik, they should come that evening for the later event. I was interrupted when I said I specifically wanted to address Shabaik then said I would address it to all the speakers (including Mustafa, who was standing at the podium-I could have cared less about him.)  So I asked that since all 4 speakers were able to give their presentations without any disruption, why could  they not extend that courtesy and that right to those with whom they disagree. Apparently, some thought the question was not clear enough so I had to return to the microphone and repeat it. (I thought it was simple.) Eventually, Shabaik returned to the podium and gave me his answer. It was predictable.  He said that he had (in the past) been disrupted, but that it was not criminal to be disruptive. He described Oren as a war criminal. He conceded that they were rude, but that he was proud of being rude, and that there was nothing shameful about being rude to injustice.

 The point that is emerging here is that these young people have a skewed perception of the American right of free speech. They will insist on their own right of free speech (which they clearly have), but insist that they have the right to shut down speech they don’t like. By that twisted standard, it would have been fine for others to shout down the hate-filled words of Tuesday’s  speaker, Amir Abdel Malik Ali (which was not done.)

They just don’t get it.

When my husband left on his deployment, our 6-year-old son could not walk on his own. He has cerebral palsy. Doctors originally said that he would never walk or do much of anything. While daddy was away, he learned to walk. For his homecoming, we set it up for Michael to walk to his daddy for the first time ever! We kept the fact that he could walk a secret the whole time his dad was gone!

When Fox’s Gretchen Carlson saw the video this morning, she broke down and couldn’t even finish the segment. You‘ll see why that’s not an overreaction in a second:

Day Three at UC Irvine-Hedy Epstein

On Wednesday,  Hedy Epstein appeared at UC Irvine during the Muslim Student Union’s anti-Israel week of events. (Epstein was born in Germany and was part of the so-called Kinder Transport whereby thousands of Jewish children were sent to England during the late 1930s. Her family remained in Germany and died in the Holocaust.)

As in previous years, Epstein told her story about surviving the Holocaust and later in life becoming involved in the Israel/Palestinian conflict after the Shaba and Shatila massacres in Lebanon during the 1980s. She told of her first trip to Israel with Palestinian activists and having to endure Israeli checks –including a strip search at the airport in Israel. Epstein, of course, an ardent critic of Israel and says that she and her family have opposed Zionism since she first heard about it as a child.

Epstein began her talk by mentioning a petition that is being circulated demanding UC president Mark Yudof’s resignation in response to a letter he recently issued deploring racist and anti-Semitic incidents on UC campuses. (He didn’t mention anything about Islamophobia.) After her presentation, she signed the petition.

Epstein also brought us up to date on her recent activities including her participation in a flotilla boatlift to Gaza a couple of years ago, in which the boat she was on was stopped by the Greeks just after leaving harbor.

During the Q and A, a gentleman identified himself as the child of Holocaust survivors and politely told her that she was sharing a platform (other sponsored speakers, specifically Amir Abdel Malik Ali from the previous day) who supported Hamas and Hezbollah and thus, supported people who wanted to destroy Jews-I am paraphrasing.) In her response, Epstein said that she condemns all violence, but that the violence carried out by Palestinians pales in comparison to that carried out by Israel and the IDF (Israeli Defense Force). She also reminded the questioner that Hamas was elected by the people of Gaza.

Afterward, as Epstein was leaving, I greeted her, and we spoke for a few minutes in German (about Germany). We had spoken a couple of years previously about Germany after her talk. I did not try to engage her in debate out of respect for her advanced age. I thanked her for her presentation and visit to UCI and wished her a good day.

A Letter From Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani

For those of you who do not know who Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani is, he is an Iranian who converted to Christianity from Islam at age 19.  Prior to his arrest, he was the pastor of a network of Christian house churches. He is a member of the Protestant evangelical Church of Iran, which also encourages people to convert to Christianity. He is married to Fatemeh Pasandideh, and they have two sons, ages 9 and 7.

For many years he has not been allowed contact with the outside world.  His attorney, Mr. Mohammad Ali Dadkhah was recently arrested and has been sentenced to 9 years in prison.

Yet a letter, written by Pastor Nadarkhani, has been allowed out of the prison by the Mullahs of Iran.

Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani has written an open letter to “all those who are concerned” with his plight thanking them and asking for prayer. The letter written earlier this week is the first time in nearly a year that Pastor Youcef has been able to speak out publicly about his illegal imprisonment in Iran.

He encourages the members of his congregation and supporters all over the world that he is in “perfect health” and urges them to continue having faith in God. He specifically thanks everyone who has “asked for my release, or campaigns and human rights activities which are going on against the charges which are applied to me,” and he urges everyone to “pray for me.”

Below is the entire letter from Pastor Youcef obtained and translated into English by Jason DeMars of Present Truth Ministries, who the ACLJ has been working with on Pastor Youcef’s case from the beginning.

May 7, 2012

Greetings from your servant and younger brother in Christ, Youcef Nadarkhani.

To: All those who are concerned and worried about my current situation.

First, I would like to inform all of my beloved brothers and sisters that I am in perfect health in the flesh and spirit. And I try to have a little different approach from others to these days, and consider it as the day of exam and trial of my faith. And in these days which are hard in order to prove your loyalty and sincerity to God, I am trying to do the best in my power to stay right with what I have learned from God's commandments.

I need to remind my beloveds, though my trial due has been so long, and as in the flesh I wish these days to end, yet I have surrendered myself to God's will.

I am neither a political person nor do I know about political complicity, but I know that while there are many things in common between different cultures, there are also differences between these cultures around the world which can result in criticism, which most of the times response to this criticisms will be harsh and as a result will lengthen our problems.

From time to time I am informed about the news which is spreading in the media about my current situation, for instance being supported by various churches and famous politicians who have asked for my release, or campaigns and human rights activities which are going on against the charges which are applied to me. I do believe that these kind of activities can be very helpful in order to reach freedom, and respecting the human rights in a right way can bring forth great results in this.

I want to appreciate all those are trying to reach to this goal. But at the other hand, I'd like to announce my disgust at insulting words or activities which make stress and trouble, which unfortunately are done with the justification (excuse) of defending human rights and freedom, for the final result is so clear and obvious for me. Insulting the belief of other nations or people, whether they be a majority or minority, is not accepted and is an unworthy deed, specifically for those who have this teaching to love and respect others more than themselves and treat them the same as you want to be treated.

Then, burning and insulting is not a reverent behavior for a Christian, but it's worthy to be in obedience to the word of God and humble ourselves to glorify God.

I try to be humble and obedient to those who are in power, obedience to those in authority which God has granted to the officials of my country, and pray for them to rule the country according to the will of God and be successful in doing this. For I know this in this way I have obeyed God's word. I try to obey along with those whom I see in a common situation with me. They never had any complaint, but just let the power of God be manifested in their lives, and though sometimes we read that they have used this right to defend themselves, for they had this right, I am not an exception as well and have used all possibilities and so forth and am waiting for the final result.

So I ask all the beloved ones to pray for me as the holy word has said. At the end I hope this be prepared as soon as possible, as the authorities of my country will do with free will according to their law and commandments which are answerable to.

May God's Grace and Mercy be upon you now and forever. Amen.

It is very encouraging that Pastor Youcef is not only able to communicate with the outside world, but that he is aware of the international outcry on his behalf. News of his story is reaching all the way around the world back into the heart of Iran.

It is critical that we keep this intense pressure on Iran for his release. Please continue to pray, Tweet for Youcef, and urge the U.S. Senate to quickly and unanimously pass a resolution demanding his release.

For what reason has the Mullahs allowed this letter to be released?  Is this a play to reduce the sanctions on the country?  I am glad that as of 7 May he is still alive, but for how long and at what price will his release cost the world.

The world must cry out now to the Iran Government that preaching a religion not your own is not a crime.  That persecuting a man for his beliefs is not a crime.  It is now time to release Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani NOW!

Big Sunspot Crackling With Flares And Radio Bursts

Heads Up People.  The Sun, our Star is acting up again.

Huge sunspot AR1476 is crackling with M-class solar flares and appears to be on the verge of producing something even stronger. The sunspot's 'beta-gamma-delta' magnetic field harbors energy for X-class flares, the most powerful kind. Radio operators are recording strong bursts of shortwave static from the sunspot as it turns toward Earth.

Earlier today, amateur astronomer Thomas Ashcraft of New Mexico detected strong shortwave radio bursts coming from the sunspot. Click to hear the "solar static" that roared out of his loudspeaker.

"The strongest burst so far occured around 1631 UT on May 9th," reports Ashcraft. "I am observing at 28 MHz and 21.1 MHz. As I send this note I am hearing more bursting, indicating powerful magnetic dynamism within active region 1476."

Solar radio bursts are caused by plasma instabilities that ripple through the sun's atmosphere in the aftermath of powerful flares. With AR1476 poised for more eruptions, this 'radio activity' is likely to continue for days.

Expect atmospherics to act up for a while, the Northern Lights should be spectacular for those who can view them.  But be warned that radio signals will be experiencing problems for the next few days.

Day Two at UC Irvine Hate Week-Amir Abdel Malik Ali

On Tuesday, May 8, Amir Abdel Malik Ali once again was brought back to the UC Irvine campus by the Muslim Student Association to spew his message of hate and radicalism. On his previous visit in 2010, he acknowledged that he was a supporter of Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad. He then closed by telling the Jewish audience members, “You Jews. Y’all the new Nazis!”
This day, Ali gave his typical rambling speech filled with invective.  One must understand that while Ali is a dynamic and fiery speaker, he has no introduction, body or conclusion. He also buys into countless conspiracies. Today, he tried to cover every ill of the world in one 40 minute speech. Early in the speech he referred to Mark Yudof (University of California president) as a “Zionist Jew”, as he railed against Yudof for a recent letter he sent out on a series of racially-religiously tainted incidents on UC campuses. Yudof’’s sin was that he didn’t mention any Islamophobic incidents. (Here’s a  secret; there weren’t any.)

Of course, Ali railed against Israel and all the “oppression” committed against the Palestinians. (Oppression is one of Ali’s favorite words.) He also railed against his own country, the US, with mocking references to Uncle Sam. In one of his many newly-discovered conspiracies, Ali talked about how the next military battlefield is going to be Africa. He mentioned Libya, Sudan and Uganda then made this incredible statement: According to Ali, President Obama is already “in” as far as re-election is concerned. Why? Because there is no way America would start bombing Africa with a white man as president.

The fix is in, folks.

Of course, there were fleeting references to other issues of the day like Trayvon Martin (it’s all connected, you see) and the always obligatory Irvine 11, who “did the right thing” (by disrupting the speech of the Israeli ambassador to the US at UCI in 2010. And there was this:

Latinos are native Americans too and California is Mexico del Norte.

The US ended Prohibition because the government wanted Americans drunk so they would not rise up during the Depression.

Somewhere after the halfway point, Ali indicated he was into his conclusion. I learned years ago that means nothing. Ali then proceeded to wander into other new information until the moderator brought him the “hook” note that he was running out of time.

In my question to Ali (Q and A), I noted how ironic it was that the MSU always began their events with preamble in which they disclaim any racial or religious bias-specifically against members of the Jewish faith-then they bring in a speaker like Ali who has a long history of inflammatory statements on the UCI campus. I noted that in previous years, he had referred to Rahm “Israel” Emanuel, David Axelrod and Rupert Murdoch as “Zionist Jews” “Rupert Murdoch-straight up Zionist Jew” (His words, I noted.)  Now he calls Mark Yudof a “Zionist Jew”. I told Ali that he had done nothing to bring Christians, Jews and Muslims together nor blacks and whites. I told him that he was an anti-Semite who hated his own country. Directing my words to the MSU in the audience I told them that they “owned” Ali when they sponsored him as a speaker. “He is your speaker” and asked (when pressed to ask a question) how they can disclaim anti-Semitism when they bring Ali to campus. (I am paraphrasing from memory, but I will be able to post a complete video of this event in the next few days.)

Ali’s response was predictable. He always made a distinction between Jews and Zionist Jews. “Not all Jews are Zionists and not all Zionists are Jews”.  (he obviously forgot his closing comment at the 2010 event);

"You Jews. Y'all the new Nazis!"

So much for the moderation of the UCI-MSU, and so much for the hollow assurances of the misguided Olive Tree Initiative crowd that the OTI has made the campus situation better.

Homemade Chili And Home Depot

WARNING : ONLY Read This When You Are Able To LAUGH OUT LOUD.

I went to Home Depot recently while not being altogether sure that course of action was a wise one.

You see, the previous evening I had prepared and consumed a massive quantity of my patented 'you're definitely going to shit yourself' road-kill chili. Tasty stuff, although hot to the point of being painful, which comes with a written guarantee from me that if you eat it, the next day both of your butt cheeks WILL fall off . . .

Here's the thing. I had awakened that morning, and even after two cups of coffee (and all of you know what I mean) nothing happened. No 'Watson's Movement . . . Despite the chillies swimming their way through my intestinal tract, I was unable to create the usual morning symphony referred to by my dear wife as 'thunder and lightning'.


Knowing that a time of reckoning HAD to come, yet not sure of just when, I bravely set off for Home Depot, my quest being paint and supplies to refinish the deck. Upon entering the store at first all seemed normal. I selected a cart and began pushing it about dropping items in for purchase. It wasn't until I was at the opposite end of the store from the toilets that the pain hit me.


Oh, don't look at me like you don't know what I'm talking about. I'm referring to that 'Uh, Oh, Shit, gotta go' pain that always seems to hit us at the wrong time. The thing is, this pain was different. The chillies from the night before were staging a revolt. In a mad rush for freedom they bullied their way through the small intestines, forcing their way into the large intestines, and before I could take one step in the direction of the toilets which would bring sweet relief, it happened. The chillies fired a warning shot.


There I stood, alone in the paint and stain section, suddenly enveloped in a toxic cloud the likes of which has never before been recorded. I was afraid to move for fear that more of this vile odor might escape me. Slowly, oh so slowly, the pressure seemed to leave the lower part of my body, and I began to move up the aisle and out of it, just as a red aproned clerk turned the corner and asked if I needed any help.


I don't know what made me do it, but I stopped to see what his reaction would be to the toxic non-visible fog that refused to dissipate. Have you ever been TORN IN TWO DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS EMOTIONALLY? 

Here's what I mean, and I'm sure some of you at least will be able to relate. I could've warned that poor clerk, but didn't. I simply watched as he walked into an invisible, and apparently indestructible, wall of odor so terrible that all he could do before gathering his senses and running, was to stand there blinking and waving his arms about his head as though trying to ward off angry bees. This, of course, made me feel terrible, but then made me laugh . . . . . . . . BIG mistake!!!!!

Here's the thing. When you laugh, it's hard to keep things 'clamped down', if you know what I mean. With each new guffaw an explosive issue burst forth from my nether region. Some were so loud and echoing that I was later told a few folks in other aisles had ducked, fearing that someone was robbing the store and firing off a shotgun. Suddenly things were no longer funny . 'It' was coming, and I raced off through the store towards the toilet, laying down a cloud the whole way, praying that I'd make it before the grand explosion took place.

Luck was on my side. Just in the nick of time I got to the john, began the inevitable 'Oh my God', floating above the toilet seat because my ass is burning SO BAD, purging. One poor fellow walked in while I was in the middle of what is the true meaning of 'Shock and Awe'. He made a gagging sound, and disgustedly said, "SON-OF-A-BITCH! DID IT SMELL THAT BAD WHEN YOU ATE IT?" then quickly left.

Once finished and I left the restroom, reacquired my partially filled cart intending to carry on with my shopping when a store employee approached me and said, 'Sir, you might want to step outside for a few minutes. It appears some prankster set off a stink bomb in the store. The manager is going to run the vent fans on high for a minute or two which ought to take care of the problem.'

My smirking of course set me off again, causing residual gases to escape me. The employee took one sniff, jumped back pulling his shirt up to cover his nose and, pointing at me in an accusing manner shouted, "IT'S YOU!"

then ran off returning moments later with the manager. I was unceremoniously escorted from the premises and asked none too kindly not to return.

Home again without my supplies, I realized that there was nothing to eat but leftover chili, so I consumed two more bowls. The next day I went to shop at Lowes.

I can't say anymore about that because we are in court over the whole matter. Bastards claim they're going to have to repaint the store.

Hate Week-Ben White at UC Irvine

The “Apartheid Wall”

On March 7, the UC Irvine Muslim Student Union initiated their week-long Israel Apartheid week. The first speaker was British freelance journalist Ben White. White has written a couple of books condemning Israel for its “maltreatment “ of Palestinians (which get rave reviews from Iran’s Press TV), and Israel is pretty much the only issue in his life as he travels around giving anti-Israel speeches. On this occasion, he pretty much gave his“off-the-shelf” speech about the “injustices” Israel commits against the Palestinians. He spoke of the restrictions on movement of the Palestinians . However, he did not dwell on the reasons for those controls. Naturally, it was not his wont to discuss minor little issues like Palestinian terrorism, suicide bombers, rockets being lobbed into Southern Israel from Gaza-just Israel controlling what kinds of goods could be allowed into Gaza. White also spoke of the “illegal settlements “ in the West Bank but never, of course, mentioned the murders of Israeli settlers by Palestinians. There was, of course, no mention of the slaughter of the Fogel family in 2011.

In the question and answer session, I reminded White of his previous speaking appearance at UCI in 2010, when an audience member questioned him about the then recent murder of an Israeli family living in one of the West Bank settlements. In White's response, he had dismissed them as "illegal settlers.” The woman responded that they were “Jewish human beings”, at which point, White said, “OK. They were illegal Jewish human being settlers”. (A real wide guy.) I then told him that since that last appearnce at UCI, there had been another murder of an Israeli family, this time the Fogel family in Itimar. I described the murder of the five family members including three children-also including a months-old infant in its crib who had its throat slashed. I also mentioned that the reaction of many Palestinians was to hand out candy in the streets in celebration. I asked why he never condemned those things.

In his answer, White gave the standard “I condemn all murder of innocents” response then compared it to the civilians killed in Gaza by Israeli airstrikes. Of course, I could have come back with the fact that Hamas and Hezbollah use civilians as human shields, but the ground rules for questions was to ask your question then return to your seat before the question would be answered. (The obvious reason for that is to eliminate follow-up responses to bad answers.)
White is typical of the anti-Israel crowd. They will talk forever about Israel’s so–called“crimes”, but never mention the atrocities by Palestinians or other Arab states. It is only when bothersome questioners bring them out that they will of course “condemn all acts of violence against innocents” and immediately change the subject to those who get killed in the cross-fire between the Israeli army and the terrorists who hide behind human shields.

There wasn’t that much of crowd to hear White-perhaps 50 people. Even his supporters in the audience looked bored. He lost them early on in the speak because he is a pedantic and boring speaker. He speaks again Monday evening. That’s double punishment for the MSU members who feel obligated to come out and support the event. In contrast, on Tuesday, we will have the fiery Amir Abdel Malik Ali.

ELECTIONS!!! NOT THIS YEAR!!

First there were to be elections.  Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stated so yesterday at a meeting of Likud members.  Now today they are off.  Even though the first reading of a bill to dissolve this Knesset and hold new elections had passed.

Just hours after the Knesset approved the first reading of a bill to dissolve itself and hold elections, it appears as though no early elections will be held.

Kol Yisrael radio reported that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Opposition leader MK Shaul Mofaz have reached an agreement to form a national unity government.

According to the report, the Likud and Kadima parties converged at 2:00 a.m. (Israel time), and the members of both factions are being updated on the meetings between Netanyahu and Mofaz. It was also reported that Mofaz is expected to be appointed either a minister without portfolio or Homefront Defense Minister, a position recently vacated by MK Matan Vilnai (Independence).

It was also reported that the agreement reached between the Likud and Kadima calls for the Tal Law for the recruitment of hareidim into the army to be replaced by the end of July. Netanyahu and Mofaz will head a team which will be tasked with forming the new law.

In addition, Kadima has promised to remain in the coalition until the end of its term in November 2013. Also, it was agreed between the parties that by the end of December, a law changing the Israeli system of government will be put to a vote. According to reports, the talks between Netanyahu and Mofaz went on for several days.

A unity government is likely to harm the Labor Party, which has gained strength in the polls, as well as Yair Lapid's party, as he will now have to wait until the current Knesset completes its term in order to run.

A unity government would definitely help Kadima which, according to all polls, was set to suffer a dramatic blow in the next election.

Meretz chairwoman Zahava Gal-On called the unity government agreement a "dirty trick".

"The prime minister wants to avoid elections and the opposition leader is desperate and headed towards a crash," she said. "This is a disgrace to the Israeli parliament and a terrible message to the public, who is losing all faith in the country's leadership."

In recent polls both Labour and Kadima were suppose to lose seats in an election.  So for Kadima and Mofaz this is a better alternative.  And a law changing the Israeli system of government is interesting.  Israel has no written Constitution.  David Ben-Gurion promised to have had one written by October 1948.  So much for that date.  If this is a written Constitution then it has only taken Israel 64 years to do so.

The statute that you cite (Section 61.021) refers only to game birds, game animals, fish, marine animals or other aquatic life. Generally speaking, other nongame wildlife is listed in Chapter 67 (nongame and threatened species) and Chapter 68 (nongame endangered species). “Nongame” means those species of vertebrate and invertebrate wildlife indigenous to Texas that are not classified as game animals, game birds, game fish, fur-bearing animals, endangered species, alligators, marine penaeid shrimp, or oysters. The Parks and Wildlife Commission may adopt regulations to allow a person to take, possess, buy, sell, transport, import, export or propagate nongame wildlife. If the Commission does not specifically list an indigenous, nongame species, then the species is considered non-protected nongame wildlife, e.g., coyote, bobcat, mountain lion, cotton-tailed rabbit, etc. A non-protected nongame animal may be hunted on private property with landowner consent by any means, at any time and there is no bag limit or possession limit.

An exotic animal is an animal that is non-indigenous to Texas. Unless the exotic is an endangered species then exotics may be hunted on private property with landowner consent. A hunting license is required. This does not include the dangerous wild animals that have been held in captivity and released for the purpose of hunting, which is commonly referred to as a “canned hunt”.

The Greatest Show on Earth returns to UC Irvine May 7-10 as the Muslim Student Union puts on its annual bash-Israel week of sideshow attractions. Notwithstanding all the horrible things that are occurring in the Middle East and nearby regions, once again, the focus will be on tiny Israel. Forget about Egypt, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Iran, Pakistan and all the other dysfunctional, despotic regimes aligned against her  It is Israel that is the problem in the region.

Here is the tired old line-up of  “distinguished” speakers. Most of them we know because they have spoken at UCI before-some many times. Can you say, “retreads”?

Monday’s speaker will be the arrogant little British journalist and Doogie Howser look-a-like Ben White.   He is also speaking at eight the same night. He's apparently going to disprove the idea that Israel is a democracy. I guess he prefers the Syrian model.

On Tuesday, it’s the main attraction, none other than our old friend, Amir Abdel Malik Ali. He missed last year’s event, but he will be back once again to insult the Jews and glorify suicide bombings. In 2010, he was so bad, UCI’s chancellor Michael Drake was finally moved to condemn his statements-even though he never identified Ali by name. He also neglected to mention the MSU as bringing him to campus; nor did he repeat what Ali had said. For all the campus knew (those who were not present), Ali might have denied Global Warming. The fact that Ali is back rebuts the claim by Olive Tree Initiative supporters that OTI has “made the situation better”.  This time, the title of his speech is, "The struggle has no borders". In other words, same tired old speech with a new title.

In the evening, the speaker will be some law student and activist named Omar Shakir. I can hardly wait to hear his pearls of wisdom.

On Wednesday, we have Holocaust survivor Hedy Epstein, a very nice old lady who is thinks Palestinians are the victims-no matter how many people they kill. She has spoken several times at UCI. The Muslim Student Union likes to invite Jews to speak so nobody can call them anti-Semitic. Hedy always fits the bill. She should arrive a day early so she can hear Ali speak. I warned her about that the last time she came. She has some pretty embarrassing company. The MSU always puts up a protective cocoon around her lest folks like me try to influence her.

The same evening, radical Berkeley professor Hatem Bazian brings his tired old act back to UCI. This character is a two-trick pony whose tricks are “Islamophobia” and bashing Israel. In a UC university system full of professors who are embarrassments, this guy takes the cake.

Thursday is Irvine 11 day, a "celebration" of the 11 students who disrupted the Israeli ambassador to the US' speech in 2010  and were charged and convicted. The noon speaker will be Osama Shabaik of the Irvine 11, while the evening event will be an Irvine 11 panel. That promises to be an exercise in victimhood. Be sure and bring lots of handkerchiefs.

Given the events of the past year, this year’s speakers will be speaking with an 800 pound gorilla standing behind them (or four elephants if you prefer). With all the persecution of religious minorities in Muslim countries (Israel's neighbors, for the most part), the slaughter in Syria, and that much-vaunted “Arab Spring” becoming a nightmare, the week’s events will be marked by a sense of absurdity as the speakers demonize the one productive democracy in that dysfunctional region (Israel). The other absurdity is that they are labeling the week of events as "anti-oppression week."  No, they won't be talking about the oppression of Baha'i and gays in Iran, nor will they be talking about oppression of Christians in Egypt, Pakistan or Iraq, nor will they be talking about oppression of Christians and animists in Sudan, nor will they be talking about the on-going slaughter of Christians in Nigeria, nor will they mention the slaughter of the Fogel family, in which a Palestinian "soldier" slashed the throats of an entire family including three children-including an infant asleep in its crib. For that horrific act, Palestinians passed out candy in the streets to celebrate.

Another absurdity will be at the beginning of each event, including Tuesday at noon, in which an MSU member will announce to the audience that the MSU is not anti-Semitic in any way. Then he will turn the microphone over to Amir Abdel Malik Ali.

Hunger And Starvation Is Rampant In Canada!

Yes Canada.  According to Olivier de Schutter of Belgium the real problem area of hunger is Canada and not Africa, Syria, or even Asia.

“There is no food and no clean water, nothing,” Mahmoud, a 12-year-old boy from Homs, Syria, told Reuters Thursday. “There is no shop open and we only have one meal a day. How can we live like that and survive?”

According to the World Food Program, half a million people don’t have enough to eat in Syria. Fears are growing that the regime is using hunger as a weapon.

This is the kind of emergency which should attract the attention of the UN Human Rights Council’s hunger monitor, who has the ability to spotlight situations and place them on the world agenda. Yet Olivier de Schutter of Belgium, the “Special Rapporteur on the right to food,” is not going to Syria.

Instead, the UN’s food monitor is coming to investigate Canada.

That’s right. Despite dire food emergencies around the globe, De Schutter will be devoting the scarce time and resources of the international community on an 11-day tour of Canada—a country that ranks at the bottom of global hunger concerns.

A key co-ordinator and promoter of De Schutter’s mission is Food Secure Canada, a lobby group whose website accuses the Harper government of “failing Canadians…and [failing to] fulfill the right to food for all.” The group calls instead for a “People’s Food Policy.”

I asked De Schutter if his time wouldn’t better be spent on calling attention to countries that actually have starving people.

“Globally, 1.3 billion people are overweight or obese,” he responded via his spokesperson, “and this causes a range of diseases such as certain types of cancers, cardio-vascular diseases or (especially) type-2 diabetes that are a huge burden.”

In other words, the hunger expert is not even that interested in hunger, but the opposite. Sure, we should all eat less fries, but do Canadians need a costly UN inquiry to tell us that?

Before Canadians can take De Schutter seriously, they ought to ask him some serious questions about whether his mission is about human rights or a political agenda.

First, consider the origins of the UN’s “right to food” mandate. In voluminous background information provided by De Schutter and his local promoters, there’s no mention that their sponsor was Cuba, a country where some women resort to prostitution for food. De Schutter does not want you to know that Havana’s Communist government created his post, nor that the co-sponsors included China, North Korea, Iran and Zimbabwe.

These and other repressive regimes are seeking a political weapon to attack the West. That is why the first person they chose to fill the post, when it started in 2000, was Jean Ziegler. The former Swiss Socialist politician was a man they could trust: In 1989, he announced to the world the creation of the Muammar Gaddafi Human Rights Prize.

The award spread propaganda for its namesake, and elevated his ideological allies. Recipients include Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez. In 2002, the prize went to convicted French Holocaust denier Roger Garaudy — and to Jean Ziegler himself.

From 2000 to 2008, Ziegler’s UN reports and probes turned a blind eye to the world’s hungry. Instead he attacked America, the West, capitalism and Israel. The human rights council applauded him, and repeatedly renewed his mandate. Only because of term limits did they replace him in 2008 with De Schutter, who praises and emulates his predecessor.

De Schutter’s consistent argument is that if there is hunger, Western countries are to blame. His attacks on international trade are so ideologically extreme that even Pascal Lamy, head of the World Trade Organization and a member of the French Socialist party, criticized De Schutter’s approach for threatening to drive food prices higher and “exacerbating the negative impacts on poor consumers.”

Second, even when they visit the right countries, Ziegler and De Schutter reach the wrong conclusions. Ziegler went to Cuba, but it was a staged visit that hailed Castro’s policies as almost divine. De Schutter went to Syria—in 2010, long before the current crisis — and mentioned several problems, but his report took pains to repeatedly praise the Assad regime.

Like Ziegler, De Schutter has repeatedly made one-sided attacks on Israel lacking any nexus to his mandate. Last July, he issued a pre-emptive attack against his own boss, in a press release titled “UN Special Rapporteur opposes Ban Ki-Moon’s conclusions on flotilla.” De Schutter was outraged that a panel appointed by the UN chief found that Israel’s blockade of Gaza, to stop Hamas importing Iranian missiles, was actually legal — contradicting what De Schutter’s human rights council had said the year before.

Hunger is a human rights issue. Tragically, what most interests De Schutter and his council is scapegoating the West. For the next two weeks, that means Canada.

When your bosses are Cuba, China, North Korea, Iran and Zimbabwe no wonder you will be investigating Canada for hunger and starvation instead of North Korea or Zimbabwe.

This is just one example of the stupidity and insanity in that Tower of Babel called the United Nations.

This coming event is further evidence that the OTI is a fig leaf posing as a neutral effort to expose students to both sides of the Israel-Palestinian conflict. So what do they do here? First The Pastor, Now The Lawyer

Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani is under arrest and under a sentence of death due to his belief in Christianity and not Islam.  Now his attorney Mohammad Ali Dadkhah has been sentenced to 9 years in prison.

Prominent human rights advocate and attorney Mohammad Ali Dadkhah, who represents the Christian pastor sentenced to death in Iran in a case that sparked international condemnation, has reportedly been sentenced to nine years in jail for allegedly "acting against national security" in Iran.

Dadkhah has represented several political and human rights activists jailed since Iran's 2009 disputed elections, including Youcef Nadarkhani, the Iranian pastor charged with apostasy and sentenced to death for leaving Islam and converting to Christianity.

"I have been convicted of acting against the national security, spreading propaganda against the regime and keeping banned books at home," Dadkhah told the Guardian. Dadkhah has also reportedly been banned from teaching at universities or practicing law for 10 years.

The American Center for Law and Justice, or ACLJ, which has been working to secure the release of Nadarkhani, fears the decision to jail Dadkhah puts the Christian pastor at greater risk.

"The news that this renowned human rights attorney has been sentenced to prison by Iranian officials is very troubling," said Jordan Sekulow, executive director of the ACLJ. "With his attorney facing nine years in prison, and no other lawyer likely to take the case, Pastor Youcef has no legal advocate, which places him at greater risk."

Dadkhah was reportedly in court defending one of his clients when the judge announced his own nine-year sentence. He is expected to be jailed soon.

Dadkhah was also the attorney for 12 Christians who stood trial on Easter Sunday in Iran.

The Iranians have not been able to make Pastor Nadarkhani recant and return to Islam.  In fact his faith has gotten stronger.  Nor have the 12 other Christians recanted.  And although the Green Revolution is hidden, it is not dead.  The only resource that the Mullahs of Iran now have is either imprisonment and/or death.  For they cannot truly control their people, or their minds.

Super Moon, Triple Night Sky, And A Meteor Shower

Tonight starts a wild weekend for Astronomers every where.

First up: 

Look toward the southeast on Thursday night (May 3) about an hour after sunset, and you will behold a rare and beautiful sight, a triple conjunction of the moon, the planet Saturn, and the bright star Spica.

A conjunction occurs when two or more astronomical objects are close together in the sky. In reality they are far apart in space; their closeness is just an effect of perspective. In astrology such close encounters are supposed to cause serious effects, but astronomers know that conjunctions are nothing more than a beautiful sight and a photo opportunity.

Because Saturn is the farthest planet from the sun visible to the naked eye, its movements in our sky are very slow. It has been in the constellation Virgo, close to Spica, for a couple of years now. The moon, on the other hand, is very close to Earth, so appears to move relatively quickly across the sky.

Conjunctions like this one provide an excellent opportunity to see how rapidly the moon moves from night to night. On Thursday night, the moon will be well to the right of Saturn and Spica. Twenty-four hours later, on Friday night, it will be well to the left of Saturn and Spica.

Super Moon!

Skywatchers take note: The biggest full moon of the year is due to arrive this weekend.

The moon will officially become full Saturday (May 5) at 11:35 p.m. EDT. And because this month's full moon coincides with the moon's perigee — its closest approach to Earth — it will also be the year's biggest.

The moon will swing in 221,802 miles (356,955 kilometers) from our planet, offering skywatchers a spectacular view of an extra-big, extra-bright moon, nicknamed a supermoon.

And not only does the moon's perigee coincide with full moon this month, but this perigee will be the nearest to Earth of any this year, as the distance of the moon's close approach varies by about 3 percent, according to meteorologist Joe Rao, SPACE.com's sky watching columnist. This happens because the moon's orbit is not perfectly circular.

This month's full moon is due to be about 16 percent brighter than average. In contrast, later this year on Nov. 28, the full moon will coincide with apogee, the moon's farthest approach, offering a particularly small and dim full moon.

Though the unusual appearance of this month's full moon may be surprising to some, there's no reason for alarm, scientists warn. The slight distance difference isn't enough to cause any earthquakes or extreme tidal effects, experts say.

However, the normal tides around the world will be particularly high and low. At perigee, the moon will exert about 42 percent more tidal force than it will during its next apogee two weeks later, Rao said.

The last supermoon occurred in March 2011.

To view this weekend's supermoon to best effect, look for it just after it rises or before it sets, when it is close to the horizon. There, you can catch a view of the moon behind buildings or trees, an effect which produces an optical illusion, making the moon seem even larger than it really is.

Glare from a perigee full Moon--a "Super Moon"--will interfere with the display. Nevertheless, observers especially in the southern hemisphere could still see dozens of meteors during the hours before local sunrise on May 6th.

Heaviest Element Known To Science

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (Gv) , has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons , which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact.

A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete. Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2- 6 years. It does not decay,but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons,forming isodopes.

In 1947, the Political Committee of the Arab League (League of Arab States) drafted a law which was to govern the legal status of Jewish residents in all Arab League countries. This law had already been approved by Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, provided that, “beginning with a specified date, all Jews – with the exception of citizens of non-Arab countries – were to be considered members of the Jewish ‘minority state of Palestine,’ and that their bank account be frozen and used to finance resistance to ‘Zionist ambitions in Palestine.’ Jews believed to be active Zionists would be interned as political prisoners and their assets confiscated. Only Jews who accept active service in Arab armies or place themselves at the disposal of these armies would be considered ‘Arabs.’” 1

Janet Napolitano at UCLA

The Burkle Center at UCLA has posted the video of Janet Napolitano's dry, boring speech at UCLA last month. If you are having trouble getting to sleep tonight, watching this is better than counting sheep. Otherwise, just skip to about the 36 minute mark and watch the No-borders Dreamers stage their chant and walkout followed by my question regarding Fast and Furious. This is where Janet takes umbrage at me rolling my eyes at her non-answer.

Napolitano's answer was not only evasive; it was dishonest. She refers to the concept of "controlled delivery" in equating what ATF did in Fast and Furious with controlled deliveries as conducted by DEA. In the latter, agents are able to conduct a continuing surveillance on drugs that are either seized or still under surveillance up to the point where the ultimate intended recipient takes delivery, at which point, they can be arrested. Of course, this also applies to other contraband. This is clearly not what happened in Fast and Furious, nor was it even intended to do so. How can you arrest the intended recipients of guns in Mexico when the surveillance ends either at the US gun store or at the Mexican border? If you are watching guns purchased in the US (under surveillance) cross into Mexico, and the Mexican police are not involved -or even advised, where is the control? Who is going to be arrested? That was clearly not the goal. What was the goal? The only reasonable answer is that if the guns show up at shootings in Mexico, they can be traced back to the US and the administration's claim that 80-90% of guns in Mexico originate in the US is validated. Next step? Tighter control on gun sales and ownership. If you think that is a wild conspiracy theory, provide me with one that is more reasonable.

In addition, Napolitano refuses to go into her conversations with DOJ, either because according to her own testimony before Congress, there have been none, or there is something to hide in those contacts. By her own non-answer to my question, she shows herself to be complicit in a government cover-up of an operation in which (according to some reports) her own DHS had a supporting role.

Keep in mind as you watch her answer, this is a government head who has seen one, if not two of her own agents murdered by guns involved in Fast and Furious.

A Plea to My Fellow Conservatives

I received this from my friend James M. Sharp.  A piece that speaks loudly to those who cry that they will vote 3rd party or not vote on November 6th, 2012.  Take heed of his words.

Dear fellow conservatives,

Well, it is the end of April; just over six months until election day. Arguably THE most important and potentially pivotal election in the history of our great nation. From all indications, it would appear that the stage is set and that the final combatants will be President Barack Hussein Obama and Governor Mitt Romney facing off against one another.

Many of you dislike Gov. Romney; I understand that and I understand the reasons why. Well, most of them, anyway. Gov. Romney was not my first choice of Republican candidates to face President Obama. He was not even my SECOND choice. But now that the other Republican candidates have fallen by the wayside, it is time to accept the fact that it is going to be Romney against Obama in the title bout.

I voted for John McCain in 2008. Was John McCain my choice for president? Not by a long shot. But I knew what Obama represented and I saw through his shiny veneer. So I did what I had to do. I voted for McCain. I know all about voting one's conscience; I did it in 1992 when I was young and foolish. But I was disillusioned with President George H.W. Bush and I could not, in good conscience, cast a vote for him. I fancied myself a Libertarian, so I voted for the Libertarian candidate, Andre Marrou. This was in the pre-internet days and, although I knew very little about Marrou, I felt that my beliefs very closely aligned with the views of the Libertarians. What did my vote for Marrou accomplish? Very little - except for one very important thing: It helped to elect Bill Clinton. I have vowed to never again throw away my vote.

I need not tell you that we Americans are at a crossroads - perhaps, more accurately, a fork in the road. We have it in our power to decide which fork to take. We can either continue down the road toward European-type socialism under Barack Hussein Obama or we can take a right at the fork and attempt to roll back some of the "hope & change" that he has been wreaking upon our nation and its economy. Again, I acknowledge the fact that Mitt Romney is not the "perfect" candidate. But as far as I am concerned, the best thing that Romney has going for him is the fact that he is NOT OBAMA! And that, my dear friends, is good enough for me.

For over three years now, we have watched Obama and his band of thugs and thieves as they have tried to tear down the American Dream. They have managed to take grotesque deficit spending and kick it into hyperdrive in the name of rescuing us from "the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression". All we have heard is how much worse it COULD have been had we not spent all of that money - which we did not have in the first place.

We have watched one unbelievable event after another take place under this president's watch: First, it was the $868 billion stimulus bill which accomplished basically nothing. The unemployment rate still went to over ten percent and has yet to dip below eight percent. This coming after the administration assured us that, by spending all of that money, the rate would not exceed eight percent. Then there was Obamacare which was passed using political chicanery against the will of the majority of the American people. Since its passage, we have heard experts state that the bill is going to do nothing to alleviate the problem of escalating health care costs and will, in all probability, increase costs for most people (i.e., those that actually work). We have seen record numbers of people living on the public dole under this president. Who can forget "Cash for Clunkers"? We have seen this administration trample upon the rights of states. First it was the Justice Department's lawsuit against the State of Arizona seeking to invalidate that state's immigration law. Then came the NLRB's kowtowing to labor unions in Washington State by attempting to shut down a Boeing plant in South Carolina. How about "Fast & Furious"?

The list goes on and on.

Perhaps the most important point to consider when going to the polls (or not) in November is the fact that, if he is elected to a second term, Obama will get at least one - likely two - additional Supreme Court picks. This, my friends, could be the worst consequence of "Obama - Act 2".

Again, I understand that many of you dislike Governor Romney. I GET it. But you need to think long and hard about your decision to either sit out the election or throw your vote away by writing in Ron Paul or someone else.

Our nation needs you. It needs your vote. Conservatism needs your vote. It may well be our last shot.

This election is too important to risk another 4 years for Obama.  In fact a vote for a third party IS a vote for Obama.

While I didn't endorse any candidate, as it looks, Mitt Romney WILL be the Republican nominee and I will endorse him for President then.  And I will donate to his campaign.  I hope you will do too.  You can donate here.  Every cent counts this time.  AND EVERY VOTE COUNTS!!!  Remember that on November 6, 2012.
