I've never had a cat, but have had several dogs. When the last one died from Cushing disease, that did it for me. Can't go through that again. We like to travel, etc. Just the wrong time of our life for it, I guess.
I do love them and I think I would love a cat also.
Kitties are cute, but hubby is allergic. So we've always been dog people.
